A Bet too Far
Chapter 5
Previous ChapterNext ChapterApplejack slept soundly for the rest of the night, feeling exceptionally safe and warm as she snuggled herself in her sleeper and suckled her pacifier as she slept.
Applejack began to stir the next morning. She yawned with a happy smile on her face as her eyes slowly fluttered open. She turned over slowly, but soon found herself plummeting to the floor, landing with a thud on the ground, and her head hitting the leg of the nightstand next to the bed.
Applejack was used to her bed at home, which was a bit larger than the twin bed in Rainbow Dash’s guest room. When Applejack turned over expecting the extra length of her bed at home, she instead found air and gravity.
Needless to say this ruined her morning wake up, and she groaned in pain. She moved to cover her head with her hand, but she wasn’t aware that her hand had gotten caught in the power cable for an alarm clock that rested on the night stand. When she moved her hand to cover her head, it sent the alarm clock crashing down onto her head.
Applejack yelled out in pain from the second blow to her head, thankfully Rainbow Dash was already awake and was already sprinting into the guest bedroom when she heard the crash from Applejack’s first fall.
“Oh my gosh are you ok,” Rainbow Dash said embracing the wincing Applejack in a hug.
“I’m fine,” Applejack said struggling to hold back tears.
“Alright, let’s sit you back up,” Rainbow Dash said helping Applejack back up on to the bed, moving Applejack into her lap facing her chest. Applejack instinctively pressed her aching head into Rainbow Dash’s chest trying to comfort the pain. Rainbow Dash enveloped Applejack into a hug and began rocking her back and forth, rubbing her back gently.
Applejack quickly dried up the few tears she had, and was just enjoying being hugged and snuggled by Rainbow Dash.
“I’m sorry sweetie,” Rainbow Dash stated sadly. “I should have put some guards on the bed so you wouldn’t fall out like that.” Applejack didn’t answer, but emerged from her shelter snuggled into Rainbow Dash, and looked up at her with a smile. She silently pointed to the ground where her pacifier had fallen and made grabby hands. Rainbow Dash gave a happy sigh and she grabbed the pacifier from the floor. Applejack eagerly followed the pacifier with her mouth open as Rainbow Dash quickly wiped it off and stuck it in Applejack’s open mouth. Applejack immediately began happily suckling. She was now facing the same direction as Rainbow Dash, but was still sitting in Rainbow Dash’s lap, in such a way the Rainbow Dash’s arms and legs enclosed on Applejack, holding her securely and snugly in place. Applejack happily wiggled in the cozy space created for her in Rainbow Dash's lap.
“We’ve got a whole day ahead of us,” Rainbow Dash said as she hugged Applejack. “What do you want to do?”
“I don’t know,” Applejack mumbled shyly.
“I thought we might go out for a picnic.”
“Noooo!” Applejack cried, burying her head back into Rainbow Dash. “People will see me,” she said this time muffled by not only her pacifier, but also by Rainbow Dash.
“I’ll give you some coveralls so your diaper won’t be too noticeable, and the park is just down the road, so if you don’t like it we can be back in ten seconds flat,” Rainbow Dash offered. Applejack whimpered in response. “You don’t have to go if you don’t want but I’d like it if you did.” Rainbow Dash said more seriously.
“Ok,” Applejack replied quickly.
“Thank you sweetie,” Rainbow Dash ruffling Applejack’s hair. “You want to get a shower while I pick out your clothes for you?” Applejack looked back confused, expecting Rainbow Dash to offer to bathe her. It wouldn’t be the weirdest thing, as the two had been on a few sports teams together, and thus had shared showers. Applejack didn’t feel like pressing the subject, as part of her was still of the mind that grown women don’t need help bathing. That part of her was surprisingly convincing.
Rainbow Dash began helping Applejack out of her sleeper. “You need to use your diaper before your bath?” Rainbow Dash asked seeing the unused diaper. Applejack blushed. She did, but she still hadn’t gotten used to wearing a diaper yet, and was holding it. Rainbow Dash smiled as Applejack scrunched her face up for a moment before she began to wet her diaper. “Good job!” Rainbow Dash applauded as she put Applejack’s sleeper in the laundry.
