chapter 1: A forgotten truth
As sunlight broke through the clouds it began to cascade upon Golden Hoof orphanage in the small village of Clopten. Within the darkened halls of the orphanage stirred a crystal white unicorn, as vinyl opened those big,beautiful rubies that were her eyes and glared out the window, shielding her eyes with a hoof she sat up in her bed and groaned. "Ugh what time is it? This is ridiculous, I shouldn't be awake so early it isn't natural." And with that the mares head hit the pillow with a soft thud, this peace however was to be short lived as a grey earth pony with a jet black mane entered the room.
"Vinyl!?" she gasped "what are you doing in bed still, its eleven O' clock" she waited for a response but was only answered by a short dismissive grunt, "Honestly Vinyl, you really need to stop being so lazy."
"Oh come on Octavia give me a break, im tired."
"Because you were up all night playing with that sword like a barbarian" said the grey pony.
"I wasn't playing, I was training."
"Oh Vinyl, when will you ever need to use a sword." asked the black maned pony "I know that only the most skilled wizards can use magic with their horns, so that's cant be used but still, when will you be in a fight that requires a sword."
"Exactly! you never know. Anyway lets go outside for a bit, i cant get back to sleep when I'v been awake so long." Said Vinyl as she got out of her bed. Vinyl got out of bed and put on her worn leather clothes and began to trot to the entrance of the orphanage and wait for her friend to get ready, "ugh this will take her ages" moaned the unicorn. "why does she always take so long to get ready, I mean its not like she will stay that way, we always get muddy when we go outside, so why dress up like you're going to the grand galloping gala." After twenty grueling minutes Octavia walks into the hall dressed in a smart green dress and rather fetching emerald encrusted shoes. "Tavi!? Aren't those you're mothers shoes?"
"Yes Vinyl of course they are, why?"
"Those are the only things left to remind you of you mother and I, I wont let you leave this building with them!"
"And why not Vinyl?" said Octavia with a devilish grin."
"Because we are leaving the city for a bit remember and I don't want them to break or get stolen because..."
"Because?" asked Octavia.
"because I care about you and don't want to see you get hurt because of some shoe's."
"well, well, well, i didn't know you cared so much about me Vinyl" smirked Octavia, okay I'll go change." Later that day the two ponies were playing in the sunshine and enjoying what the gods had given them, all their playing and running around had brought them to a small cave, just as "The Heroic Adventurer" was about to jump on the "Bandit Queen" Octavia they both heard a moaning from inside the cave. "Uh, Vinyl whats that noise."
"Whatever it is, it sounds like its in pain. Quickly Tavi we have to help."
"I don't know Vinyl that cave is awfully dark, we don't know whats in there."
"Well stay here then, but im goin' in.
