A Monster in Equestria
Love and the World
Previous ChapterMy second attempt at writing a pony fan fiction. No clopping this time though >_< sorry.
All I could see was red when she said those words. She stood in the doorway across the room, her eyes looking away at something else. I couldn’t contain it much longer. “Look at me” I said under my breath. She shook her head and turned to walk out the door way. “LOOK AT ME” I roared while slamming my fist to the already broken table, breaking it in half. This got her attention. “Really Darius?” she said trying to keep calm. I now stood in front of her breathing heavy, unable to say a word. “You monster” she cried. My instincts took over I roared at her. Her hair flowing back as the wind of my rage pressed against her. I was calm now… “Your right, you don’t deserve me.” And I walked past her, never seeing her again.
“Darius? Darius!? WAKE UP!” Lilly Fae pushed me out of bed, my body slamming against the wooden floor. “Huh? What?” I looked around the room for any sign of danger. But of course there was just Lilly Fae looking down at me from atop the bed. She giggled looking down at me. I then pulled her head closer and kissed her. “Good morning to you too honey” I full heartedly said.
Our relationship has been wonderful the past week. Apart from the few times she missed the old me. But she was always seemed to look on the bright side of things. As all ponies do I suppose? She was happy I was alive and healthy. And I was happy to be out of my dull life and into this magical world. Who wouldn’t give up everything to be somewhere magical? I often thought.
Lilly Fae was already dressed, and ready to go, while I sat on the floor completely naked. “Get dressed, we are going to be late for the patrol” she ordered. Lilly has been helping me with my work, and reintroducing everyone to me. “It’s your job not only to be everyone’s hero, but their friend as well” She told me on my first day. “Yes ma’am” I saluted, and got dressed in my buckled coat and cargo pants.
We walked out the door, into Ponyville hand in hand. The smells of fresh hay and cider filled my nostrils. We walked across our little bridge, and into the street. Ponies were everywhere, doing their daily routines sweeping, bartering, galloping, sharing and even singing. As I walked by they all waved, I challenged myself to remembering their names as I greeted them. “Hello Carrot Top!”. “Hi there Mr. and Mrs. Cake.”. “Derpy how is it going?”. “Snips, Snails staying out of trouble?” “Doctor” I nodded my head as he passed by.
“Your doing so well” Lilly commented. And I was, being here only a week if I couldn’t name a pony, I could at least recognize them. Although it was still weird to see these “Ponymorphs” as I called them. They didn’t exactly have long faces like horses, but short round snouts. They had colorful fur and on their… Ahem “flanks” they had what was called a cutie mark representing that ponies special features. Of course it was obscene for it to be shown, but usually they wore something to represent it. For Lilly Fae it was a white rose. Not a Lilly which I always found to be weird but I supposed she was named before the cutie mark appeared.
Lilly and I made our way to the bazaar where we were going to by our groceries so different then going to a grocery store, yet so much more eventful and lively. Every pony went here to buy just about anything. As I started explaining a grocery store to Lilly we ran into the element of generosity. “Rarity” I took her hand and kissed it gently. She blushed “Oh my, what a gentleman!” she exclaimed. “Such kindness from the hero of Ponyville!” she said. “Are you kidding?” I asked. “You’re an element of harmony! I should be groveling at your feet” I joked. Lilly was getting annoyed with the flattery. “So Rarity what brings you to the Bazaar?” Lilly asked. “Oh just getting this and that” she pawed the air left and right. “You know Rarity I’m am extremely grateful for the outfit you made me!” I said. “Oh that old thing? That was ages ago darling, come by some time and I will make you a new one” She winked and turned waving goodbye.
I was such an idiot, as she walked off I thought how kind was she? Realizing I had just been charmed I slowly turned to Lilly to see her big ghost eyes watching me with her arms crossed. “Uhh hi Lilz” was all I managed to say before she kicked me in the shin. “Idiot” she murmured as she walked off.
