Emerson's Story - An Interaction Story
Welp! I'm Here Now.
Load Full StoryNext ChapterI sighed as I sat down in my rolling chair next to my desk as I turned to face a pony. Well, it's not that strange to the imagination, but she was the color of lavender or a mulberry for a coat and her mane was a sapphire blue with a bright rose streak in the middle. Her name was Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship and she was going to interview me since my room was suddenly teleported into an apartment complex in Canterlot. Now, why wasn't I reacting to her you may ask? I believe I got it out of my system yesterday.
Yes, it did involve a lot of yelling and crying.
She cleared her throat to get my attention when I was thinking about yesterday, "Now please state your name, age, and species."
"My name is Emerson, I'm 19 years old, and I'm a human, to put it simply I'm basically an ape that has been through evolution," I informed her.
She nodded as she levitated a quill and scroll in front of her, "Alright," She wrote what I said, "Now explain to me how you and..." She looked around my bedroom which had a bookshelf, my desk and computer, several gaming consoles, trash bins, a few anime figurines, a closet, and a full bathroom. "...Your room has gotten here?"
Magic was something that I was getting used to, my eyes were focused on the raspberry aura that was surrounding her scroll and quill. I did hear the question and answered before she spoke.
"I was minding my own business until some sort of lightning bolt suddenly struck my house. I realized that our lightning rod didn't get hit first which was a bad sign. Another sign is that the lightning came alive and surrounded my room. When I tried to get out of it, I got shocked and flew back to my bed where I was knocked out. Then I have this weird dream of a sun, moon, some sort of crystal heart and a pink star before waking up to find you and your friends." I scratched the back of my head, "Well it wasn't the greatest meeting that I've ever experienced."
She shook her head lightly, "Screaming at the top of your lungs because we talked to you can be a bit much on the ears." She giggled lightly as she wrote more, "Next question, can you explain what these are?" She points to the computer, gaming devices and the merchandise.
I point to my computer and gaming consoles, "This is a computer and those are gaming consoles or an arcade machine for the home."
She blinks a few times when I mentioned computer, "Wait, wait, wait. That is a computer?" She asked.
I nodded, "I suppose that your version of a computer is different for your world?" I wondered.
She nodded, "Yes a computer is about the size of this room, yet yours is much smaller to sit on a desk... I think.... I think your computer chips are smaller than ours."
"Yep, technology flourished when our first computer came out, and the smallest computer that we can make is the size of your hand, er, hoof." I pulled out my android phone and showed it to her to which her eyes sparkled. "But enough about that," I put it on my desk as I point to my merchandise, "This is basically the figures of a story or comic book." I didn't know if they have any manga in this world, so I had to simplify it a bit.
I believe she understood what I said as she wrote into her scroll and levitated an inkwell to dip her quill in. "All of this is fascinating Emerson, so did you have any questions for me?"
I hummed as I scratched my chin, "So I'm in another word," She nodded, "What creatures do you have exactly?"
"Earth pony's, Unicorns, Alicorns, Pegasi, Yaks, Dragons, Hippogriffs, Cat people, fishmen, Griffons, Diamond Dogs, and some others I can't think to the top of my head, but those are the ones that are sapient. We'll be here forever if I explained the rest." She informed.
I chuckled, "Well it's something at least."
She smiled, "Now if you don't have anymore-"
"I do," I interrupted her, "Sorry, but I wasn't finished yet."
She nodded in understanding, "Go ahead."
"What caused me to get here?" I asked as her ears seemed to droop down a bit.
"It's a long story, but to summarize, a creature named the Storm King, took away Celestia's, Luna's, Cadance's and my magic to take over Equestria. When he fired off the first lightning bolt, after he messed with the sun and moon, I believe that may have traveled to your world and took you and your room to here." She gestured to the Canterlot Castle view, "I know it's a lot to take in since it's only been a day, but I believe we can send you back."
I thought about it, like really thought about it. On the one hand, living in a colorful world could be a good idea for me to stay in. However, I would miss what's left of my family. My brother and a few aunts and uncles would miss me dearly, but since my mom and dad died due a car accident, they have left me alone to my own devices. Plus no one would believe me when I told them that I was teleported to a world of ponies and other fantasy creatures.
"I don't think I want to go home," I say aloud which made her quill stop in place.
"What do you mean? Don't you have friends and family back at home?" She wondered looking concerned.
"My brother can do fine on his own, as for the rest of my family, the majority have died through bad luck. Car, er, carriage accidents, rare and fatal diseases, and disappearing without a trace." I blinked on the last one, "Did a human named Jeff happen to get here?"
