Emerson's Story - An Interaction Story
Checking Out Some Old Computers
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhile Status was examining the floor, to look for any weakness towards the reception desk, I walked forward carefully. There were sounds of metal creaking under my feet didn't really help my heart from beating any faster. Catrina held on to my shoulder, just in case, as I put my hands on the desk.
"I swear to the gods, if this floor collapse's on us, I'm going home," I said shaking my head.
"I won't let you fall," Catrina said, "Stratus check behind the desk if you would."
"Sure." Stratus nodded as she hovered her wings to check the floor with her talons, "There is a hole on the other side that leads into some sort of cave."
Getting my flashlight, I follow Stratus closely and shine it down the hole. Stratus's right, it was a cave that leads down to somewhere. Catrina tapped my shoulder and I turned to see that Catrina was looking at the opened left door. I leaned back and saw that the left door leads into a hallway which was connected back to the forest.
"Alright, I suppose this is the same for the right door then." I sighed as I cleaned the computer from being covered in vines and dust.
Hearing the right door open, I glance up to see Stratus shaking her head, "Well Zecora's right, it seems this hallway collapsed down this way."
"Thanks for checking you two," I say as I blinked when I saw the IBM PC Convertible with a printer connected to it, "Well hello there." I flipped up the screen to see it wasn't cracked.
"Will it work?" Catrina asked as I checked out the back and fished out the two round European plug.
"There is going to be some heavy conversion to plug into my modern computer, but I believe it can be done." I pulled in the second computer to my left and saw that is was nearly falling apart, "This one we can bring with us for replacement parts." I glance down the hole that leads to a cave, but something caught my eye.
"Stratus," The Hippogriff turned to face me, "How much can you carry?"
"If you're wondering about that computer, I can carry one." She said.
"While that is fine, I was wondering if you could lower me into that cave down there." I point down to the entrance.
"Ah," Stratus stretched her wings to hover, "Hold on to my talon."
Grabbing her talon, she lifted me with ease and as my feet were a few inches up, her wings were blowing the settled dust into the air. Stratus lowers me down into the cave as my feet touched the mushy ground. Once I got my footing, I signaled Catrina to come down by holding out my arms.
Catrina nodded as she jumped down and my hands grabbed her waist, but her breasts were smashed into my face. Which I didn't mind, plus I got a cute little moan from her as well.
Stratus, unamused by this when she landed coughed, "Emerson?"
Getting myself adjusted to where Catrina could walk right next to me, I cleared my throat, "Something caught my attention down here," I explained as I carefully walked forward, "It was something shiny."
"Like the time you pulled out that laser pointer?" Catrina huffs remembering the embarrassing moment.
Stratus tilted her head in confusion as I chuckled, "Something like that maybe."
The cave descended ten feet as it finally leveled out at the bottom. We didn't get far as the three of us came across a wall. There was nothing special about it, except for the fact that it looked like a sculpture of a pond that had a rippling effect on it.
"Huh, I thought I saw something shiny, but we run into a very strange wall," I said as my hand touched the wall to feel the rippling rings.
"That wall reminds me of Mount Aris for some reason." Stratus says as she looked up, "Um, I think I found your shiny thing, Emerson."
"Oh, my," Catrina said as she was looking up as well.
Looking up, my jaw drops seeing a crystal ceiling, it was filled with many colored gems that were melded with one another making a rainbow illusion. It seemed to be forming a trail from the beginning of the cave and it all bunched up towards the rippling wall. Curious about this, I used my fist and knocked on the wall. There was a sound on the other side.
"This wall is hallow." I look to Catrina who as fishing out the right vial and pulled out the one that can melt anything.
"Stand back," Catrina said uncorking the vial as Stratus and I stepped behind her.
With a flick of a wrist, she splashed the liquid into the wall and the splattered wall slowly started to melt like warm butter on toast. The place brightened up in a turquoise light as the wall revealed a small room where a crystal sat. There were a stalagmite and stalactite connecting to this glowing crystal that seemed to be pulsing. There were also a bunch of hanging roots that went up into the ceiling.
Foolishly, I walk forward, once the liquid dissipated, into the small room to get a better look, "This thing looks like a power crystal from Crash Bandicoot, only it's turquoise." Moving the dangling roots, my hand reaches to touch the crystal.
"Emerson wait!" Catrina shouts, but for some reason, it starts to echo.