“I guess I’m on my own” I said to myself scratching the back of my head. I made my way back home, it would be getting dark soon. Maybe I could set up a nice dinner for her, before she got home. Then I thought about the groceries, “ehh she can get them herself besides that kick to the shin really hurt”. “Help” I heard Sweetie Belle scream.
I instantly ran toward the scream, “what could it be?” I thought to myself. Of course, when I saw it I wasn’t exactly surprised. Diamond Tiara was tugging at her mane, and had her cornered back behind a hay barrel. “Tiara! Stop Stop Stop!” I hollered at her. She kept at it viscously intent to pull out every last hair. I grabbed her hands gently as not to pull anymore of Sweetie Belle’s hair. I pried open her hands and leaned back against Tiara so that she didn’t grab anymore hair. I had them both separated now, both too tired and small to fight back.
“Tiara” I started in a stern voice, “Why were you pulling on her mane?”. “She and her friends keep getting away with their blank flanks! Always causing trouble and being so… uncool!” She whined. “Tiara, that’s no reason to cause any violence” I started before she interrupted me with. “You’re one to talk! All you do is look for trouble!” “Tiara, I do it to save people from further harm, not to punish them”. She wiggled free and started off “That’s not what my daddy says” she called as she disappeared around the corner.
“Thanks Mr. Human” Sweetie Belle said with relief. “She is enemy number one of the cutie mark crusaders! I just didn’t know she would strike so soon!” She explained. I was worried now “Belle, I’m going to tell Ms. Cherilee about this, I want you to keep your distance from Tiara for a while ok?” “Yes sir Mr. Human Sir!” I smiled gave her a pat on the head, and walked her home.
By the time I got home I was exhausted, I crossed the happy little bridge, and trudged to the front door and opened it. As the door opened I noticed candle light, and the table was set. “Oh! Your home! I haven’t quite got everything set up” Lilly blushed. “I was going to put on a dress but…” I stopped her there with a finger to her lips. “No need, you look stunning…” She rewarded me with a peck to the cheek. I pulled out her chair and presented her seat. “Madam Lilz” I joked to lighten the mood. She rolled her eyes and took the seat. I poured her some cider, and joined her.
“How come your home so early?” she asked. “Early? I’d say im late to be exact.” i said sternly, but as a joke. “I figured you’d be off flirting with more ponies” her words stung. “Well now, it so happen I did run into a nice young filly” I started “I even saved her from her demise” I poked my salad (oh did I mention there was salad at the table?) and plopped it in my mouth. She raised one eyebrow “Oh? Who would that be?” tensed up and all jealous. “Sweetie Belle” I laughed. She joined my laughter and we laughed for some time.
“Oh yes it was quite horrible.” She started. “They were everywhere, it was so out of hand they ate everything!” she exclaimed. “But they’re so little how much could the possibly eat?” I asked “Well human” she poked my chest from across the table. “You’re not on earth anymore” she teased. But her face shot with pity. “I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to…” “No, no your fine, to be honest if I had an option in the first place I would choose to be with you over everything I owned on earth.” I admitted. Besides I never really thought of my missing my family much or anything. “What are you trying to say?” she blushed. “I think you know what im trying to say, but you just want me to say it.” I crossed my arms refusing to say the words. “Pleeaaasseee” she begged. I just looked the other way, teasing her. That’s when she jumped across the table spilling salad all over the room. “Say it!” she yelled, trying to pry open my mouth. We were laughing for what seemed like hours. And when we settled down she kissed me on the lips and finally out with the words. “You mean the world to me”
We laid on the floor kissing each other, and exchanged sweet words, when we heard sudden loud shrieking. We both stood at attention, looking at the window to find black smoke rising from the town hall. “Let’s go!” Lilly yelled. “No you stay here!” I commanded. “Darius we are a team remember?” She reminded me. I looked at her with great concern. “Let’s go then” I started running.
As soon as I opened, the door I noticed what sort of trouble we were in. The sky was on fire and screams of panic filled Ponyville. A boulder slammed into our bridge that crossed the creek leaving it in ruin. I looked back to Lilly Fae and nodded. We sprinted through the streets, our eyes tearing up from the smoke. No time to stop for breath, we held our heads low and made our way for the town center dodging panicked civilians as they ran against us.