She blinked as she scratched the back of her head trying to think, "No? I don't think so, we didn't have any events that would send anything to the sky. Hmmmm...." She hummed in thought.
I waved my hand and that got her attention, "Don't worry about it now, but to just get a simple answer, no I don't want to go back, but I might want to do one thing."
"What's that?" She wondered.
"To send a letter back to tell them I'm going on a trip to which I'll never return." I smiled.
"You think that's going to be alright with them? I mean you'll be the only race, that we heard of, to be on Equestria." Then she raised her eyebrows, "Um... A bit off topic, but when my friends and I saw you, Fluttershy explained that you had canine teeth... Are you a..."
My eyes widened as I spoke out, "I'm an omnivore and I don't eat pony's." She sighed with relief as I continued, "But I need protein, so fish will do if the cows here are sentient as well.... They are aren't they." She nodded as I rubbed my temples. "But the fish are fine to eat?" She nodded again as I sighed with relief.
We were silent for a few seconds before she spoke again, "Are you sure?"
I nodded, "Never been so clear about my decision before, what do I have to lose?" I wondered.
She plopped down on her hooves and walked towards the door, "I'll let you get started on your letter then..." she suddenly turned, "Oh, one last question." I gestured with my hand to let her go on, "Do humans have magic?"
I shook my head, "In the ways of Illusion, yes, but practical magic such as teleporting? No, we don't have any magic. That's why we excelled in Technology to make things efficient for us."
She finished up the scroll with her quill and teleported them to some location, "The Royal Guard will be knocking on your door tomorrow morning to take you to Princess Celesta and Luna. Since you're a different species, there are some ground rules and laws you'll have to know so you don't get yourself in trouble by accident."
I smiled, "That would be great to know and I have one question as well."
"Go ahead."
"Don't be offended, but why don't you have a Queen?" I asked as I stocked my chin.
"Well, I-" Twilight stopped as she thought about it, "Very interesting. We have Princess's but no Queen of Equestria except the Hippogriffs have a Queen already... I honestly have no clue, but I'll ask Celestia once I get back to the castle."
"I won't hold you then," I smiled, "I'll probably see you in the morning?"
Twilight nodded, "Yes, I'll be there with Celestia and Luna."
I lend my hand for a handshake, "Alright, I'll see you then."
She looked confused a bit and gingerly offered her hoof which I shook it. "I would hug you, but I don't really know you that much so I felt a handshake would be better."
"Alright then." She smiled, "I suppose that will work. Until then Emerson." I let go of her hoof and she leaves my apartment.
I sighed as I jumped in my bed, "Welp, I'm here now, let's make the best of it."
I woke up earlier than usual, like ten minutes before my phone alarm goes off. I sighed as I got up and went into my shower.... To only find out that it's not connected to the water line when I turned on the faucet. Feeling defeated and somewhat sticky, I take my backpack and filled it with a fresh pair of clothes, a pen, a compass, and a bottle of water from two days ago. It was then there was a knock on the door. I bet those were the Royal Guards.
I get my socks and shoes on quickly as I stumble to get the door open. It wasn't the Royal Guard at all, it was just a Unicorn. She has a light gray mane with a dark gray coat and dark blue eyes.
"Oh, it's just you Miss Landlord," I said.
She snorted, "It's Snow Blossom, but I don't mind the nickname, makes me feel a little important, to say the least."
"So I guess you're here because the Royal Guards are here?" I asked.
Blossom nodded, "Yes, I didn't want them to interrupt the other tenents."
I grabbed my backpack and gestured to her, "Lead the way then." I step over the gap that was connected to my room and closed the door. Blossom's horn lit up around my door handle and smiled as she leads me down the hallway.
"Did you lock my door with your magic?" I asked as we went down the stairwell.
"Yes, since your room is a bedroom with a lock that can only be locked from the inside, I had to take some precautions." I nodded in understanding, even though Twilight told me that crime rarely happens in Canterlot, it seems Blossom knows how this area works.
When we reached the lobby there were two white Unicorn guards in Royal golden armor. They were having a conversation until we showed up from the stairwell exit.
I spoke, "I suppose that you're going to take me to the Princess?"
One of them nodded, "Yes," He looked at Snow and she nodded, "Let's get going, don't want to be late."
After walking with the Royal Guard in the nippy weather, I looked around the city of Canterlot and it looked empty. That was because the sun was rising from the horizon. I look to my left and some stores were opening up just by looking inside one of them. When we turned down the main road, I saw the large castle. Granted it was hidden from the windows of my apartment, but it was nice to see it in all of its glory.