“All done,” Applejack exclaimed a bit more excitedly than she intended.
“Good girl,” Rainbow Dash said as she approached Applejack. “Let’s get you out of that so you can get all clean,” Rainbow Dash said as she unfastened the diaper off of the still standing Applejack. Rainbow Dash led Applejack to the bathroom. “Holler if you need anything,” Rainbow Dash said removing Applejack’s pacifier from her mouth.
Applejack was more confused as to why Rainbow Dash wasn’t helping. Especially since she was already standing naked at the entrance to the bathroom. She stood there for a moment as Rainbow Dash shuffled away quietly. Applejack had a thought that maybe Rainbow Dash wasn’t helping out of a misguided attempt to give Applejack privacy. It would be like Rainbow Dash to think that helping Applejack bathe herself was too much, but changing Applejack’s used diaper was ok. Applejack giggled slightly as she closed the door and began to shower.
Rainbow Dash in the meantime was digging through her closet hoping to find some items from when she would dress up as a little. Though they were buried deep in an attempt to prevent Rainbow Dash from reminding herself of what she didn’t have, she eventually dug up some of her old little clothes. Among them was her favorite set of shortalls. They were a pink and white checkerboard pattern, and had a frilly pink heart embroidered on the front on the chest. These would serve the purpose of looking cute, and effectively hiding Applejack’s diaper from any onlookers. Rainbow Dash also drug out a white onesie with a pattern of kittens on it for Applejack to wear under the shortalls. Rainbow Dash dug a little further until she found the main thing she was looking for, her chest harness. Rainbow Dash had a fascination with the child leashes some parents put their kids in. While the mesh of red nylon she had was designed for large dogs, not people, it would work for Applejack. The matching red lead was attached. Rainbow Dash giggled with excitement, hoping that Applejack wouldn’t mind the extra intrusion.
Rainbow Dash continued digging trying to find something for her to wear too. She didn’t want Applejack to stand out too much, so she thought if she wore something cute as well, it wouldn’t be as obvious. Rainbow Dash found another pair of shortalls. These were standard denim blue, and had a small embroidered duck on the front. It was less overtly babyish than Applejack’s outfit, but maybe it would be close enough that what few onlookers there were wouldn’t question things too much. Hopefully thinking the two were following a new trend or returning from some kind of event. Though if anyone that actually knew the two of them saw them wearing those outfits they would know immediately that something was up.
Rainbow Dash dressed herself in a white shirt and the shortalls she had picked out for herself, and busied herself packing a backpack with an extra diaper and changing supplies, while Applejack finished her shower.
Applejack soon emerged from Rainbow Dash’s bathroom, freshly cleaned and wrapped in a towel. She quietly peeked into Rainbow Dash’s room, and she was surprised by Rainbow Dash’s cutesy shortall outfit.
“Hey sweetie get all clean?” Rainbow Dash said leading Applejack to the changing table.
“Yeah,” Applejack said quietly. “What are you wearing?” she added with a giggle as she laid down to be put into a new diaper.
“Well I knew how nervous you were about people seeing you, so I thought if I dressed cute too no one would notice, or maybe they wouldn’t notice as much.”
“If you say so,” Applejack giggled. She was thankful that at least she wouldn’t be the only person out there looking ridiculous. Rainbow Dash taped Applejack’s new diaper snugly on and helped her up. She helped Applejack into her onesie, which was fairly easy since the onesie had snaps on the shoulder and the crotch. It was a little more difficult getting her into the shortalls, but Rainbow Dash managed.
“Ok last bit,” Rainbow Dash said holding up the harness, hoping that Applejack wouldn’t put up a fight. Applejack was initially confused as to what Rainbow Dash had, and didn’t realize what it was until Rainbow Dash had secured it shut behind her.
“Hey!” Applejack complained, as she tried in vain to get the harness off.
“Calm down,” Rainbow Dash said happily. “It’s just something to help me keep track of you,” Rainbow Dash said attaching the lead.
