Your Human and You: Adventures of the Griffon Girl
Embarrassment
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI had locked myself away from the rest of the palace for a few hours now, and the reaction everyone had was to just wait it out. I curled up, not speaking as I had tears in my eyes. I had humiliated myself. For what? An infatuation? I found my situation easily laughable when it came down to the facts. This could never be considered true. I was positive. There was a quiet knock on my door after everything had gone quiet.
"Hey... Are you alright?" Of all the ponies or griffons I had expected, it was Snow Quill. I looked at the door and froze up a little, shaking. There was the sense of intense fear. Why would Snow Quill want to talk to me? Especially about this!
"I'm opening the door." I became alarmed when I looked at the door, feeling my heart rate increase when Sky Scroll spoke, and the door opened. The light flooded the room and I gave a quiet and pathetic whimper of discomfort. I had been crying. I sat up as the room was lit by the lights above, having been lit by magic flames in a chandelier.
"Sky you can't just-!" She was cut off by her own yelp, the door closing with a relatively loud slam. I looked shocked as Sky Scroll trotted over to me, levitating me up and setting me in the nearest chair, rather aggressively.
"I can, and I did." She looked at me like I was some type of monster. Like I was an animal. "Alright you listen here. You might be able to talk, but your reaction to this situation is no different from any other human I have ever seen. When a youth is discovered expressing interest, and if caught, they hide. You have to rise above your urges to remain hidden, and go out there and face it. You will not get ANYWHERE with this, if you don't tell them how you feel. You'll drive yourself crazy."
"Sky Scroll!!" Snow smacked the mare on the back of her head, making her grunt. She puffed out. "You have to comfort not insult in this situation! Human behaviors are more complicated than everything we've seen!"
Sky scrunched her muzzle and looked away, brooding silently as we stared at each other. She laid her ears back and sat down on the ground, looking away. I felt a little bad for her. I still had little to no idea what was happening, but I still felt bad.
"You're alright. Right? Nothing's hurt?" She seemed worried that I had hurt myself when I landed in the chair. She sighed in relief when she did a magic scan over my body. I shivered and blinked. "Listen ok? Sky is... Sad to say... Correct. You can't just hide in here when the situation gets unpleasant. You'll live past this moment, you will. But for now, it's better to face it instead of ignoring it and letting the feeling fester. You have to talk it out!"
I made note of their opposites. They were completely different, yet trying to complete the same objective. One was more tough, cold, and blunt. And the other? The other was easy going, soft, warm, affectionate and compassionate. More empathetic. I much preferred the latter of the two.
"Look, if you were a human with my experiences... You'd understand. You'd understand my choices, my actions. But you aren't... But I do want to thank you for trying to make me feel better. Sometimes humans have nervous breakdowns. they need to be left alone for a while until they can sort themselves out. Then they'll be a lot better. Sometimes, they need comfort, and other times they need space. It's just like ponies." I smiled at her and stood up. In no way did I like them, or want to get along with them, but I was grateful at their attempts to comfort me. It took a few minutes of shocked silence from my words, but they eventually recovered and nodded softly to each other. I smiled at her and I stood up.
"Where are you going?" I looked at Sky Scroll and smiled.
"I'm going out to take a walk. And... probably be mauled by a few worried griffons, and two unicorns." They looked at me, and Sky looked perplexed. Snow was smiling as she looked at me, enjoying my humor. I smiled and waved to her, walking out the door.
I walked down the hall for a few minutes, lost in thought while I wondered and thought. I eventually dragged myself back from the depths of thought, and opened the door to the room I was dreading entering. It was dimmed, and it was filled with the sound of sleeping. Everyone must have been sitting in here. Rue was curled up with Slasher covering her with a wing, mumbling quietly to each other. Medallion was with Wench, and Claw was with Talon, cuddled up like they never had any issues. They were sleeping. Xander was hugging Fylakas's side, asleep with Vinney next to him. I watched them with a look of slight fear. When I closed the door, making a small thud sound, they all looked at me. I froze up and felt my throat close up, and my face heat up.
Fylakas stood up and walked forwards. He had tears in his eyes, and I clenched my fists. I walked up to him, keeping my gaze off of him, and on the floor. When he and I reached each other in the middle of the room, he hugged me. I was so glad he wasn't to upset with me.
"I'm sorry..." I whispered to him so he would hear it, but no one else could. He shook his head and hugged me tighter. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment between us. He brought me over to the bed everyone was curled up on. It was massive, and hard to get onto. he climbed on and dragged me across the bed, making me laugh a little in shock. My smile grew when he looked over at Slasher. He held me there, in silence until everyone else was asleep. I was silent for a large portion of this time, while I was listening to them all talk. Then to hear it slowly fade, and then to hear nothing? It was a truly strange phenomenon. I smiled and listened to everyone's steady breathing. I started to doze off, myself, and enjoy the feeling of sleep. But I kept myself awake for a while as I got a little cold. I blew my hair from my face as I leaned against Fylakas. He pulled something warm over us in the dark. it had feathers. I assumed it was someone's wing.
"It's ok."