We passed two more guards at an entrance as we took a left away from the main structure into a different section of the castle. One of the guards went ahead and opened the door for us. I said my thanks as we navigated through the hallways. Some of the maids were cleaning the floor and walls of the hallway but stopped entirely when they saw me. I didn't bother me much when they stared at me because I stared back and they went back to work on cleaning.
"You're going to get more looks like that in the future, just letting you know." The guard said as he opened the door that leads to a grand dining room.
"Have a seat and the Princess's will be with you shortly." He informed as he closed the door behind me.
I looked around the table and sat next to the chair that would be Twilight's because it was purple and had her cutie mark on top of it. I noticed that the other three chairs had a crystal heart, a sun, and a crescent moon in them as well. I was going to lean back and relax for a bit until the doors opened from the opposite of the room.
"Ah, I see our guest has arrived early." One said as I looked back to see two Alicorns. One was white with a flowing rainbow mane and golden regalia, the other was blue and had dark blue starry flowing mane with black regalia.
"Our guards have improved since the incident Tia." The blue one said as they made their way toward me.
I get up from my seat and cleared my throat, "I presume that your Princess Celestia and Princess Luna?"
They nodded as Twilight made her way in the middle of them, "Glad to see you Emerson and yes these are the princesses."
When they made their way towards me, I realized they were as tall as me. Granted I was 5'6 and their horns were the only thing making them taller. Other than that we would see eye to eye. Twilight's height, however, was just below my torso.
"Glad to see that I'm not the only tall one here." I chuckled as they smiled.
"Yes, it's nice to see someone as tall as us, but you're not the only one, however," Luna said.
"In any case, it's good to see you in better terms of course," Celestia said.
Twilight spoke out, "Let's have a seat then and have some breakfast."
The meal itself was wonderful, three thick blueberry pancakes with maple syrup. I did have to ask Celestia if it had any hay in it, but it didn't, which I was grateful. After several minutes of the dining room being silent and sounds of chewing, Celestia wiped her muzzle and looked at me.
"I reviewed Twilight's interview with you and I have some questions of my own." She informed as I swallowed another piece of pancake.
"Of course, as long as you can tell me what happened during the events that got me here," I said taking a drink of orange juice.
"I believe my student can answer that, but first, you said you don't want to go back. I understand that you practically don't have a family to go back to, so I will ask this. Are you sure that you don't want to return?" Celestia asked.
I sighed as I looked up at the ceiling then back to her, "Yes I am sure that I don't want to return, plus I'm up for something new in life." I look to Twilight who was stuffing her face with pancakes while looking at me and realized she needed to answer my question.
She swallowed her pancake, "Oh, right. To answer your question. The Storm King has been invading countries outside of Equestria, our home, and sent Commander Tempest to invade and prepare for his arrival. This was during a festival of Friendship I was hosting. She came into Canterlot with her airships to imprison Luna, Celestia, and Cadance in a dark crystal. My friends and I escaped riding the waterfall into a river and went to find help with the Hippogryphs. We met a cat named Capper, a pirate crew, and met the Hippogryphs that escaped going underwater by turning into seapony's. It failed due to..." She blushed, "My mistakes which got me captured by Tempest. Then the Storm King took away our magic, messed with the day and night as my friends went to rescue me. Tempest made a deal with The Storm King to get her horn back, but he betrayed her and was about to be sucked into a tornado. However, I saved her as my friends crashed into the King via party cannon. We worked together to get the staff that held our magic and after we retrieved it, the King tried to imprison us while we were caught off guard. However, Tempest saved us herself by getting her and the Storm King encased in crystal. I caught Tempest just in time as he fell to shatter into many pieces. After the party was finished the next day we saw something coming from the sky as it landed into the apartment complex. Then the rest is history."
We were able to finish our pancakes while she explained and I was dumbfounded to say the lease. "So is that a regular thing with you and your friends?"
"Yes Emerson, we are the protectors of Equestria, the Elements of Harmony." She says as she finishes her pancakes.
Before I could speak Luna got out from her seat, "The Elements of Harmony are Generosity, Kindness, Loyalty, Honesty, Laughter, and Magic. They dispel or seal any danger that might happen in Equestria."
"That's pretty awesome if you ask me, you and your friend are heroes." She blushed when I said that, "In any case, while discussing how I got here is nice to know, I would like to know what I could do to move to a comfortable environment." That got their attention, "Reason why is because the building that is currently sticking out of the complex is unstable. I don't want to wake up one morning and just fall to the ground floor because nothing is attached."
"That is a problem." Celestia hummed in thought.
"Maybe you could come to Ponyville?" Twilight asked.
