Chapter 19, Ah The Harmony

Previous Chapter

(After Twilight's apology)

I went out of the gym with a satisfied, kind of goofy, smile. Feeling great to let my feelings out, I sighed and clutched the straps of my purple backpack, staring ahead as students walked by. Unfortunately for me, one of them happened to be Sunset Shimmer.

My smile immediately vanished as my eyes landed on her. The events from yesterday washed up on me again and I quickly felt guilty and regretful. She must've noticed my stare because she turned around, looked me in the eye, and gave me a wink along with her signature smirk.

I blushed a miniscule bit and slightly made a pouty face as I decided to approach her, my head tilting down a little... Maybe a lot more bit... I can't even make full sentences! This woman, what is she doing to me?!

No, no, Twilight, you owe Sunset. Remember? You snook in her house, it was you who's the problem, not her.

But she's definitely the sole reason of everything I did, so technically it's all still on her.

Nevertheless, I stood in front of... I don't even know my status of her anymore, and looked down at my shoes, the material responsible for hiding my fidgety feet.

"Hey," I greeted quietly.

"Hey yourself," she said, just as timidly as I had, surprisingly.

There was an awkward silence that seemed to stretch on forever, and I don't know if she felt the atmosphere too. It was some type of... I don't even know how to explain it. It's like I feel awkward, but at the same time there's something pleasant permeating the air around us. Kind of like that shock whenever we touch each other. It's just there, sitting idly by, waiting for the perfect moment to show, like predator and prey.

I took a deep, calming breath, and let it go, finally looking up at her to see that she was looking elsewhere, as if bored. But I can see through that façade now, and that she was truly feeling nervous. Since when have I ever had that sixth sense I have no idea.

But here it goes.

"Sunset... I just... I wanted to apologize-"

"Again?" She raised that eyebrow at me again, trying to fight off a smile. I can tell based on the twitches her lips occasionally gave.

"Again," I gave her an embarrassed smile, smacking myself mentally for whatever possession came over me, "uhm... Well... How do I say this... You kind of..." I looked away, fighting the urge to tell her. Some part of me was still in denial.

"I kind of...?" She trailed, hoping to lead me on.

Feeling rushed, I closed my eyes and rapidly said, "you kind of intrigued me that night at the party, and so from that moment on, I've kind of been hot on your tail... Even now..."

I had my eyes shut, so I couldn't see her reaction, but thankfully human nature won and curiosity made me lift my eyelids a little bit to see. Sunset didn't look as surprised as I had expected. On the contrary, she seemed to have expected as such, and was looking at me as if I had been involved in a crime scene and had been the number one suspect and I was the culprit all along.

"Wow... That's a lot to take in." She really needs drama classes badly.

"Don't fake it, Sunset. How did you know?"

"... It's not your bis..." She rolled her eyes and looked to the side, as if contemplating.

"Come on... I mean... Sorry, I won't pry anymore. I just swung by to apologize, that's all..."

"... Okay..."

And I thought Fluttershy was the most silent person I've ever met.

A few crickets chirped in my head, and I immediately shook it and gave her a strained smile.

"Okay... I'll see you around then..." And with that, I turned my back on her.

But then, something grabbed me by the waist, latching onto it like a vine, and I squealed when I was suddenly squashed into something soft but firm, built but at the same time feminine.

"You don't wanna do..." I had my back on Sunset Shimmer, shivering from the overwhelming amount of sparks igniting here and there, and so I was startled, but oddly pleased, when I felt her breath on my ear. "Something else?"

I gulped, either in fear or pleasure I wasn't sure, but one thing was for certain. Sunset had the hots for me.

Breaking from the heavenly haven that was her, I backed up, looking at her like crazy.

"First at the party, now this?! What's the matter with you?!"

"I just want you," she pouted and tried to grab me. "Correction. I need you."

The sudden transition from shy to grabby startled the living daylights out of me, so it's completely natural to back off and try to run away without going off like a scared bird.

"Uhmm... You know what? I think I'll just go..." It was then I noticed the huge crowd surrounding Sunset and I, some even with cameras, others laughing, and others even looking jealous.

