Chapter 5

Previous Chapter

Dear journal,

It feel like forever since I wrote something. Even though Twi won't be happy about this, I'll only cover what I consider to be major incidents. Even without the adventures in the human world, I have enough for over 195 entries before I catch up to present day. Whatever. Let's get into the story

I let out a yawn as I dragged myself out of bed. Slipping on my jacket, I left my home and headed to Filthy Rich's mansion. I waited as their butler got Diamond Tiara ready to go to school. "Do you have everything, pipsqueak?" I asked, pausing in the middle to yawn. (It takes me a while to wake up in the morning)

"Excuse me?" asked the filly, offended at something. Taking a moment to go over what I just said, I realized what I did wrong.

"Sorry, Miss pipsqueak," I said jokingly.

"Don't call me that!" she said loudly.

"Alright," I said with a chuckle. "but seriously, do you have everything?"

"Of course I do," she said. Deciding to have some fun, I decided to test her.

"Pencils?"

"Yep," said Diamond, pulling out one to prove it.

"Paper?" Diamond once again prove that she had it. "Lunch?" Sure enough, she had it. "Snobbish attitude?"

"Of course I have a..." Diamond Tiara paused as her brain processed what I just said. "Aza!" I laughed as her embarrassment caused her face to redden. I had to duck when Diamond threw a nearby rock in anger.

"Come on, that's the best you got?" I taunted with a smile. Dodging her next couple of throws, I began running away.

"Come back here," said Diamond as she chased me. I had to go slow to not have her lose me. I waved as we passed Sliver Spoon, who waved back clearly confused. "Silver, help me get him". Silver joined Diamond in her chase.

"Come on, you got to try hard than that," I said, glancing back. I saw Diamond's upset face and Silver's confused one. If you're wondering why I'm doing this, it's to get Diamond to unwind a bit. Her mother hardly give her opportunities to be a filly, so I decide to use this moments to make her forget her status. I give her moments where she forgets about her reputation. "Hi, Pinkie, Bye, Pinkie". I heard Pinkie respond, but didn't look back. Finally, the chase ended when we got to the school house. I stopped and felt Diamond tackle me.

"Aha, finally caught you," Diamond Tiara inbetween pants.

"Yep, it certainly appears that is the case," I said with a chuckle. I could easily escape, but decided to play along.

"Now apologize for what you did," she said.

"Okay, okay," I said. "I'm sorry that I tried to trick you into saying that you have a snobbish attitude." I heard Silver giggle a bit before Diamond glared at her friend. I lifted Diamond off of me and placed her down beside me. "Okay, go in before you're late".

"This isn't over," she said as she entered the school.

"Have fun," I said before leaving. While talking back home, I heard Pinkie singing. Since I had nothing better to do, I decided to investigate. When I found her, I found Rainbow, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie, and even Fluttershy surrounding Twi. I couldn't quite make out what they were saying, but I'm certain that I heard Pinkie say something about oatmeal.

"QUIET!" yelled Twi, surprising the other mares. Well, except Pinkie, who kept talking.

"And then I said oatmeal, are you craz..." she stopped talking at that point. "Oh"

"Girls, there's no use in arguing," Twi said.

"But Twilight," pleaded Rarity. I decided to see what the big deal was before I play interference.

"This is my decision," said Twi as she stared at each of the surronding mares, "and I'm going to make it on my own." Base on that statement, Twi got something the others want and they're fighting over it. "and I certainly can't think straight with all this noise, not to mention hunger. Now go on shoo". The other mares grumbled as they left. "And don't worry, I'll figure this out... somehow".

"Hey, Twi," I said with a wave. "I heard the ruckus".

"Ugh," she groaned. "I just want some lunch".

"Then why don't I buy you lunch while you tell me what all the hoopla was about," I offered.

"I still don't think that is a real word," said Twi as we walked to a nearby restaurant. While we waited for the waiter, Twi told me about the tickets and the other's reasons. I had to laugh at what happened when the waiter came.

"Have you made your decision?" he said.

"I CAN'T DECIDE!" shouted Twi in frustration. This caused the nearby ponies to look at our table.

"Twilight, he just wants to take your order," Spike said, pointing at the menu. Twi and I ordered a daffodil and daisy sandwich while Spike tried to order rubies. When they didn't have any, he ordered extra crispy hay fries.

"So what do you think?" Twi asked us. I was about to give my opinion, but Spike spoke up first.

"I think we have to try another restaurant. I mean, I like grass just fine, but would it hurt anybody to offer some gemstones?" complained Spike.

"I mean about the Gala and the ticket and who I should take," said Twi with an annoyed expression.

"Oh. You're still on that?," asked Spike.

"Spike, be more sensible," I said. "Imagine if you had to make a decision like this".

