Maretropolis! A huge city located off the coast of Equestria. The city is famous for five things: Solaris Tower, Lunar Island, The Daily Stable, Timer Square, and Element Park. Ponies from all over come here for the lights, the music, and all sorts of things. However, Maretropolis also has a problem that people tend to overlook when it doesn’t involve them: crime. Despite the popular attractions in Maretropolis, crime, villainy, and corruption is high and has been high for the past 120 years since Maretropolis was born and has continued to grow as Maretropolis grew over the years since it was born.
However, 50 years ago, a group six individuals raised up to fight against the crime and villainy in Maretropolis; they called themselves the Power Ponies. They are: Masked Matter-Horn, Mistress Mare-velous, Fili-Second, Saddle Ranger, Zapp, and Radiance. They took a stand against crime in Maretropolis and managed to bring down crime by 67%. As a result of their actions, Maretropolis managed to find peace and it caused Maretropolis to expand in such a short time and a new generation of heroes were born from their actions, especially after the Power Ponies retired; however, new forms of criminals were born from their actions.
In a white penthouse located on the mountains of Maretropolis, Rootwood Hills, an elderly pony is sitting on her reclining chair, drinking a glass of bourbon, and listening to music on a record player. The elderly pony’s name is Golden Lasso, but she was once the Power Pony known as Mistress Mare-velous. While she is listening to her music and drinking at the same time, she lets out a tear while looking at a picture of herself and the rest of the Power Ponies back in their younger years. She then said: Were we ever so young? Oh, how we look so happy. What Bullshit. After saying this, she grabbed another bottle on the
Outside at the front of the door, someone in a black cloak and hood with a strange marking on it waves their hand in front of the door and enters the house. Once inside, the hooded figure appeared before Golden Lasso.
“Mistress Mare-velous. Prepare to die.”
“This isn’t the first time that I’ve been told that sort of thing, but I guess this time it’s actually going to happen. Before you do it, I’d like to know who sent you to kill me. Was it The Mane-iac, Pharaoh Phetlock, Long Face, High Heel, Smudge, or Shadowmane? If it’s Shadowmane, I wouldn’t mind considering she’s my arch nemesis, but I’d prefer that she come and kill me herself.”
“I don't serve these outdated villains; I am a humble servant of The True Ruler of Maretropolis.”
“Oh, I get it now; so “that” pony wants me dead. Can’t say that I didn’t have it coming either way. Tell your Ruler that if it’s any consolation, I’m sorry.”
The hooded figure then placed his hand on Golden Lasso’s hand and it started to glow.
At the docks, a group of smuggler ponies are bringing in a shipment of goods from Saddle Arabia illegally. There are a total of 10 stallions; 4 stallions guarding the area, 3 stallions loading the shipment onto one of the three wagons, and 3 of the stronger stallions holding the wagons that will hold the shipment. What these stallions didn’t know is they are being watched by some pony in the distance. This pony is a mare with a purple latex bodysuit with some yellow on it, a red mask latex mask that covers her eyes, a red mane wig, a yellow star in the middle of her outfit, and a yellow utility belt. Before this mare could do anything, she grabs her walkie-talkie and presses a button on the side.
“This is Danger Star; I’m in position. Over.”
“How many goons? Over.”
“Ten. I can take them down with ease. Over.”
“Don’t do anything yet, Danger Star. We haven’t heard anything from Silver Crescent or the police yet. Over.”
“I know that Mach 10, but I can easily take on these guys and I’m ready to starting kicking ass; you know me. Over.”
“In more ways than one. Over.”
“This is Silver Crescent; save the pillow talk for later. Also, I’ve got what we need from them. You may proceed to taking them down. Over.”