"I don't know Twilight," I sighed, "I don't know how this world works, but I do know how to get things started." I look to the white Alicorn, "Celestia, how can I become a citizen of Equestria? When I become a citizen, can I be taught on how everything works in this country such as law, economics, housing, the works."
Celestia smiled, "We do have an immigration building here in Canterlot, and I believe when I get the proper papers, Twilight can teach you the know-how of Equestria."
"During the lesson, I can show you the locations of where you would like to live while we find out what your job is." Twilight informed.
"After your lesson with Twilight, I'll be helping you pack up your belongings from the complex building to where you would like to live," Luna explained.
I smiled, "So this will take a few weeks right?"
Celestia chuckled, "No, no, this will only take a few hours and if we find the proper job, and housing this can be taken care of in a single day.
My eyes widen when I heard that, "Wow. In my world, it would take a few weeks, even months to get adjusted to a new country."
"Well, you are getting help by the Princess's of Equestria." Twilight giggled.
I smiled, "Thank you, for everything."
"Alright Emerson," Twilight began, "Let's learn the basics of Equestria shall we?"
"Well, let's not go too deep in history, just the general timeline of what happened to shape this country," I informed the purple Alicorn.
Twilight and I were sitting at a table in the Loyal Library. She had ten stacked books beside her while she levitated the papers to my side.
"Oh, that's fine too." She chuckled while getting rid of nine of the books into their proper shelves. "Let's get started."
The History of Equestria itself is very jagged is the word I would use. Not much of where ponies came from, just when there were three tribes that were against one another, but suffered through a snowstorm. That is until they united as one making Hearth Warming Day which is a Christmas for our world. Then Celestia and Luna took over after the reign of Discord, Lord of Chaos, terror. Luna, corrupted by the Nightmare forces, turned into Nightmare Moon and was banished on the Moon by the Elements of Harmony. Thousand years have past and Nightmare Moon returned to only be purged by the users of Elements of Harmony by Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack, and Pinkie Pie. Together those six defeated many foes such as King Sombra, Tirek, Queen Chrysalis, and the Changelings. Recently, told by Twilight, she and her friends released the founders of the Elements. They were originally named the Pillars of Old Equestria, Mage Meadowbrook: Element of Healing, Flash Magnus: Element of Bravery, Mistmane: Element of Beauty, Rockhoof: Element of Strength, Somnambula: Element of Hope, and Star Swirl the Bearded: Element of Sorcery. These twelve, including friends, defeated the Pony of Shadows which caused the Pillars to be in limbo for a thousand years.
"Wow, so many conflicts solved by friendship, love, and magical gems...." I sat there looking at the book and sighed as I laid back on my chair, "Wish my world would do the same."
"Sounds like an exchange of history to me, unless you don't want to mention it. Which is fine." Twilight said.
I hummed, thinking about what I should tell her about my history. Then I told her a brief history lesson of my world, highlighting how the United States declared their independence, the World Wars, and some current events. "That is all I know from a general perspective... It's not a nice world, but we build from our mistakes to make thing better for us in the long run and for other generations to come."
Twilight was silent for a few minutes, "There's another world through a mirror that my friend is in and they have, if not similar history. Maybe I'll write her a message of a timeline of that world's history." She hummed, "With that out of the way, let's talk about our laws."
"I'm guessing it's common sense sort of context?" I asked.
She nodded, "Of course." Her magic teleported a small pamphlet right next to me, "Our laws are pretty standard, there is an official law book, but we'll be here all day trying to get through that."
I chuckled, "Well thanks for sparing me the trouble." I took the pamphlet and read it thoroughly. "Just as I thought, the laws were scarily similar to America's law, except for amendment 2 which is the right to bear weapons." I put it down as Twilight was looking at my pen.
"Mind telling me where all your ink is coming from?" She asked.
I grabbed the pen out of her magical grasp, her aura was warm when I did so, "It's basically in a plastic tube connected to a metal piece which has a metal ball holding the ink in. Once the ball or pen moves on paper..."
"The ink will be collected by the metal ball! Oh my goodness! That is amazing technology! It's so much better than Inkwells and Quills!" Twilight squeeing with excitement.
"Well if you want to, you can start producing these things and sell to a big company or just share it for those who need ink," I said.
"That could work. I can contact Filthy Rich and set an agreement to split the money between the three of us then." Twilight hummed as she shook her head, "We're getting off track, let's go to the next thing."
"Citizenship?" I wondered as I stretched my upper torso and arms, making their bones pop, which made Twilight flinch. "What?" I sighed in relief.
"Did you just pop your bones?" She asked.
