"Pinkie?"

I approached the party planner, who, true to her title, was enflating balloons with a sugar rush. She stopped a moment to acknowledge me with a bright grin and a cheerful "heya, Twilight!" before going back to her work.

"Uhm... Yesterday... Remember," I told her. It was then that she stopped moving, held her breath, and visibly gulped.

"Y-yeah?" The way she said it, it was like she was jittery, like how every student would feel for an upcoming exam.

"You... Well, I don't mean to sound rude, but... You kinda... Left us back there. Is there any reason behind that? I-if there is any, Spike and I want to know," I said firmly, the events from yesterday flooding back to me, and I instantly shivered at those piercing gazes of both the Shimmers.

"Uh... Well..." She looked to the side and bit her lip, "... I... Am sorry," she said in shame, looking down at her boots as if they suddenly were too interesting. "I know I abandoned you guys... It's alright if you and Spikey want to unfriend me... I was a total uncool unfriendly jerk friend."

"Pinkie, Spike and I aren't mad, we're just..." I put a hand on her shoulder, making her look up, "confused, is all. We didn't really expect you to just-"

"Take off? Leave my friends when they needed me the most?," her hair deflated, like it usually does when she's feeling depressed, and she looked back down, breaking our eye contact.

"Pinkie, listen. Spike and I aren't mad at you, okay? We're confused as to why you just jumped out of the window like that, that's all." I tilted her chin, which made her instinctively look at me in the eyes. "And we want to know why."

Suddenly, the unexpected happened. She grabbed me by the shoulders, taking me by surprise, and hugged me tight, her shoulders racking as if she were sobbing. I instinctively hugged back, and felt moisture dripping onto my clothes. She was crying.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't tell you! If I did, I would be breaking a MILLION of promises, maybe even more, maybe a gazzilion-trillion-zillion of promises..." She sobbed, "besides, you wouldn't believe me."

"Who said I wouldn't?" I sighed, "Pinkie, a friend always listens and believes to whatever her friend has say. You taught me that, remember?"

There was a pause. Then, she sniffled and her hug became slightly loose and unforced.

"Uh-huh," she replied shortly.

"Then believe me when I say, whatever secret there is behind you running away like that, I wouldn't ever shrug off a single word."

"... Not even proverbs?"

I laughed, "not even proverbs."

With that, she pulled away slightly, but we were still in an embrace, although we were slightly apart enough to look each other in the eye.

"But still, I'll be breaking a BUNCH of promises! It would leave me all icky and yucky feeling," she pouted.

"Well, you don't have to tell us. I know how you take your pinkie promises seriously," I giggled, then gave her another friendly and gentle hug. "But... Maybe don't scare us like that, okay? We were worried that you might have been suddenly offended by all of that."

"Okie dokie," she squealed and squeezed me with the strength of a bear.

"A-and... I-I... Wanna... Kinda... say so... Something else... If-if you could please... Let go," I wheezed and squirmed uncomfortably in her hold, trying to get in as much air as I can.

"Oh, right," she loosened, and I took a huge gulp of air, then readied myself.

"Sorry for dragging you and Spike into that mess. I honestly didn't know what I was thinking."

"No problem! As long as you don't be all grumpy wumpy pants about it," she laughed and hugged me again, and I hugged back just as hard, joining in her laughter.

"She didn't tell you? Aw man, so I pissed my pants for nothing," Spike pouted through the other end of the line, stuffing himself with ice cream probably, based on the short pauses and shlicking noises on occasion.

"But at least we know she isn't mad. She really seemed to regret it, though," I said while catching a glimpse of pink amongst the cluster of hairs in one of the cafeteria windows.

"Still, I wanna know why," he said.

"That's what I said too, but she insisted, because, and I quote, 'she'll be breaking MILLION, or maybe even ZILLIONS, of promises!' And you know her and her pinkie promises."

"You have no idea," he shivers. "But hey, at least she doesn't hate us, right?"

"Why would she?"

"I dunno. Someone who runs off like that probably hates someone in the room."

I let out an angry noise, glaring at the wall as if it was Spike.

"Okay, okay, a little too far."

"Anyway... So Spike, how's your day? I heard your best friend Ember became class president."

He gasped, "how'd you know?!"

I smirked smugly and looked at my nails, "oh, I have resources."

"YOU STALKED ME?!"

"No, you idiot."