"Good luck with that." When I looked back again to meet her eyes, it flashed a little bit of yellow. That was when I questioned my sanity. But as soon as it appeared, it vanished, and I blinked to make sure I was still awake. A few precious seconds passed with neither of us uttering a word, but it sure made the audience grow antsier as the time ticked.

"Alright then, you don't love me, then I guess I'll just go and leave you with all of the student body who might want to interrogate you for what just happened," Sunset raised her hands in mockery and turned her back to leave.

The mention of the entire campus made me snap out of my trance, and without thinking, I grabbed her by the arm and was able to desperately make her face me again. Even though she had that knowing and triumphant smirk on her face, this was one of those moments where I had to give up my pride for the salvation of myself.

"Wait... Don't leave me here," I pleaded.

"Oooh, now look who's needy," she smirked.

I bit back a remark and showed her my best-winning begging face, though not as great and effective as Fluttershy's, it still has certain charms.

Sunset groaned and rolled her eyes, face drooping to a frown. "Alright, four eyes. Go out with me on Friday night, or, stay here."

"What?! Why? What are we going to do exactly?"

"I proposed, I'll plan it. I've got a good place in mind-"

"Why of all people do you want me to go with you?"

"Because I want to-"

"Why?"

The crowd was looking at Sunset expectantly now, to which the latter ignored and instead crossed her arms in defiance.

"None of your business."

I raised an eyebrow, hinting her that this was very much my business. After all, I'm included in her little fancy getaway.

"If you don't tell me, I'll-"

The words I was about to spit got choked in my throat when, in a neck breaking speed, she had me in her embrace once again, my back to her as she cuddled me from behind, nuzzling her nose gently to my neck.

"Or what," she whispered huskily, and I can tell from the tone of voice she was smirking behind my back.

I was speechless. The attention I'm suddenly getting from the crowd and Sunset herself were overwhelming! I wanted to puke. It was the worst feeling I could have ever imagined. And the speed! The speed she had when she grabbed me from behind! I was unable to react at all, completely unresponsive. I blinked several times, which was now a usual occurance whenever she's around, and tilted my face slightly to get a glimpse of her smirk, a blush unknowingly spreading across my cheeks.

"Hey! Hands off our girl!" Suddenly, there was a blur and the next thing I knew, I was grabbed from the vicelike grip, which was at the same time oddly comforting, of Sunset and into the sea of students.

It was Rainbow Dash who had grabbed me and made me stand beside Fluttershy, who immediately examined me for injuries, but before I could say anything a loud "CRUNCH" noise sounded, making me turn back to find Sunset on the floor holding her cheek, and Pinkie standing in front of her looking the absolute copy of the demon. Sunset suddenly looked up, fury gleaming dangerously in her eyes, and stood abruptly, so fast I almost thought she would topple over. I analyzed the cheek Pinkie hit earlier, only to find the surprising result that it wasn't broken in any way!

"Your girl? You f:flutterrage:cking crossed the line, you b:rainbowlaugh:tch!"

Upon hearing this, Pinkie grew even more mad and growled, crouching as if in preperation for a pounce. Sunset mimicked not a second later. They were about to lunge at each other, but then good thing Applejack and Rainbow both held Sunset back, while Rarity and Vinyl Scratch stopped Pinkie.

"What is going on here?!" The sudden appearance of Principal Celestia snapped all of us out, but Sunset and Pinkie as they continued their death stare contest.

"I smell the aroma of violence in the air, Dear Sister," Vice Principal Luna stood by her side, narrowing her eyes at the scene before her.

"Sunset Shimmer, Pinkie Pie, report to the principal's office. Now!"

Author's Note

Sorry, I have a cold, my brain won't stop for a sec and would continue stimulating itself that I had to sleep for most of the week. I'm still sick, but the effects are wearing off. And yeah, that's how I get sick. I would venture to new ideas but not be able to cause my body disapproves, so its like I have a bipolar body system or whatever. I don't know if that's just me... It probably is tho...