"Yes," I realized that she might have been weird out, "Did I do something wrong?"
"No, no, it's just that it sounds unsettling."
"Oh," I rubbed the back of my neck, "So to the immigration center then?" I asked.
She nodded, "Of course. Let me teleport us there."
"Um, I did hear from Celestia that it was just a walk around the castle." I pointed out the window.
She looked out the window and made a sheepish smile, "Hehehe..."
Twilight and I walked down Canterlot Castle in silence as I took in the scenery. Grand marble pillars holding the walls of the castle made me just look up in awe. Only to be tugged by the hand with magic by Twilight.
"Please don't look around, you almost stepped on a maid." Twilight informed.
I look back to see a pony in a maid outfit who was scrubbing the floors with her hooves. I blushed as I looked forward and down a bit. "Sorry, it's just that I haven't seen a pure marble castle before. I was in awe of how beautiful it is and wonder how long it took to build."
"While it is amazing to look at, just be aware of your surrounds." She informed me as we went outside the Castle gates.
"I'll make sure of that." I said was we made a right turn towards a building with a sign that said, 'Immigration Center'.
This building was like Canterlot Castle by similar architectural design. It blended nicely as it transitioned from the walls to the building itself. Twilight and I walked inside to see that it was empty except for a few creatures. Three Hippogriffs, four Changelings, and one fish man were sitting in the lounge, waiting to be called for. They glanced their eyes towards us but went back to their own business.
We made it to the desk and the receptionist, who was a Pegasus, was sorting out papers with her wings. She had a very light blond mane with a light brown coat and her eyes were a hazel green. She wore a suit around her barrel with her cutie mark, a quill on a clipboard, showing.
"Good morning, how may I help you?" She asked.
Twilight searched through her saddlebag and pulled out a card. She slides it towards the mare, "We need to get Emerson here immigrated into our country, by order of Celestia herself."
The mare looked at the card, lifted it up with her wing and gave a small smile while sliding it back to Twilight's magical grasp, "Why of course, you two just head to Miss Petunia's office down the hall and to your right."
Thanking the receptionist named Rose Board, we made our way to Miss Petunia's office. Twilight knocked on the door and we waited for a response.
"Come in~!" A cheery voice said.
I grabbed the door nob and we entered into her office. The office had a grand dark oak desk with two chairs facing in front of it. The walls are decorated with picture frames of what it looks like Petunia's family. It was obscured by the light of course and the shelves were nice and tidy. The mare in question, turned around in a large chair to face us. She was a unicorn who had a white mane with a grey fur coat, her eyes were a turquoise color that seemed to brighten when she saw us both. She was wearing a suit like Rose was and had a desk, paper, inkwell and quill as a cutie mark.
"Have a seat you two." We did and they were comfortable, "My name is Petunia and I was informed by Celestia that you Emerson would like to stay in this country. While we would be happy to take you in as an Equestrian, you have to answer a few questions via parchment, quill, and inkwell." She informed as she levitated the papers to my hands.
"Of course," I grabbed my pen and started to fill answer the questions. They were mostly mundane and filled with common sense questions. After I finished three pages in ten minutes, I handed them back. She then looked through them and nodded.
"Everything seems to check out and now before we fill out your papers, Emerson, you need to pick a place for you to live in." Petunia opened the drawer and levitated three pictures to place on the desk. I leaned forward to get a better look as she continued, "Now you have three options, Ponyville, The Crystal Empire, and Manehatten."
"Why only three? I thought that there were many more places in Equestria." I said.
Twilight spoke up, "Not a lot of places in Equestria have housing available, many ponies are in the waiting list for those other locations we just can't take them off of it and put you in. That would cause trouble."
I nodded in understanding, "Alright, on the bright side, I at least have a choice to pick right?"
"That's the spirit, now where would you like to go?" Petunia asked.
I held my chin and looked at the photo's, "Hmmm...."
Author's Note
Alright, ladies and Gentlemen, you get to choose where Emerson lives. There will be a poll in the authors note for you to vote. Hope you liked the first chapter and leave a comment on what you thought about it.
After a day of voting, Ponyville won with 9 votes and the Crystal Empire was second at 8 votes. Manehatten had 3 votes, making it last. For future readers, I'll extend the days for you to catch up and vote. Probably two to three days of voting would be good.
Side Note:
This is going to be something new I'm working with since Sweetie Belle On Earth. Since then, I lost my inspiration and gained it back by co-authoring a story named Two Spells, One Mistake with Frozen Quill. Once there are enough votes on one particular place, I shall continue the story with the audience's decision. So, without a further ado, I introduce you to Emerson's Story.
