"Y-You can TALK!? I never knew monkeys could talk! I thought you where like fish and that you just kinda did whatever. But this is sooo coool!" Scootaloo shouts in excitement.

"Am I not meant to talk? I'm confused." The tall creature asks as it scratches it's chin.

"I don't know. I've never actually seen a monkey before, I've only heard about them." Scootaloo explains.

"So..... Do you have any idea where I am?" The tall creature asks.

"Well you're in the Everfree forest. On the outskirts of Ponyville." Scootaloo says with a happy smile.

"Ponyville? I don't remember anything like that.... Well to be honest I can't remember much so I might have known it at some point." The tall creature mumbles.

"So. What's your name? Unless you WANT to be called monkey?" Scootaloo asks.

"My name?.... Name.... I can't remember it right now so let's just go with.... How about.... James? For some reason that name's in my head." The tall creature says with a look of confusion in his eyes.

"James? Sure, I can call you that!" Scootaloo smiles.

"So.... What's your name?" James asks.

"My name's Scootaloo." Scootaloo answers happily.

"That's a nice name you have Scootaloo." James says with a warm smile.

"Hehe. Thanks!" Scootaloo smiles back.

James stands up off of the tree stump and offers his hand out to Scootaloo.

"What?.... Oh! You want to do a hoofshake?" Scootaloo asks as realisation strikes her.

"Yes. A sign of peace. If that's okay with you I wan't to make this kind of.... Peace.... That we have to be official." James says as he patiently holds his hand out for Scootaloo.

Scootaloo grabs his hand and gives it a shake.

"Good. I at least know I can trust you. But I still need help remember a lot of my past. I remember little bits about my past. The important ones being, Breathing, Walking and talking. Some minor ones as well like what a hoofshake means and some useless stuff like that a shark has more then one row of teeth.... If only I knew what a shark was...." James sighs.

"That's okay James! I'll help you with your memory. I don't know much about nerd stuff like how brains work but I'm sure if we work together we could find a way to help you." Scootaloo says, her voice filled with enthusiasm.

"Thanks." James replies with a hearty smile.

"It's good to see you smiling a lot James. Being happy is a great thing and smiling is a way of showing the world that your happy! AAAAAANNND it's a good way to make others happy too!"

"I didn't know that. I didn't even know what I was doing was called smiling. So smiling is a thing I'll do when I'm happy or does me doing it make me happy?" James asks.

"Urm.... Both? I don't really know. I just know that smiling is important and that it should be done as much as possible. Well.... That's what everyone tells me." Scootaloo mumbles.

"What was that last part? The bit you said after 'It should be done as much as possible'." James asks with a hint of worry in his voice.

"Hmm? I didn't say anything. I think you might be imagining things." Scootaloo says with a defensive tone.

"I probably did. To be honest I have no idea if I'm imagining everything or if it's all real." James sighs as his mind is clouded with a feeling of sadness and a hint of loneliness.

"Hey! I'm real! All of this is real." Scootaloo points out.

"Then I guess I'm not imagining it." James mumbles as he looks at his surroundings.

"You're starting to smell abit James. You might want to get a bath. Oh! I know! There's a bath at my house! You can use that." Scootaloo starts to excitedly jump in place.

"I'll take you up on that offer. Thanks Scootaloo."

"Come on then! It's not often someone WANTS to come to my house." Scootaloo shouts as she grabs James' hand in her mouth.

She starts to drag him towards the exit of the forest. It takes a few minutes since she's essentially dragging James behind her. After they get out Scootaloo starts to drag James towards a run down house on the edge of a small town.

"You have a nice little quaint house." James says as the pair come to a stop in front of the run down house.

"Thanks. I know it's not much but It's enough for me to live in." Scootaloo says as she opens the front door.

Inside, the house is very dusty and pretty barren, nearly no decorations or wallpaper in the house. There's only one thing in the middle of the large room in front of them. A single table surrouned by 4 chairs.

"Oh you have a family? Will I be able to meet them?" James asks with a smile plastered on his face.

Scootaloo's ears flop to the sides.

"Urm.... No... They.... They are on um holiday. Sorry." Scootaloo mumbles as she sits at the table and stares at it as a tear starts to build.

"Scootaloo.... Are you okay?" James asks as he rushes to Scootaloo's side.

A tear drips form Scootaloo's face landing in a pile of dust, causing the dust to fly up off of the table and into the air.

"They're not coming back..... Are they?" Scootaloo asks with a sniffle.

"I don't know Scootaloo. i don't know. I don't know anything." James mumbles.

Scootaloo flops her head down onto the table causing a huge amount of dust to rise into the air and slowly fall like snow. Scootaloo starts to cry into the table.

"Why? Why did they go on holiday James? Why couldn't they have stayed home with me...." Scootaloo cries.

James pulls Scootaloo into a hug. He gently strokes her mane as he holds her.

"It's okay Scootaloo. You can let it all out." James whispers as he strokes her mane.
