A Discussion With Celestia

After falling unconscious after studying an ancient fertility spell, Starlight Glimmer finally came to the following day. When she woke up, she seemed very tired and a bit disoriented. When she came to, the first one to check on her was Twilight. Twilight grabbed her, pulled her close and asked, "Starlight, are you ok?"

Starlight yawned, "I think so."

Celestia was glad that Starlight had woke up but she figured that this would be just as good of a time as any to get answers about everything that had happened. She approached Starlight and asked, "Starlight, from what I understand you fell into a trance while you were studying an ancient spell."

Starlight had a feeling that Celestia was not exactly thrilled over this but figured that nothing too terribly bad would happen. She replied, "Yes, I was studying a fertility spell so that Twilight and I could have a foal."

Hearing it directly from Starlight made Celestia know that Twilight was being 100% serious. Celestia was displeased but not angry. She gave her a curious look and asked, "May I ask why you two want a foal?"

Starlight went to say something but would be interrupted by Twilight, "Princess Celestia, Starlight and I truly love one another and we want to cement that love by bringing a new life into this world together and studying a fertility spell was the only way we could do that."

Celestia gave Starlight a curious yet intense look as though she were expecting something from her. Starlight added, "Your Majesty, everything that Twilight said is true. We do love one another and we want to have a foal."

Celestia knew about their past and knew that they had not known each other for as long as they should have, especially to be talking about bringing a foal into this world. She also knew that there was no way that they could have been together long enough to make this decision rationally. She asked, "Twilight, Starlight, I want to know something, how long have you been a couple?"

Twilight replied, "Well as of today it is 91 days."

Celestia asked, "Alright, you two have been a couple for just over three months and you already want a foal? You already want to bring a life into this world?"

In unison the two replied, "Yes princess."

Celestia asked, "Do you two truly even know one another well enough to make that commitment? Do you truly know one another well enough for your love to be strong enough to last?"

Starlight replied, "Yeah, I think so. We have got to know one another a lot since she took me in as her student and three months ago, we admitted the love that had developed between us."

Celestia wasn't exactly sure whether they could truly have these feelings given their past. Celestia said, "Twilight, Starlight, I know about your past," she turned to Starlight and continued, "I know how at one time you despised Twilight and her friends after what happened in the village you used to run." Her look became intense as she asked, "Starlight, do you still harbor any negative feelings towards Twilight for what she and her friends did? Are you still angry that they took your village away from you and freed those ponies from your control?"

Starlight looked her straight in the eyes and replied, "Of course not. Twilight and her friends helped me realize that everything I did, both that and the time travel situation, were wrong. I am glad that Twilight helped me see the error of my ways and I am far happier now than I was back then."

Celestia could tell by the way that Starlight answered her that she was indeed telling her the truth. What she couldn't figure out though was how the two could go from being friends to suddenly not only being in love but also wanting to become parents. She gave them both a curious look and asked, "Starlight, I understand that but still, how does a love like this develop between two friends who also have a student and teacher relationship?"

Both of them were ready to give her an answer but Twilight would be first, "Well, it just sort of happened. We just feel a real connection to one another. We both are good with advanced magic, we both like to study advanced magic and there just seems to be that connection with us."

Starlight added, "Love isn't one of those things you plan out, with us it is just there. We feel love for one another and like Twilight said, it just sort of happened."

Celestia was beginning to believe that they truly did love one another but didn't think that they were anywhere near ready to commit to something as serious as being parents. Celestia asked, "Twilight, Starlight, you two do know that before you would bring this life into the world, that you probably should be married don't you?"

Twilight replied, "That is what Starlight told me when I told her about how I wanted us to have one. She told me that if she was to do what she needed to do to get me pregnant, that we would have to get married before I gave birth."

Starlight added, "That is just how I believe, I believe that if we are to do this, we should be married before the birth."

Celestia gave Starlight a smile and replied, "Well I'm glad you think that way but I want to give you two my honest opinion on this."

Both mares nodded at Celestia causing Celestia to continue, "While your relationship is unorthodox and certainly not something I would ever expect, I will give your relationship my blessing under the following conditions."

Starlight asked, "What are those conditions?"

Celestia replied, "Well first, I really think you should wait a while until you decide to get married. Three months of being marefriends is not nearly enough time to know whether you two truly are made for one another or not."

Twilight asked, "So how long do you think we should wait?"

Celestia replied, "I think that it would be best if you wait another nine months." She got a smile on her face and continued, "I have a splendid idea. You two could get married on the one year anniversary of you two becoming marefriends. I think that would make it more special."

They both gave Celestia huge smiles and agreed enthusiastically. In unison they said, "That sounds great!"

Celesta replied, "I'm glad to know you like that idea but there is one other condition that must be met for me to give this my royal blessing."

Twilight asked, "What is that?"

Celestia replied, "You do not even attempt to conceive a foal before then, much less actually do it so that means" she cast her gaze at Starlight and continued, "you can not cast that fertility spell on yourself until your wedding night." She saw that the two still had smiles on their faces and asked, "Do you agree to these terms?"

Twilight replied, "Princess Celestia, I agree to these terms."

Starlight added, "As do I. I'm just glad that you are giving us your blessing."

Celestia replied, "And I'm glad to see that you didn't wind up in some sort of coma. From what Twilight told me in her message, I thought I'd either wind up having to use my magic to wake you up or you'd starve to death in your sleep."

Celestia received frowns from both mares. She could tell that neither one of them found any humor in her comment. She added, "I'm kidding, I didn't really expect her to starve in her sleep."

The two lost their frowns but Celestia could tell that they were still not all that happy with her. Since everything seemed to be fine with Starlight and she knew about their relationship, she decided it was time to go, "Well now that it looks like Starlight is fine, I think I'll get going." She heard a loud growl come from Starlight's stomach and continued, "And let you get some food in your system."

Starlight replied, "Thanks your Majesty, I'm really hungry!"

Twilight added, "Well you have a safe trip home."

Celestia gave the two a smile and replied, "Oh I will." She paused for a moment before giving them a grin and added, "Now don't go having too much fun you two!"

Both of them blushed as they knew what she was hinting at. In unison they replied, "Oh we won't!"

Since they would be going downstairs for breakfast, they accompanied Celestia as she headed out of the castle to return to Canterlot. Once Celestia was gone, Starlight exclaimed, "Well I'm glad that she approves of our relationship!"

Twilight replied, "I didn't even expect her to find out that we were a couple until she said she wanted to know what kind of spell you were studying."

Again Starlight's stomach growled, but much more loudly. She suggested, "Twilight sweetie, what do you say we go out and get some breakfast to celebrate?"

Twilight replied, "Sounds good to me!"

Spike, who had been quiet while Celestia was there, asked, "Can I come too?"

Before Twilight could say anything, Starlight replied, "Of course you can Spike!"

Twilight added, "Yeah, you can come."

Twilight was really wishing that their outing would be just them but realized that excluding Spike from a simple trip out for breakfast would not be all that fair, especially since there had been plenty of times when he was sent out lately and there would likely be plenty more in the future.