Danger Star took this as a blessing and ran over toward the smugglers and kicks one of them in the face. The other smugglers then grabbed guns from their sides and began shooting at her. She managed to avoid the bullets with ease and got behind a wall inside of an open storage unit. The thieves began to run toward Danger Star and finish her off now that they have her cornered, but before they could do that their guns disappeared. Danger Star used this opportunity to grab out her staff from her utility belt and began hitting the rest of the thieves on the head, their stomachs, or even their testicles. After all the smugglers were knocked down, they were easily handcuffed and tied up with rope. The stallion who tied them up is wearing blue and orange football uniform with the number 10 on it, black running shoes, and an orange football helmet with a visor covering his eyes.
A few minutes later, the police arrived to pick up the smugglers and confiscate the illegal merchandise. Mach 10 and Danger Star are watching the smugglers get arrested from afar while Silver Crescent is talking with the police officer in charge; Silver Crescent is wearing an all silver outfit (with some green on certain areas on the outfit), such as a white hood with green on the back, a green crescent moon, and a white mask that covers his entire face with green eyes on the mask. After he finished his conversation with the pony in charge, he left the area to join Mach 10 and Danger Star.
“Looks like we managed to stop those smugglers from bringing in illegal magical necklaces that supposedly give you enhanced speed and strength and orbs that can supposedly summon ancient magical creatures. This is the fifth smuggling operation relating to artifacts from not only Saddle Arabia but also Somnambula, Rockville, and the ruins of the Crystal Empire. The extra evidence and files that I managed to get will help in ending this smuggling operation once and for all. I’m helping them come up with the planning with a bust operation for tomorrow, but I wanted to know if you guys wanted to help out.”
“Sorry, but it’s my day off starts tomorrow.”
“And Harshwhinny wants me to judge some potential recruits’ tomorrow; she thinks having me, Danger Star, as a judge bring out the ones who really want to be heroes and she wants me to see how well they fight since I’m the best one.”
“Alright. I’ll tell the detective that the two of you will be unavailable.”
“Are you going to help out?”
“Yes; the detective wants my help in the operation.”
“Aren’t you going to go home for tonight? You should rest.”
“I’m fine. See you guys later.”
“Night…. I mean Silver Crescent works too much; don’t you think?”
“Yeah; the stallion needs to learn to lighten up a bit. Well, see you later Danger Star.”
“After Mach 10 ran away, Danger Star left the area too.”
A few hours later, she sneaked into her apartment room without alerting anyone and changed out of her hero costume and into a purple nightgown; she is no longer Danger Star, but Twilight Velvet. Before going to bed, she fixed herself some hot cocoa. As she is sipping her hot coco, she looks at an old photo of herself and her friends when they were in High School: Night Light (Silver Crescent), Hondo Flanks (Mach 10), Stormy Flare, and Ethel Peachbottom. She thinks to herself how much has changed since they graduated High School and later became heroes for Maretropolis; it’s been two years since then. After she takes her last sip of hot cocoa, she goes to sleep.
The next morning, she turns on the radio and gets ready to go to “work”. However, as she is getting ready, a hears a news report saying that Golden Lasso, also known as Mistress Mare-velous, has been murdered.
Power Mansion II. The headquarters for all licensed heroes in Maretropolis. This mansion on top of a building serves as the base for all the heroes who have been licensed and certified to go out and be heroes and receive information on various crimes from police, government officials, and even civilians. The mansion itself is based on the original Power Ponies mansion in terms of design, but on the inside it is more advanced in terms of equipment and overall size of the mansion. The mansion is also connected to ten other floors of the forty story building that serve different purposes for the ponies that work there, regardless if they are heroes or not.
Miriam Harshwhinny. The young owner of Power Mansion II. Her family helped finance the Power Ponies secretly back when they were still active as superheroes with magical items, costumes, and intelligence for their battle against evil. While the family specialized in sports related business ventures, their assistance with the Power Ponies helped their company expand their business all over Equestria. Despite the business expanding, the Harshwhinny family has promised to help those who have been inspired by the Power Ponies and wish to follow in their legacy in protecting Maretropolis. Miriam, despite her other talents, has been tasked to oversee Power Mansion II and all of its heroes.
