File 1 Ch 4: The Chase Part 1

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Cheryl Blossom, also known as Cheerilee to her family and close friends. She has a twin sister named Cherie "Cherry" Blossom, who was the first to be born from them and has been titled by everyone as the older sister. Both of them were currently fifteen years old and their birthday was in the Spring season, which makes their nicknames more befitting.

She is vice president and valedictorian of her school's student council and main player in her community softball team. She volunteers to any community service that would come up in her neighborhood and she exclusively babysits her neighbor's little daughter.

She might appear to have a life of a regular yet highly skilled adolescent girl from the suburbs of Manehattan but within the layers of normalcy, there was a core of secrecy that she and her sister possess that they can't reveal to the world...

Even if their lives or those they have close relations with were on the line.

The twins were both Junior Level Agents of the Equis Greatest Protection Agency. She and her sister have entered the hidden world of the Agency when they were only ten years old at the time.

The Drops' couple were the ones who discovered them. The twins were adopted by these Agency's personnel as a form of Foster Care Programme that the couple has devised. The twins were also given their own homes to live in beside the couple.

The Blossom Twins owe their lives and consider the couple their second family. They devote their lives to exceeding everything they possess in mind, body, and spirit. They honed their bodies into peak physical form. Studied most of the information that the world they live in has contained. Trained and mastered ten forms of hand to hand combat and continuing to study more. Disciplined their soul through meditation and other forms of mind fortitude methods.

Unfortunately, these experiences and personal capabilities would be put her into a difficult trial; she was currently inside a white van with a man named Joe. Some might think this sentence would raise many red flags... and they are half-right. The girl is in danger but the man is as well. They were being bombarded with bullets and other assortments of weaponized projectiles, which were very distracting to the driver's navigation... and also was dangerous to his and his passengers' lives.

Nonetheless, Joe, Cheerilee and especially Sara must possess the greatest of luck if they are ever going to escape and survive the relentless assault from Chrysalis and her underlings of Changeling Solutions.

To obtain this marvelous trait, the world they lived in must ask them one important question that must be honestly responded and came from their mind, body, and soul. That question that will determine their survival, which is...

Are you ready?

Summer - July 15, 2006 (Saturday) - 4:12 p.m - Heavy Rain and Bullets

POV: The World (Earth) Age: Unspecified

Location: Manehattan, Unspecified Location, Joe's Commandered Van

Gunfire...

The skies continue to shower its torrent of chilling water droplets upon the entire areas of Manehattan, including the slightly vacant roads.

It would have been a somewhat pleasant start of the day if it wasn’t the booming sounds of fired artilleries that a group of savage people was bombarding on a certain speeding vehicle that they were hunting.

The loud thunderous sounds of loud gunfire on the streets of Manehattan before the crack of dawn. Unsuspected bystanders moving their vehicles aside from the roads as one breakneck white van speeds through them while being assaulted by other vans. The windows, streetlamps, mailboxes and other inanimate objects were also caught in the hail of gunfire and innocent vehicle

Inside the pursued white van, Joe was on the driver's seat, who was maneuvering past the slow passing vehicles with great speed that would have broken the regulated speed limit of the roads, which should've also alerted the local authorities that were on the scene

Cheerilee was at the back of the vehicle; she was scavenging around the inside compartments of her crimson red duffle bag for something important.

"What are you doing exactly, Miss Blossom," Joe asked.

"I'm looking for my stupid cellular phone." She frustratingly responded, gritting her teeth as the turbulence of the van crashing into other obstacles made her search much more difficult.

"I thought you kids call it 'cellphones'. Joe corrected the girl then sighed. "Haaa... I can't believe I just said that." I'm still in my early twenties yet I already sound like an old man.

"Aha!" She exclaimed, happy to finally found her phone but that emotion was short lived as now she was struggling with pressing the buttons of her pink bulky rectangular-shaped phone.

