SPOIL ME: One day, Celestia refuses to raise the sun and challenges her court to give her one good reason why she should. (It turns out she slipped and lost the thing amid the cosmos.)

FoME's Past Precedent (Str8aura's "Make Me")

After another round of frantic whispering among the nobles—the filly-slapping was right out, what if she demanded to slap one of their foals?—another brave soul stepped forward. "Your Highness, you must raise the sun!"

Cold and imperious, Celestia stared back at the stallion. "And why is that? Especially since none of you have agreed to my entirely reasonable demand?"

"Consider every other time the sunrise has gone awry in recent years," said the stallion. "The Storm King, the Everfree run amok, Discord, Nightmare Moon..." He went stiff as his words caught up to him, prostrating himself before Luna. "Begging your pardon, Your Highness."

Luna waved it off. "My misdeeds while driven mad are a matter of public record. You need not apologize for speaking the truth, good sir."

"However," said Celestia, "I still don't see why this compels me to raise the sun."

"It's been almost a whole day, Your Highness. Your student and her friends will likely be here any moment now." The stallion shrugged. "You know how they are. They're going to shoot rainbows first and ask questions never."

Celestia blinked, harsh expression softening into worry like a butter sculpture in an oven. "Ah. Well." She turned to her sister. "Luna?"

That got a wingshrug and a grin. "Don't look at me, I can't help you."