In her office, she is filling out paperwork while listening to the radio broadcast regarding Mistress Mare-velous’s murder. Just then, Twilight Velvet walks in with a concerned look on her face.
“Miriam…..”
“It’s Ms. Harshwhinny, Ms. Twilight Velvet.”
“Ms. Harshwhinny, is it true that Mistress Mare-velous was killed?”
“I’m afraid so. Police have investigated that she died by an unknown magic spell placed on her head which left her brain dead. We’ve already informed her family, her friends, and the rest of the Power Ponies; the funeral is going to be next week.”
“Ok. But have they found any leads on who killed her?”
“No. When they arrived at her penthouse, they didn’t find any sign of forced entry via magic or burglary equipment so the investigation is put on hold until the police can find an expert on high levels of magic since the magic experts in the police department are stumped by this.”
“Even so, I would like to help in the investigation, when this magic expert shows up.”
“Sorry Danger Star, but we’ve been asked not to get involved with this investigation.”
“Why not?”
“I’m afraid that I can’t tell you any more than that.”
“Seriously!?”
“Seriously. Now please head to the training room; the remaining new recruits are waiting for you.”
“Fine. Wait, I thought we were supposed to judge who we were going to pick who would get in first?”
“I’m afraid the news of Mistress Mare-velous’s death spread fast and as a result 98% of our potential recruits decided to cancel their auditions.”
With that said, Twilight Velvet left Harshwhinny’s office to meet the new recruits; but first, she went to the locker room to change into her (second) Danger Star outfit. As she is heading to the training room, she bumps into a fellow hero named Bow Hothoof; his hero name and title is Leviathan Slayer. He is wearing brown helmet with horns on it, a brown fur cape, a silver and blue metal chest plate, silver metal pants, and blue metal boots; also, he wields a long silver and blue battle axe with strange markings on it.
“Morning Velvet.”
“Morning Bow. Where are you heading?”
“To the training hall to meet the new recruits; Harwhinny’s orders. I was supposed to go out on patrol with Stormy Flare, but Harshwhinny is putting me on standby after an “accident” during one of my battles against some crooks.”
“You were showing off again, weren’t you?”
“No. Ok, maybe just a little bit but I can’t help that I’m amazing.”
“Sure you can; you just need to stop showing off and keep your ego in check.”
Danger Star and Leviathan Slayer arrived at the training room to meet the new recruits. Surprisingly, there were only two new recruits. They introduced themselves as Bright Macintosh and Burnt Oak.
Somewhere in Maretropolis, the hooded figure who killed Mistress Mare-velous is walking through the streets and heading to a bar called the Broken Hoof. Once inside, the bar patrons began to look at the figure suspiciously and some even question as to why he/she is here. But before any of them could do anything, a strange smoke appeared in the room, turned their eyes green, and put them in a trance like state. She told all the patrons to kill themselves, to which they all did.
A few minutes later, a group of ponies arrived to meet this hooded figure. These ponies are: Filthy Rich (The Owner of Rich Foods Inc.), Spoiled Milk (Teacher at Maretropolis Academy), Gladmane (Maretropolis Casino Owner and Loan Shark), Svengallop (Upstarting Music Producer), Wind Rider (An ex-Wonderbolt), Dr. Caballeron (A disgraced archeologist), and Jet Set and Upper Crust (Husband and Wife assassin team). The hooded figure then gave them all list and said this to them: You’re all here because my boss has interest in your skill sets and the influence that each of you have in your respective areas. With your help, we can take Maretropolis for ourselves and rule it with an iron fist. All my boss wants you to do is these things on the list. Further instructions will be given later down the line, but we do not speak of this meeting and if any of you try to back out or go to the police or any heroes then you will be dealt with swiftly.
Elsewhere, an old pony in a wheelchair is looking at some old photos of the Power Ponies (with Mistress Mare-velous’s photo X’d out). The old pony then says these names: Saddle Rager or Fili-Second.