"UGHHH!!! I hate these cellular phones." She screamed, infuriated that the innovative piece of communication technology was being unreliable in their time of need. "Okay, here we go. Nine... one... one... nine..."

Before she could enter the fifth number, the van suddenly took a sharp turn to the right and another one. It caused the passengers' bodies to flail around like ragdolls by the intense gravity. Joe and Sara were fortunate enough to have their seatbelts on and only felt a tug up from their seat.

"Fuck!" Joe yelled as he let go of the steering wheel for only a second before getting back and grasping the wheel tighter.

Unfortunately, that one second caused the van to swerve slightly to the left and crashing into some parked vehicles. The collision and the van not losing momentum scratched the vehicles' exterior and destroying every blind spot mirror.

He let out a relieved sigh as he regained control of the van and saw that the little girl in the front passenger seat was still unconscious, not experiencing the stressful moments of the drive.

"Phew! That was a close one." Joe said. He looked over his right shoulder to inspect his other passenger's condition. "Are you okay back there, Miss Blos-" He couldn't finish call out her name as he saw that the girl was lying down on the floor with her duffle bag on top.

Unfortunately for Cheryl, she didn't have a seatbelt and was standing inside the vehicle with only her right hand on Sara's seat. Her backside slammed to the left side of the van's interior metal walls... twice. Her duffle bag took most of the impact but the contents of the bag were heavy and bulky that it hit her back thrice; two from the body slams on the wall and the other was when she landed on the floor.

She could feel the sharp edges of the items piercing her back, her only protection from the hits was the thick layer of her hoodie which wasn't much. She received enough excruciating pain in her back that she temporarily couldn't breathe and knocked her out.

"Miss Blossom! Cheryl, are you okay!?" He asked, worried about his partner's current state. He could hear her pained moans and mutter something under her breath but no proper response. "Damn it!"

With his only partner temporarily out of commission, Joe has decided to find a secluded area to stop and inspect his passengers' condition. Due to his side's blind spot mirror destroyed, he had to slow down the van a bit and poked his head out of the door's window. He saw that their pursuers were nowhere in sight, meaning his maneuver worked.

There was a reason why their van took two sharp right turns. Due to the insane speed that their vehicle and their pursuers were advancing, Joe used that fact as an advantage and took a gamble when he saw an alleyway that was spacious enough for the van to pass through.

It would seem that luck was on the agent's side as he saw another alleyway, next two a local grocery store and a vacant building. The location seemed safe for their van to park in and conceal their presence, for a couple of minutes at best, from their bloodthirsty pursuers and their vicious leader.

Joe slowly reversed the van into the alleyway and parked it next to two identical ones, excluding their pursuers' logo. He turned off the headlights but kept the van's engine running in case they are spotted and need a quick getaway.

He placed her hands on top of his head and began to mess around with his hair by scratching really hard with his fingernails. The agent has been in numerous stressful operations over the years and handled every assignment with ease but the situation they are in right now was entirely different for he wasn't the main target of the malice and life-threatening danger.

He took a few long breaths to calm down his shaken nerves and adrenaline-filled body. He first looked at the passenger beside him, which made his heart sting in pain that hurt more than any injury he has sustained over the years.

Sara Drops, however, her parents kept insisting that everyone should call her Sweetie, will be completely disheartened and innocence shattered once she woke up to find that she and her parents will be hunted down for the rest of their lives by one of the most powerful and dangerous individuals in the entire world who was also once a very close friend of her parents.

"Damn it!"He frustratedly yelled while he slammed the van's radio with his right fist and suddenly...

Music started to play.

"Well, that's annoying."

He tried to turn off the noise but it would seem his abuse on the machine has damaged the buttons and disc eject function.

He rubbed his eyes and got out of his seat. He approached towards his knocked out partner, removed her duffle bag and grabbed the first aid. He smiled to see that Cheryl outfitted the first aid kit with every tool and medicine that would assist them in almost any dangerous situation. He took extra strength smelling salts, snapped the small tube and placed it near the girl's nostrils.

