Crab Cakes & Flashes

Following their meeting with Filthy Rich, Flash and Crab Cakes decided to take Sunday off to decide how to go about what to do next. Back with the Rainbooms, they had snuck into Crystal Prep to check out Crab Cake's medical files. If they could find them that is.

"This is crazy Sunset!" Rainbow said, "We shouldn't be here, we're gonna be in so much trouble if we get caught! I don't wanna spend the rest of my life in jail!"

"I can't take it anymore Rainbow!" Sunset replied as she searched, "Something is SERIOUSLY off about Skull!"

"Will you be a decent human being and call him Crab Cakes?!" Rainbow said, "He no longer goes by Skull anymore and we need to respect that even if he doesn't wanna talk to us anymore!"

"Just what in tarnation's got y'all so devish spooked about Crab Cakes Sunset?!" Applejack asked, "Nothing's wrong with him!"

"But there is!!!" Sunset said, "Something just doesn't add up!"

"Can you tell us what it is already?!?" Twilight asked, her head red and steaming with anger

"It's gotta do with Flash's story on how Skull saved him!" Sunset replied, "If Skull, WAS a senior around the time of saving Flash, Flash wouldn't be a Freshman, he'd still be in Middle School!"

"Just what the hell makes you so certain!?" Rainbow asked

Everyone then looked at her with a, 'Really nigga?' expression.

"Oh... right... eheheh... you two used to date..." Rainbow giggled embarrassingly

"But you two never even dated until you two were Sophomores. Plus shouldn't we be checking out Flash's medical files if this is the case, dear?" Rarity asked

"There's two sides of a coin Rarity! AHA! Found it!" Sunset said as she pulled out Crab Cake's medical files, "But that's outside of what I REALLY wanted to look for in these."

"THEN WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT CONVERSATION?!!?" Rainbow asked

"To get you all to shut up." Sunset said simply as she began to look through the files

"Did we just get played?" Rainbow asked with wide eyes

"We did. We fell for one of Sunset's oldest tricks." Rarity groaned in reply

"WHAT??!!?" Sunset shouted, "WHERE THE HELL IS HIS FATHER?!!?"

"Sunset? Have you been living under a rock for the past few months?" Rainbow groaned, "HE HAS NO FATHER!!!"

"Due to one of his mothers being a stripper she ended up getting pregnant with him, so it's extremely hard to pinpoint just who his father could be, especially based off of appearance as it is not one I'm at all familiar with." Rarity explained

"B-but I thought his father was gonna be the key to learning who Skull really is!!!"

"Sunset, think rationally! His father's probably long gone by now!" Applejack pointed out, "Even if he is the key to figuring out him, ah ain't going on a devish wild goose chase just to end up finding out he was dead this whole time! Because 99 times out of 100 they usually do end up dead in these types of situations!"

"FACE THE FACTS SUNSET! There's NOTHING wrong with Crab Cakes! The only thing wrong here is your stupid delusion that there is!!" Twilight shouted as she shook Sunset, "WAKE UP!!!"

Twilight then slapped her across the face.

"Wake up from this delusion that something's wrong with him! THERE ISN'T!!!" Twilight continued, "The only person that's got something wrong with them is YOU and your delusions! THIS ISN'T EQUESTRIA WHERE IT'S OBVIOUS AS TO IF SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH SOMEBODY! THIS IS REALITY!!!"

"But-"

"I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT!" Twilight said, "I should've just stayed at Crystal Prep if I was gonna discover that one of my new best friends was too stuck in her old ways to wake up to the truth and reality that they're in now."