Finally we were close to the town hall. Lilly and I hid behind a toppled over hay cart. We peered over to see what lay before us. There was a Female Gryphon dressed head to toe with armor holding the Mayor hostage. The town hall itself was guarded by two Gryphon crossbowmen. I looked down at the steps to find the Elements of Harmony fallen and beaten badly. I turned to Lilly “Alright this looks bad, but were going to do it like we practiced ok?” She was panicking, she was already tired and out of breath. And to top it all off what seemed to be catapults were pulverizing the city around us.
“Lily” she looked at me. “For this world and the next” I pointed to her heart. A tear rolled down her cheek, and she nodded. “Ok babe hang in there; like we practiced!” And I was off, leaving her behind the toppled over cart.
With all the commotion about it was easy to sneak into the back of town hall. I made my way up the stairs to the first balcony were the crossbowmen where. The first guard was looking down at the armored Gryphon. I checked the other guard, he was looking away. Now was the time to make my move. I looked down to where the toppled over cart was and nodded my head. I sneaked up behind the first guard. And before he could squawk I stomped on him back paw while flipping him back. Lilly’s conjuring magic created a baton in my hand to knock the guard unconscious. He was down, and I made my way to the other guard. The batons magic had worn out disappearing in my hand. I sneaked up behind the other guard, using a rod Lilly had conjured for me, to choke him out. He struggled a bit, but with his last motion he shot his crossbow, landing next to the armored Gryphon.
“Who dares shoot at me?” she squawked, looking up to see me throw the guard to the ground. Her eyes narrowed beneath her helmet. “The human” she laughed. “Not even the precious Elements of Harmony could stop me. I will get my revenge on Ponyville, and top it all off I place you head on a pike right next to that bitch Pinky!” “You can still return to where you came from Gryphon release the mayor!” “What do you think I am? A fool?” She leaned down to kill the mayor when all of a sudden a rock hits the armored Gryphon in the head knocking her back a few steps away from the mayor. That’s when I sprinted toward her. She thrusted at me with her spear. But Lilly created a staff in my hands as I flipped through the air. Laying the staff down against the spear landing on it and rolling under the armored Gryphon. When I reached her feet a dagger spawned in my hand, I then plunged it into the Gryphon’s paw spewing blood on my face. I quickly got up picking the staff up on the way. I then stood over her, staff in hand as I pressed it against her neck.
“Do you yield Gryphon?” I asked pressing the staff deeper into her neck. “Gilda the Great never yields”. My staff’s magic then wore out, disappearing into dust and the dagger shortly along with it. She then flapped her wings and kicked me off. “I’ll be back ponies, and next time I do ill bring the whole Gryphon Kingdoms with me!” She cursed as she flew away.
I looked to see if the mayor was alright. I was surprised to see the Cutie Mark Crusaders surrounding her and Sweetie Belle with a sling shot in hand. I gave the girls a quick thumbs up and looked to toppled over cart to see Lilly Fae unharmed and making her way to help. A shot of relief hit my chest. “Are we safe now?” Apple Bloom asked innocently. I shook my head “We still need to take out those catapults” I admitted. But as I said that over our heads flew the Wonderbolts wearing their Royal Cavalry outfits. “Look! The Royal Legion is here!” Scootaloo called out. I was worn out, and the second shot of relief hit me so hard I fell to my knees.
Gilda’s thirst for murder was a failure. She killed no one, but caused serious harm to almost every pony. And her maniacal tactics with the fly-in catapults ruined the entire city. Thanks to my “valiant” efforts the day was saved, and the mayor and Elements of Harmony were safe. Relief efforts began on Ponyville immediately, saving lives and providing rations. As well as providing temporary housing. The mayor worked together with Twilight Sparkle and her brother Shining Armor General of the Royal Legion. Everything was going to be alright. But Gilda the Gryphon still remained at large.