"Don't touch it!" Stratus yelled and just like Catrina's shout, it echoed as well.
Despite hearing the protests of Catrina and Stratus, my hand grasped the crystal. There was a small humming tune that radiated my body, giving me goosebumps in the process. My eyes look into the turquoise crystal as I could have sworn something was humming inside my head.
Then it stopped.
'Oh? Something has finally reacted to me?' A voice radiates in my mind, 'This will have to do.'
I see my vision turn from perfect to suddenly zooming out to darkness. Now I was falling in pitch darkness and my back hits something soft. I quickly got up to find the darkness around me turned into a light turquoise room. The floor was cushiony green grass as I heard a noise behind me. Turning around, I saw a girl covered in turquoise with dark grey eyes. It was like she's sad or depressed.
"W-Who are you?" I asked.
"I could ask you the same." She jumped in the air with ease as she landed in front of me, "What's a human like you doing in Equestria?"
This raised more questions about her and my mind started to race, I looked into the sky as images... of my thoughts were passing by the sky?
"Your mind doesn't have much, but you're the only one that doesn't have a magical presence." She said as I faced her.
I gulped, "What is your name and why are we inside my head?"
She squints a bit as she spoke, "I really don't have a name, my creator tossed me away like I was another one of his projects. As for why I'm in your head, there are several reasons. One, to calm you down from a state of panic, two, something reacted to me to become fixed..." She taps her chin, "Fascinating, Uranium is what caused me to be in this state. Anywho, three, I'm looking for a host to become one with."
I blink once, twice, then a third time, "Alright, wasn't expecting to find an intelligent crystal being in this cave..." Then I realized something, "You're the one who caused the disaster?"
The being just tilted her head, "No, I don't think so, the disaster sent me back, fixing me in the process."
I hummed as I stroked my chin, "So, you're saying that your a crystal that doesn't have a name," She nods, "Was on Earth for who knows how long," Nodded again, "and the Uranium reacted to you, fixing what was wrong with you and you want a host."
"Pretty much straightforward," With one foot she jumped up and started to float, "While I wish I would have given you a choice if you wanted to be a host for me, I simply couldn't do that."
"Why is that?" I asked.
"As we speak your body is going through a process that would likely reject me, but since we're sharing the same mind and your hand touching me in the physical realm, were becoming one."
"There's no way to stop this?" I asked.
There was silence between us, however she continued, "I'm trying to put it into words, but yes there is no way to stop this, the way I was created or rather what I was meant for in the first place was to meld with something with life so I could grow and protect this world from danger. It had to be something that isn't touched by magic but only by nature. I believe my creator wanted me to become a tree sapling?"
I nodded, "So since I'm not a magical being, you're melding with my body instead?" She nodded, "Alright," I scratched the back of my head as I sat down on the grass, "While that's happening, what benefits would I get when you're melding with me?"
"Hmm, you seem... Calm despite what little panic I had to hold back." She sat down in a hook sitting position, "You do get benefits, my creator made six small shards that seem to make up who I am. These have... Different attributes, each one is unique. I'm not sure entirely myself of what they do. While you have those, you have me as a second consciousness, someone to help you in case you can't sense what's around you. I have healing aspects as well if you had an accident, such as a piece of rebar going through you, with my help, the pain should go away as his wound would be healed instantly."
I nodded, "This creator that you speak of, what's his name?" I wondered as her eyes turned to a shade of red.
"His name..." She sighed as her eyes turned back to a shade of dark blue, "Is Starswirl."
"I believe Twilight should be able to know who he is, but while we're talking, I want to give you a name at the very least," I said scratching my head.
Her eyes seemed to change to a light yellow, looking at me and giving off a positive vibe, "Really?"
"Well, yeah-" I wasn't able to complete my sentence as she hugged me. Her very petite body felt lukewarm against me. My arms wrapped around her to return the hug.
"What are you going to call me, Emerson?" She asked looking at me.
Author's Note
Now I know what your thinking, this will be more fleshed out next chapter. For now, let's give her a name everyone! It's shorter than any of the previous chapters due to the fact I had three exams this week alone and that was a horrible experience.
The results are in! This crystal being shall be named Jade! The name Jade won by seven votes, while Aqua had two votes and Indigo had one vote. The next chapter is now being worked on and the next decision for Emerson is in the works as well.