With one quick inhale, the girl jolted up and gasped for air. She touched the left side middle part of her torso and cried in pain.

"My ribs... ACK!" She groaned, tears flowing out as she tries to endure the pain and regained her composure by straightening her back. However, she also felt another stinging of pain on her spine. "AHHH! My back!"

"Shit," Joe anxiously said as there is already a casualty before they even encountered the enemy and begin a fight of their lives. "Miss Blossom, please remove your hoodie and lie down now."

The girl obeyed his order without hesitation. When she took off her hoodie, it is revealed that she was wearing a plain white tank top and a black sports bra was clearly seen as well. She used the removed clothing as a blanket against the van's cold and dirty metal surface.

The young man began putting on clean medical gloves and set up the medical supplies near the girl; a syringe, a bottle of military permitted morphine, a roll of bandages, disinfecting alcohol, and if the injury is serious and needs internal examining, a scalpel. With years of knowledge on advance military first aid on his side, he felt like he has a high possibility of successfully take care of his partner's injury. Although he hasn't used that information for some time and the trio was currently in a stressful sticky situation, Joe was a little rusty and just has hope for the best that he did the right procedures and not accidentally kill the girl.

"Miss Blossom, I need you to designate me where your injuries are exactly." He calmly informed his patient.

Cheryl pointed at the bottom of her left breast. The man carefully lifted the girl's shirt until it reaches below the sports bra and poked the spot where the injury is said to take place.

"AHHH!" The girl yelped in pain once again. She felt like multiple small knives were stabbing inside her chest.

"This isn't good. It appears some of the bones on the lower part of your ribs are either broken or dislocated. " He said with an anxious expression. "But I have to accurately determine which condition it is. And that means... I'm sorry to do this, Miss Blossom but I'm going to have to do a closer physical scan at that injury. You know what that means, right?"

Cheryl looked at her partner with a reassuring yet tired look on her face. "O-okay, I understand." She weakly groaned. "Do what you have to do then, Mister Joe."

The man grabbed a pencil from the duffle bag and placed it in between the girl's mouth. "You know the drill." He informed. "Bite hard on the pencil until the examination is done."

She gritted her teeth with the pencil and more tears came out as she prepares herself for the most painful experience.

"I wish I could give you the morphine or at least a sedative right now." He stated, paranoia growing by the second. "But I can't take risks on your body if you have internal bleeding and accidentally cause shock. That might lead you into a coma or worse..."

The girl spat the pencil to the floor. "JUST FIX MY FUCKING RIBS ALREADY!" She shouted in anger.

"Okay, okay." The man grabbed another pencil from the bag and placed it at the girl's mouth again.

Cheryl took a few deep breaths and calmed herself down. "I'm so... AHHHHH!" She was about to apologize to the man for her outburst but she screamed in agony as Joe press down his fingers on her injury. She bit down on the pencil as hard as her teeth while the man examined.

"Yup. Your ribs are dislocated and bruised as hell." He informed.

"Tell me first before you do that." She yelled.

He ignored the girl's complaint as he was busy pondering a plan on what to do next. He sighed and look at his patient. "Which means you can have the painkiller meds and rest a bit while I sneakily get us to headquarters."

"Please do." She said, relieved that at least she'll be a little numb from the pain.

"Although..." He sheepishly mumbled.

"What?" The girl asked, feeling worried.

"You understand we're in a difficult situation with Christine and her gun crazy goons, right?"

"Y-yeah." Her anxiety levels were rising slowly as she realized where this is going.

"And you know we're in this mess because Sara needs our help right now."

"We don't have time to rest, do we?" She said bluntly.

"Yeah..." He said. "And I need you to drive the van. I have to perform a last minute surgery to put back that rib of yours into place so you don't get distracted by the pain." He grabbed the scalpel and was about perform the surgery.

"Are you ready?" He asked.

Cheryl took one deep breath and shouted...

"I'M READY"
