Previous ChapterNext Chapter- One Week Later -
I awake with a gasp. The first thing I realize upon awaking is that I don't remember anything that has happened within the past week.
Only fragments of what was remains. None of them clear enough to comprehend.
I sat up and just sat on the bed for what seemed hours. I was trying to make sense of just what was happening. I remembered absolutely nothing of what happened during the past week, and it scared me.
I notice something move in my peripheral vision and snap my head to where the movement was. Nothing.
I twitched my ears when I heard a clacking sound behind the door. I looked at the door with fear when it finally opened and a brief image of some grotesque creature that seemed to defy all logic appeared and I suddenly jumped with my heart pounding in my chest.
I hear distant voices which should've been impossible, since I live alone. A few moments happened and a loud knock that seemed to echo around my head and I jumped and covered my ears. I quickly laid down in my bed and went into the fetal position and dug my hooves even deeper into my head until my head hurt.
For what seemed a long time the knocks kept going until they suddenly stopped. I was roused out of my position by a rough tapping on my side. I flinched and slowly looked up.
Two Royal Guards were in my room, and they seemed angry at me.
The Guard closest to me asked me this.
"Sir, Do you mind telling us why you have a coffin and a corpse in your house?"
I stared at him for the longest time before shaking my head and muttering.
" No, no, no, no I can't have, I CAN'T have"
I continued this rambling for a few more minutes before I was interrupted by the Guard.
"Sir, did you or did you not have anything to do with the corpse in your living room"
I shook my head.
"No, yes, no, yes, I don't remember"
I looked up at him.
"No sir, but I might've have something to do with since I can't remember anything from the past we-"
I pause.
It was 5 minutes before the Guard spoke.
"Sir?"
I screamed and tried to dash under my covers while screaming out, " NO, they can't get me, they mustn't get me".
The Guards surged forward and tried to apprehend me, but I was struggling too much.
I struggled until I felt a sharp pain on my head and everything went black.
There were swirling colors of dark blue and black all whirling around me in a void. There was a very blurry crescent in the distance, but I couldn't make it out clearly before I suddenly dropped into what felt like an ocean but looked like I was in space.
A sea of stars stretched out all around, above, and below me. I floated there, trying to comprehend what was happening before a mass of incomprehensible voices started whispering around me.
I tried to cover my ears and block out the sound, as it seemed to pierce my head. But I couldn't move.
I started mumbling before a skull formed out of the stars along with what seemed to be balls of mist surrounding it before it lunged at me and I woke up screaming.
I woke up in an elaborate bedroom, decorated in shades of dark blue when I realized I was on the floor. I stood up and looked around.
There was a king sized bed that seemed to take up the majority of the room. There was a mare sleeping soundly on it.
I walked closer and examined the mare. She had a dark blue coat with a mane of stars that seemed to float. I noticed she had both wings and a horn.
The discovery led to my head straining to remember who she was. I knew who she was but just couldn't remember. Before long, those damned whispers started up around me. I tried to cover my ears bit they wouldn't stop.
I looked over to the mare and suddenly, the whispers stopped. I noticed that she was beautiful and graceful. So peaceful.
I walked closer to her and stroked her mane. I heard her light breathing and realized how at peace I felt.
I looked out the window, but couldn't see anything. There was just black. I saw traces of something moving in the darkness but couldn't see anything.
I felt an immense pain around my body and I jerked over and landed on the sleeping mare. The pain stopped.
I slowly got up before another wave of pain hit me and I stumbled over again. When I touched the sleeping mare, the pain stopped suddenly.
I wondered why this was. I tried to remember who she was again, before my vision started to distort and warp and I was once again in a sea of stars.
I started panicking when that same pain wracked my body. I floated there in the sea of stars for what seemed eons as a constant pain throbbed in me.
Suddenly the mare from before slowly warped into view in front of me. Hugging me. I looked into her cyan-blue eyes and the pain stopped. I felt peace in that moment before she vanished and the pain came back.
I started calling for her to come back before I realized that I still didn't know who she was.
I was panicking and thrashing around with that damned pain ebbing through me. Then those whispers started up again and I was truly in misery.
I was engulfed in blackness and a small, dingy room came into view. The room stank of a metallic smell. I noticed a table in the middle.
I stared at what was on the table. The broken body of a mare with a dark blue coat and a starry mane laid before me. Her eyes were open in fear and her throat was slit. Blood still pouring out but not excessively. She had her body cut open and the organs were visible. There were also tear tracks from what I could see. I looked over her until I caught eye of her cutie mark. A crescent moon over a splotch of black.
I stare at it when the room faded out and the crescent appered over me. It loomed over me.
I felt a sense of longing, a need to see the broken body or the peacefully sleeping mare.
I just floated there, staring at the looming moon when a static noise started up and darkness started to enshroud my vision.
I woke up.
