A Midnight Rarity
An Evening Talk
Load Full StoryNext ChapterTwilight moaned, burying her face in Sunset's shoulder. The two lovers ground against each other on the bed, each using one hand to stimulate the other's clitoris. Sunset gasped and, with her other hand, squeezed Twilight's buttock. Twilight clung to Sunset's back and pressed her teeth against the base of Sunset's neck, stifling a moan. It was a warm summer evening, and the two of them lay naked together in their apartment, bare skin caked with sweat and other dried fluids, the bed-sheets already soaked beneath them. From Twilight's reactions, Sunset could tell her girlfriend was close, but Sunset wasn't far off either, and she wanted the two of them to cum together.
It seemed Twilight had the same idea, her motions against Sunset's growing deeper and more vigorous until Sunset wailed with pleasure. Although Twilight did indeed reach her climax first, Sunset was not far behind, and the two rode out their orgasms together, locked in a climatic embrace as the seconds shuddered by.
When the waves of ecstasy final subsided, the two rolled apart, gasping, Sunset's arm still around Twilight's waist and Twilight's arm resting on her lover's thigh. When enough strength returned, Sunset shifted back onto her side, facing Twilight, and swept a sheet over the two of them. Though messy, neither of them felt inclined to lift themselves up to clean — it would not be the first time the two of them had fallen asleep in this state, though they would definitely need to change the bedding tomorrow.
“I love you, Twilight,” breathed Sunset, bringing her free hand to rest of Twilight's navel. “So much…”
Twilight smiled, bringing her hand up to rest on Sunset's. She could smell her own sex on Sunset's breath, another residue of their evening's activities.
“I love you, too.” Twilight replied. “Isn't that lucky?”
It had been just over four weeks since the memorable morning in which Twilight had accidentally become pregnant with Sunset's child — the result of a magically-crafted set of (temporary) male organs, grown from Sunset's own body. Not enough time, yet, for any visible bulge in Twilight's belly, but more than enough for Sunset to adopt a fiercely caring and protective role towards Twilight — even moreso than usual. No-one, human or pony, was entirely certain what the effects of this magical conception would be, and Sunset had borrowed several books from Twilight's Equestrian counterpart.
The subject of marriage had not, as yet, been broached. At least, not between the two of them. Twilight had sought advice from some of her other friends though, who had strongly suggested that Twilight take no action but instead wait for Sunset to make the first move. Their collective unwillingness to share their motives suggested to Twilight that maybe they knew more than they were letting on, which suggested there was something more to know, and of course Twilight's friends were also Sunset's friends, and Sunset may also have gone to them for advice…
And so for the time being, Twilight had resolved to wait and see if Sunset would raise the subject.
Tonight, however, Twilight had another subject to raise.
“Hey, Sunset?”
“Hmm?” Sunset rested her cheek on Twilight's shoulder.
“I… I know we agreed that my Midnight power might be dangerous, for the baby…”
Sunset lifted her head slightly, but said nothing.
“The thing is… I've been talking to Midnight — with those visualisation techniques? And she agrees, but…” Twilight sighed, and shifted uneasily, “it's just that, well, she doesn't want to be cooped up inside me for nine months, you know?”
“Hmm… I guess I can see that, but… do you two have another suggestion? I mean, I know it would be inconvenient, but for the baby's sake…”
“Actually, I've been doing some research, on magically coalesced psyche manifestations… uh, that seems to be the correct classification for Midnight, at least based on the Encyclopedia Canterlotia… right? Um, and if I've understood the theory correctly — and Midnight agrees with me on this, though I suppose in this case that kinda just means I'm agreeing with myself, but — um, anyway, I think it should be possible to perform a temporary possession transference, without any risk to the baby. I mean, to be honest I already suspected as such before I read up on the theory, but I've compiled a list of references for arguments for and against, and I feel like all the available research really backs me up on this, so… what do you think?”
“I think…” said Sunset, shuffling in closer and sliding her hand down Twilight's navel, “that this is maybe a bad idea, but hearing you talk nerdy really turns me on.”
Twilight grinned, but her hand squeezed Sunset's and stopped it descending further. “Sunset,” she chided.
Sunset chuckled. “Okay, well… if you're trying to transfer Midnight to me, can you do that without transforming first?”
“I was hoping you could perform the transfer, using your Daydream magic. I could use what I've learned to help isolate Midnight and make things easier, but I wouldn't actually use any of my own power.”
Sunset bit her own lip thoughtfully. “I'm not sure having Midnight and Daydream together in the same body would be a good idea. They'd either cancel out, or…”
“So, maybe someone else? A willing host, of course — someone who understands what they're agreeing to — but that should be possible, right?”
“Maybe… I mean, I'd like to check over the theory, to be sure — not that I don't trust you, just that it doesn't hurt to have a second pair of eyes… did you have someone in mind?”
“I… Midnight and I were thinking, maybe, we could ask Rarity? I mean, only if you're okay with this.”
Hearing Twilight's tone, Sunset shifted her thoughts from the technical aspects of transferring Midnight, to the personal implications if they succeeded. She gazed into Twilight's deep purple eyes, considering what would make her girlfriend hesitant about this.
“I guess it would be pretty intimate, huh? Midnight's a part of you, after all.”
“Yeah… and I'm pretty sure if this works, Midnight would still have a copy of all my memories and experience, up to the point the transfer took place… that could mean sharing some really personal stuff with whoever became Midnight's host.”
“Yeah… and Midnight's a pretty sexual person… not that you're not!” Sunset hastened to add.
“No, I think she ended up with a disproportionate copy of my libido.”
Some time passed before Sunset spoke again.
“This could be a really personal thing, couldn't it?”
“Yeah…”
Sunset raised her hand to the side of Twilight's face, running fingers through her hair.
“Twilight… I love you. I want you to be happy. I like being the one… I like being someone who makes you happy. And I know you love me, and… and I love it when you express that. All the ways you express that.
“But… I know we've never talked about it, but… that doesn't mean I have to be the only one, okay? I don't have to be the only one you love, the only one who makes you happy… I'm just saying… if there's ever someone else, someone you want to be intimate with, then that's okay. I mean, I'd like you to let me know, and at least let me meet whoever it is, and maybe check that it's okay with me on a case-by-case basis, but…”
“So…” said Twilight, “is that how we are? Open?”
“I won't be, if you don't want me to. We're different people, and it doesn't have to be 'symmetrical', but… yeah. If it's someone we both know, and trust. Someone I know will care for you, like I do. I'm okay with that.”
Twilight rolled back towards Sunset, slipping an arm around Sunset's waist.
“I love you,” Twilight repeated, closing her eyes and pressing her forehead against Sunset's.
“Yeah you do.” Sunset teased.
“And I feel the same,” said Twilight, “if you want to be with someone else.”
“Mmm…”
The two lay still, eyes closed, until Twilight had almost drifted to sleep, when Sunset spoke again.
“So… Rarity, huh?”
Twilight's eyes snapped open, but Sunset's were closed. “Uh…” she squirmed slightly.
“We can ask her tomorrow.”