"How could you say something like that?!!?" Sunset asked

"Maybe because Flash was right Sunset! Maybe CRAB CAKES was right!! LOOK AT WHAT WE'VE DONE! Three innocent living creatures are dead, I've become traumatized by magic and Crystal Prep, we ended up turning an extremist into a reclusive outcast shown by the fact WE HAVN'T SEEN HER SINCE CAMP EVERFREE OR OUR LAST CHARITY DRIVE and turned a SIMPLE FAN INTO A MONSTER! THOSE LAST TWO BEING US STICKING OUR NOSES WHERE IT DIDN'T BELONG TO OTHER PEOPLES AFFAIRS THAT WEREN'T OUR PROBLEM AND NEVER WERE OUR PROBLEM!!!" Twilight argued, "You know how people usually say your either part of the solution or part of the problem, well clearly the only role we fit into IS THE PROBLEM!"

"Twilight what in the world's gotten into you?!?!" Sunset asked

"I've been thinking Sunset! I've been thinking about what Flash told us! And he's right!"

"Why are you doing this?! Why are you siding with THEM now?!" Sunset asked

"To quote Flash, 'THINK ABOUT IT'! Just when have we ever done anything REMARKABLY helpful! That princess version of me or whatever pretty much turned you into modern day Germany! So disgusted by your past that you want NOTHING to do with it or even be associated with it whatsoever! I know you wanna fix the deeds you've done Sunset, I understand! I really do and what you're doing is commemorative, but it only helps prove his point! Look at Germany! They're doing the EXACT same thing you're doing! Trying to fix their deeds of the past! Though there's another thing you two have in common, NOT TRYING TO KEEP REMINDERS OF THE PAST SO YOU CAN LEARN FROM IT!"

"I am learning from my past though-"

"BUT HOW MUCH THOUGH?!" Twilight asked, "To an extent how much are you learning from it?! Are you doing what ANY smart person would do and keep the memories of your past self as well as anything PERTAINING to that past you that you keep as a reminder to help yourself from going down it again should you ever be presented with the chance to go down that path again, or are you going down the path of denial like Germany is and erasing everything pertaining to your past just so a new generation gets a better opinion of you when you know the fact they'll just somehow find out in the end anyways?!?!"

"N-no I'm not!" Sunset shouted

"Then explain to me why Flash saw you tearing down and throwing all the pics of you winning the past formals into the trash!" Twilight said showing the evidence on her phone

The rest of the Rainbooms gasped while Sunset was in shock.

"Face it you idiot, you can't change the past! EVERYONE ALREADY KNOWS WHAT YOU DID AND A HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW PEOPLE WILL STILL REMEMBER! JUST ADMIT THAT WHAT YOU'RE DOING IS A LOST CAUSE ALREADY YOU ODDBALL OF DENIAL!!!" Twilight shouted, "JUST GIVE UP ON YOUR STUPID CAUSE, STOP TRYING TO HIDE YOUR PAST ACTIONS, SUCK IT UP AND ADMIT THAT THEY HAPPENED, AND EVEN IF PEOPLE KNOW WHAT YOU DID TRY TO SHOW THEM THAT YOU'RE DIFFERENT FROM THAT PERSON! YOU DON'T DENY IT EVER HAPPENED, THAT'S LIKE TRYING TO DENY THE HOLOCAUST OR NAZI GERMANY! THE DAMAGE HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO CHANGE IT!"

"But I CAN change it! I'm creating a new legacy over my old one-"

"THAT DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT PEOPLE ALREADY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED! THE DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE, HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT BEFORE YOU GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK ASS SKULL!???!" Twilight shouted once more before readjusting her glasses and gasping for air

"What's happening to you Twilight?! We're friends, we shouldn't be arguing like this!" Sunset said

"You wanna know what happened? It's Crab Cakes opening my mind. It's Flash's words from Crab Cakes opening my mind. They got me to thinking when I heard that the Dazzlings were dead. And those words got me to realizing... they're right. We ARE the villains. Just look at the damage we've caused Sunset. To you, to the Dazzlings, to me, to Gloriosa, and to Montage. We're not heroes, we're monsters." Twilight said before leaving the room

It was those last five words from Twilight that echoed throughout the minds of the Rainbooms and Sunset as the building went quiet.
