Frost Bite's Life

Today was a beautiful morning inside of Equestria, because the birds were chirping and singing their little tunes, animals going along with their own business, and other bat ponies heading towards their jobs for the day. In my town it was fun, because of how peaceful and friendly every bat pony was there. They were so sweet to one another that I couldn't see them even harm a fly.

I loved my whole family, because they were always sweet and caring to me. I would make a mistake on something and they would kiss my forehead and say "everything will be okay".

My brother was the most that I had pain attention to, because he was in Princess Luna's army at the time. I had never seen a bat pony in armor before, and I always wanted to follow in his hoof steps, but my parents told me that mares can't join then army. which was the weirdest thing I have ever heard any pony say to me, but I just shook it off as a joke, they had played on me to not to join.

After a while of waiting for Princess Luna's arrival, we had finally seen her being transported by her troops to our village. She honestly looked pretty in her beautiful dress. The beautiful night blue dress with a half moon and just lightly coated with glitter. I didn't care what any pony has to say about her dress. I wanted to have a dress just like hers, but I wouldn't ever be able to afford such a dress.

For the first time she had actually looked down at me and smiled. I was so happy that I jumped in the air and fell flat on my face. It honestly was the most embarrassing thing to ever happen in the world, but when I lifted my head, she was standing right in front of me and I hugged her leg instantly. I saw my mom run up to me, and I was scared that she would get mad at me, but seemed very calm about it. Until I almost forgot who she was talking to, then it hit me like a hoof to my face.

"She really likes to hug I see."

"Princess Luna, I am so sorry for my daughter's actions and frost go home."

That night I had felt like such an idiot for hugging her leg, because I didn't know what got over me to do that. Every pony awed and called me cute for it, but for my mom, it was embarrassing. My brother had came into my room to comfort me, and I was happy he did, because I would have cried throughout the night, but when he is with me, I think to myself how much protection I have.

"Hey sis..?"

what do you want...

"look. I know mom did that, but why hug Luna's leg?"

I didn't mean to okay!

"Sis, you know it's okay right?"

I knew it would be okay, but I felt so ashamed that I had done that. Other ponies had laughed at me, for a couple of days because they had watched me do it. I kept skipping school, for about a week, until my friends at school started to get worried about me. I honestly don't know why though, but I guess every pony has something to worry about.

I was asleep and in the middle of the night, I had heard my door open, but I just fell right back asleep thinking it was just one of my family. I felt it poke me as I slowly woke up and weakly looked at the figure, all I could see was just pitch black as out of nowhere it had jumped at me and screamed.

I woke up screaming without warning, and crying in my pillow, but I wanted some pony to comfort me. I saw my brother come in and hold me close as I just kept crying inside of his chest. The pain that I had felt is just unbearable, because I have never experienced a nightmare before, and I hated the feeling of it.

"Hey shh shh frosty it's okay, it was just a nightmare."

I-It was scary!

"Shh shh sis I know, but it will be okay."

His chest instantly floofed up, and all I could do is just close my eyes and I immediately fell asleep, snoring a little as I am one to wrap my wings around myself. The last thing I heard him say was "cute" until everything just went black. About a few hours later I woke up, and it was during the middle of the day. I had looked inside the mirror to see that i'm just a filly like usual, nothing really special about me.

I had put on my little stocking that my mother had gotten me, they were the color of my mane, and eyes. I loved them very much and I put on a little coat because it was a little chilly outside. My mother and I were walking out towards the town square because she told me that my brother was getting deployed back to Canter lot, where Princess Luna is at. I was super happy for my brother and Luna promised me to let me know everything about my brother.

I walked up to my brother and he had picked me up, so I can be on his back. Being me, I had crawled on his head and jumped flying up. I had trouble flying so I instantly started falling, but thankfully my brother had caught me and we both shared a giggle. Soon after I started to tear up because he told me that I wouldn't see him for a while, and that is one thing I don't want to have to deal with is losing him.

Another soldier walked up to him with a spare set of armor and he gave it to me, to keep. I saw him talk with my parents and they told me about joining when I get older, but I had to do a lot of chores. I just groaned and went to lay on my back until my father picked me up and tickled me. I hated tickles because of my laugh, it was very embarrassing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~One Week Later~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A week has gone by, and I couldn't stop missing my brother, because he meant everything to me, and if I ever lost him, I didn't think I could ever stop crying. He was the one that comforted me when I was sad, and protected me. My parents do that also, but they were just so busy, and I couldn't make them quit their jobs, just to take care of me. They told me that I was growing up to be a mare and I needed to learn to take care of myself some day, and I knew they were right about that.

I woke up the next day, getting ready for school and a beautiful scent instantly caught my attention. I had remembered what the smell was, and I rushed out of my room to the kitchen to find that my parents made breakfast for me. I was super happy because I got to have a nice breakfast on a nice day, but I still cant get my brother out of my head.

During school, I had been talking with some of my friends, and I met some new ponies that day. I was super happy because I always want to make some more friends, so we can have fun together, hang out, basically all the usual stuff. After I had gotten home, I say my parents sitting in the living room and I instantly jumped on my mother's lap. She was startled, but that didn't stop from my father and I laughing our flanks off. My mother was not amused.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~One Month Later~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Today was my birthday, and I asked around if my brother was coming to the party, but my parents shook their heads in worry, as I now started to get worried also. Today was my birthday, and I was turning ten, but I hated that day, because I had gotten the worst news I could have ever gotten. My brother has gone missing.

"Sweetie please come out of your room...it will be all okay.."

NO! IT WONT BE OKAY!

"Sweetie maybe they were just wrong, I promise it will be okay..."

I just wanted to be alone, knowing that my brother is missing, and possibly dead, makes me cringe. I don't want to have that thought inside of my mind. I don't want to accept that he is truly gone, because I will never stop giving up....not like others have. I know that my brother is out there, trying his best to come back home, and trying to get to see me again, but for now, all I can do is hope for the best.
