Your Human and You: Adventures of the Griffon Girl
Talking
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI paced nervously as I walked back and forth. I looked off and to the side as I paced in front of Wench, biting my lip as I stared at the floor. I stopped for a moment, but then continued, as if I was a humming bird with no idea whether I was OK to fly or rest. I walked back with a look of fear. It wasn't exactly fear that I was feeling, but it was anxiety.
"Um... Baladia, is... Is something wrong?" I flinched at the sound of Wench's voice, glancing at her as I bit my lip and continued to pace. It was kind of late at night, and it was hard to really understand what was happening. My thoughts were always so focused on the park, and that single moment of closeness between me and Fylakas. I wanted him to tell me he had forgotten, say something, but so far, the only thing he's done is avoid me. This made sadness swell up in my chest when I thought, but I couldn't really do anything could I? I finally stopped and looked at her, feeling exhausted as I sat down on the ground and held my head in my hands groaning.
"No, Wench. I'm a complete mess. I'm a total jumble of emotion." She looked at me like I had just splashed her with acid, horrified and worried. I looked up at her and showed nothing but complete embarrassed dishevelment. She trotted up and I let out a small groan.
"M... Maybe you should talk to me?" I looked at her, feeling a sense of trust, but also embarrassment fill my chest. I looked at her and bit my lip. I looked at myself and sighed.
"I... I don't think I'm comfortable with that. Maybe I'll talk to Rue... She might know how to handle it. if not, then I'll come back here, to you, OK?" She looked a little disappointed, but nodded in acceptance. I smiled and stroked her fluff, smiling as I looked at her. I stood up and stretched a little, turning away. She nudged my back and I glanced at her.
"Do't be afraid to talk to me alright? I'm here for you." She smiled as I smiled back, and she nudged me out the door. She turned back and started to play with Xander, and I watched her with a smile as I turned away.
I started creeping down the hall and peeking around corners, watching out for any sign of Fylakas. There was none, but a suspicious glimmer of a sound proofing spell over a door. I crept closer to the door and carefully pressed my ear against the wall in the darkened library next door, the one that neither Rue or Slasher used. I listened as closely as I could, hearing Fylakas's voice through the wall quite clearly. it was a rather thin wall, considering it was stone. I suppose that was for the best in this scenario.
"-nd with the thing that happened back at the park, how could I not react the way I did?! I'm so conflicted! I... It's so weird! She makes me feel weird inside, weirder than anything I've ever experienced in this crazy place! Like... Seriously! I'm concerned I'm turning into some sort of... I don't know! It's just like back on the stage, everything melted away!" I felt a vibration against the wall, like someone was punching it. "What should I do?!"
I furrowed my eyebrow. the only one who should be in that room with him should be a unicorn, like Rue or Medallion.
"Maybe you should just tell her how you feel." I froze at the sound of the familiar sound. I gave a small gasp as I listened, with my mind going a little blank. It was Snow Quill! This can't be right!
"It's not that simple Snow... Well it might be, but I just- I can't yet!" I felt mad that he was talking to her, maybe even feeling a little... A little tiny bit... Possessive? I don't like feeling like that, but it's not like I had a choice!
"Well... Maybe you can tell her in a little while?" I felt my heart freeze. It was Sky Scroll this time! I can't believe this! They were both in there with him alone! I pulled my head away from the wall, scoffing as I stared at the wall. I listened back in, looking a bit angry.
"It's obvious she likes you, according to what you say. And, you like her, according to the symptoms you're describing." I felt my heart stop when Sky Scroll spoke, making my face twist into a mixed look of exasperation and confusion. Symptoms?! Is that how they're describing the emotion of infatuation? I scoffed and took a breath. He was more scared than I was for the situation. I stood up straight and decided to start hyping myself up for my decision. I was going to tell him tomorrow night.
It was a few days before our meeting with Twilight and her human, so I decided not to be to worried. I struggled not to, but I cracked a smile of excitement. I was waiting in the doorway in front of the room the three were talking in the night before. I had it closed, and I was backed up enough so I could miss the door when it opened. it was getting hard to keep my excited spirits high, the more time that passed. I felt anxiety take its hold as I waited. I heard footsteps outside the door, making me freeze up in a cold sweat when I stared at the door. It opened, and in he walked, the boy i had been waiting for. I felt all of my confidence fall away when he opened the door and locked eyes with me, him freezing up in the same anxiety freeze. It was time had slowed to an absolute crawl. I swallowed my fear and looked at him, taking a breath.
"I-I need to talk to you. Please?" I shook as I looked at him, feeling my heart swell as his face flushed and he closed the door. I swear I heard a gasp from outside the door before it closed. I took a breath and looked at him.
"A... About wh-what?" I felt my face flushed with his boldness, able to speak while seeing me in a cold sweat.
"I-I um... W.. Well... I um.. Come on Baladia, just say it!" I was giving myself a quick pep talk as he stood there, watching my pathetic attempts at speech. Or stringing together a sentence. "I've been trying to..."
"You... You OK, Bala?" He looked concerned as he stepped forwards, holding out a hand and setting it on my shoulder, making me tense up. I gained a burst of fire and energy, the kind I had never gotten before. The kind that said"Your life depends on this very moment".
"Fylakas, ever since the day we found Xander at the fall adoption festival, I've realized I've had feelings for you that cut to deep for me to keep hidden for much longer!" I kept my eyes closed so I couldn't see his face. The cold sweat had turned from cold to anxiety sweat. I covered my face as I looked at the darkness behind my eyelids. "I just... It's impossible. Fylakas, I like you, and I can't hide this anymore. You understand? I can't hide my feelings any longer."
I felt his grip tighten as he looked at me, making me peek from behind my hands. He was tearing up.
"Why are you crying?" I felt a feeling of anxiety creep into my chest.
"Because I feel the same way." He hugged me and I gave an intense, happy sob as I hugged back. I heard the door creak, and I froze, and he tensed up too. He and I slowly, looked over his shoulders back at the door.
In the doorway was all the griffons and pony I did NOT wanting knowing about this... Rue, Slasher, and Claw.
"oh my sTARS!!!" I was about to scream as Rue had stars in her eyes, and Slasher was smiling from ear to ear. Claw was staring at me and Fylakas with a fiery inspired look as I backed away. I hated that look on her because she always made me stay still for hours on end to tailor an outfit for me when she got inspired.
But what really made me scream?
Snow Quill and Sky Scroll were standing in the side of the doorway, smiling at Fylakas.