“But everyone is definitely going to see you walking me like a dog,” Applejack said angrily, coming out of her head space with her rising anger.
“Just give it a try,” Rainbow Dash said encouragingly. “I’ll let you wear your diaper back pack so it won’t be as obvious, and I won’t hold up the lead with others around.” Applejack still pouted negatively, but Rainbow Dash gave her best puppy dog face.
“Fine,” Applejack huffed. Rainbow Dash clapped happily. She grabbed the lead and walked Applejack to the front door of her house, Applejack stumbling a little as she was getting used the harness around her chest. It constantly pulled against her tightly. At times it felt annoying, but it also occasionally felt like a hug. Making Applejack fell weirdly attracted to it, and repelled by it at the same time.
“Ok I made us some pb&j sandwiches, and I got you a diaper change in here just in case,” Rainbow Dash said handing Applejack the backpack, which she quickly put on. Like Rainbow Dash said the backpack made it to where the harness on her just looked like extra straps from the backpack, save for the lead which stretched about three feet into Rainbow Dash’s hand. “Ready,” Rainbow Dash said quickly attaching a paci clip to Applejack’s shortalls. Applejack grumpily popped the pacifier in, still angry about the surprise harness.
Rainbow Dash and Applejack quickly made their way to the park. Given that it was a Sunday, and a pretty dreary Sunday at that, there wasn’t a lot of people out. Still the two didn’t want to take any chances of being seen so they made a brisk pace to the nearby park.
The walk there gave Applejack and Rainbow Dash both some time to get used to walking with the harness. Applejack had the most to get used to. She would get too far ahead of Rainbow Dash and be forced back, which would cause her to slow down and fall behind, that’s when Rainbow Dash would have to pull her forward. Eventually Applejack found a consistent walking speed, and Rainbow Dash helped her by keeping the lead taught when she though Applejack was an appropriate distance away, usually 6 inches in front of her. She would give a gentle tug when Applejack sped up too much, and Applejack learned to know by the slack in the lead that she was moving too slow.
Applejack found that, while the lead was taught, she actually enjoyed wearing the harness. It made her feel like she was constantly attached to Rainbow Dash, and that she was always being looked after and she felt safer. Rainbow Dash for her part felt a lot more confident that she could keep Applejack under control with the added restraint. She also enjoyed how cute it looked on Applejack.
It wasn’t long before the two made it to the small park, which was mostly vacant, save one or two determined joggers. Rainbow Dash picked a secluded part at the edge of the park near a wooded area for their picnic. Rainbow Dash twisted a small metal stake into the ground and tied Applejack’s lead to it. Applejack was a little mad that Rainbow Dash had tied her up like that, but she didn’t let it get to her. Rainbow Dash was busily setting up the picnic blanket for them, and she probably just didn’t want to be bothered. Applejack instead focused on the little area she had to play around in. Just like with walking, she felt safer. Only having a small area to worry about meant she felt completely safe and in control of the space. She ran around the small space, taking time to investigate weird pieces of grass or bugs that she found oddly fascinating.
“Alright sweetie,” Rainbow Dash said freeing Applejack from the stake. “How about some sandwiches.” Applejack sat down next to Rainbow Dash as Dash quickly tied a bib around her before handing her half of a sandwich. Applejack immediately bit into with a smile, as a bit of jelly got stuck on her cheek. Rainbow Dash smiled back as she wiped the condiment off. Applejack snuggled closer to Rainbow Dash as the two continued eating.
Though it was a nice time, the weather was getting to them, and Applejack was getting antsy once she finished her food. Rainbow Dash decided to feed Applejack a bottle and then head home.
Applejack put up a little fight when Rainbow Dash fed her the bottle, though Rainbow Dash knew this was just because she was tired. Given this, she quickly packed up and walked the girl home. The change of scenery brightened Applejack's mood slightly, but Rainbow Dash knew that as soon as she got home the girl needed a nap. And so when they arrived Rainbow Dash was quick to remove Applejack from her harness and shortalls so she could be comfortable in just her onesie. Applejack fussed slightly as the shortalls were removed, but Rainbow Dash got the girl out of her shortalls and led her gently to the playpen.
“Why don’t you lay down in your play pen sweetie,” Rainbow Dash encouraged gently. Applejack was too tired to protest, and she grumpily laid down in the play pen and began coloring. Rainbow Dash watched as Applejack slowly fell asleep as she packed away some of the things from their excursion.
Applejack was more tired than Rainbow Dash had initially thought, even after she was finished packing some things away and doing some light cleaning, Applejack was still in a deep sleep, a crayon still in her hand from when she was coloring. Rainbow Dash smiled and gently placed a blanket over Applejack, and coaxed her pacifier into her mouth.
Applejack slept for several hours, before waking up groggily. Rainbow Dash was eagerly waiting for her.
“Wakey wakey sleepyhead,” Rainbow Dash cooed. Applejack moaned tiredly. “You were pretty grumpy, so I thought you could use a little nap. You were sleeping like a log.” Applejack smiled behind her pacifier.
“It was a good nap,” Applejack said attempting to be cute. “Bottle?” Applejack asked. Rainbow Dash knowingly revealed the bottle of milk she had made, and released from the play pen and Applejack followed her to the couch. “Sorry I was grumpy,” Applejack apologized meekly as she settled her head into Rainbow Dash’s lap.
“It’s ok,” Rainbow Dash said quietly. “We had a long day I was pretty tired too.” Rainbow Dash didn’t let Applejack apologize further as her voice was silenced by the nipple of the bottle. Applejack greedily drank from the bottle since she was still thirsty from her nap. Applejack surprised herself when halfway through the bottle, she wet her diaper almost without thinking about it.
“Thanks for doing this for me again,” Rainbow Dash said seriously as Applejack finished her bottle. “It means a lot.” Applejack pondered what the sudden change in tone from Rainbow Dash was about, when she realized that her mandatory 24 hours as a baby were coming to a close. “You should go ahead and change back.” Applejack wanted desperately to say no. She was enjoying this time with Rainbow Dash. She didn’t want it to end. But there was a bigger part of her that wouldn’t accept the whole situation. She couldn’t accept that she liked being little, and so failed to voice her enthusiasm toward Rainbow Dash.
“I’m glad you had fun,” was the best Applejack could do to express how she felt.
Rainbow Dash left Applejack alone to change herself back into her normal clothes, and to be alone with her thoughts. While Applejack was somewhat happy to be getting back to normal, she felt strongly that her time with Rainbow Dash had been cut short. At the same time Applejack was beating herself up for enjoying being little. It was weird and wrong. How could she like it? What was wrong with her?
“Everything ok in there?” Rainbow Dash called from the hallway.
“Yeah I’m good,” Applejack said, pushing the thoughts to the side and quickly getting dressed. Rainbow Dash’s concern was washed away when she saw a seemingly fine Applejack.
“All set?”
“Yeah, guess I’m about to head out. And uh this stays just between us.”
“Yeah just between us,” Rainbow Dash said seriously. “And this doesn’t have to change anything between us if you don’t want it too.”
“Yeah I’d like it if we could just forget this happened,” Applejack felt a sense of dread as she turned down any attempts to continue the fun so thoroughly.
“No problem,” Rainbow Dash said happily. “I think I got a lot of it out of my system anyways.” Rainbow Dash and Applejack had been slowly moving toward rainbow Dash’s front door as they were talking, and it had reached the point where Applejack was out the door and it became time to say final goodbyes. Applejack found herself at a loss for what to say, but no such feeling was in Rainbow Dash. “See you at school,” Rainbow Dash said in oblivious happiness as she shut the door on Applejack. Applejack slowly made her way back home, her mind full of self-doubt and conflicting emotions.
Author's Note
Another chapter for you guys. This was mostly just some cutsey fun with AJ and Dash. It does give Applejack something to miss by the end of it though, so it wasn't complete fluff. I'll explore that more in the coming chapter so stay tuned for that. As always hope you guys enjoy.