"Your food," the waiter said as he placed down our plates. Before we could eat, we saw ponies running. "Em, madam? Are you going to eat your food in ze rain?"

"It's not raining..." she said as she saw that it was, in fact, raining. "What's going on?" We looked up and saw a familiar rainbow maned pegasus.

"Hi there, best friend forever I've ever ever had. Enjoying the sunny weather?" She said.

"Wow, two evers," I said sarcastically. "She's truly pulling out all the stops".

"Rainbow Dash, what are you doing?" asked Twi, even though it was obvious.

" Whaddya mean? I just saw the smartest, most generous pony about to get rained on, so I thought I'd kick a hole in the clouds to keep her dry so she could dine in peace, that's all," Rainbow said in a blatant attempt to butter Twi up.

"Okay, two things," I said as I rubbed my head. "First, while I can't argue with the smartest part, there is a reason why Rarity is the element of generousity. Second, I want you to seal up that hole, find the others and meet up in the library".

"Ugh, fine," she groaned as she zipped up the cloud. Twi tried to eat her sandwich, but the rain caused it to get soggy. I apologized for not thinking that through, but she understood.

"Twilight, it's raining," Rarity said. we both had different responses.

"No, really?" Twi said.

"Really," I said before glancing around. "Dear Celestia, it is. How did I not notice this before?"

"Come with me before you catch a cold," Rarity said before attempting to grab Twi. I stepped in between the two of them. "Aza, I would like to get Twilight out of this dreadful weather".

"Only Twi?" I asked. "What about me or Spike?"

"Of course, you guys too," she said with a nervous chuckle.

"Come to the library," I said. "We'll settling this now". She grumbled out an agreement. We all headed to the library. On our way there, we picked up Applejack and Rainbow Dash. I was surprised when we found Fluttershy also doing favors. I chuckled when she outright admitted to trying to get the tickets. "At least, she's honest about it". Twi was then pulled outside by Pinkie who was throwing a mini party. Thankfully, we manage to pull her into the library before she told the whole town. "Pinkie, can you stop being a taradiddle for one second?"

"A what?" Rainbow Dash asked, confused. "You made that word up".

"Taradiddle is someone or something that is filled with pretentious nonsense or something that is a lie," I explained. "Pinkie would fall in the nonsense category. Thanks, word of the day calendar".

"I told you that he would enjoy it," I heard Twi tell Spike. I chuckled before glaring at each of the ponies.

"Twi gave me a brief summary about what is going on and I have one thing to say". I paused to take a breath. "All of you are selfish". As expected, the five mare tried arguing. "Out of all of you, Applejack is the one that is the least selfish, but still." I took a deep breath to calm myself down. "I want to sell food. I want to meet the Wonderbolts. I want to party. I want to be the belle of the ball. I want to see the royal gardens. Now what is missing in those statements?" I saw Pinkie about to answer, but I continued before she had a chance. "I don't have any of you give any consideration about what Twi wants". The five mares looked down sadly. "While you were thinking about how to get the tickets, Twi was stressing out, trying to decided on who to give the tickets to". I heard the five ponies apologize to Twi, who instantly forgave them.

"It's important to all of you and I just can't stand to disappoint any of you," she said, explaining the issue to her friends.

"So in order to solve this," I said as I grabbed the tickets. "I have decided that nobody will go".

"WHAT?!", shouted the six ponies.

"Do any of you think that you deserve to go after what just happened?" I asked. "It's better that everyone is sad by not going, than have only a couple ponies be able to have a 'good time' at the gala". The mares mumbled their agreement, but it was obvious that they didn't agree with the plan. "Spike, could you do the honor?" Spike saluted before getting ready to send the tickets back.

"Wait," Twi said before asked Spike to take a note. "Dear Princess Celestia, I've learned that one of the joys of friendship is sharing your blessings, but when there's not enough blessings to go around, having more than your friends can make you feel pretty awful. So, though I appreciate the invitation, I will be returning both tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala. If my friends can't all go, I don't wanna go either". We watch as the letter was sent away. A couple seconds later, Celestia sent a response with seven tickets. One for each ponies, including me. The mares left to celebrate while Spike became sad.

"How come I don't get a ticket to the gala?" the young dragon asked before burping up another ticket. Spike excitedly ran out with his ticket, causing me to chuckle. I paused as I realized something.

"If she had enough tickets for everyone in the beginning, why did she only send two?" I thought out loud. "Maybe she didn't expect this to happen or maybe she was trying to teach Twi a lesson". I decided to have Spike send a letter when he got back. I then realized that I forgot about Diamond Tiara. I quickly ran to the mansion she lived in to apologize.

She was upset, but eventually forgave me. This was a long entry for me. Not only did I forget a couple of moments and had to rely on Twi to refresh my memory, I also had to figure out how to spell taradiddle. I threw away the page with the word a long time ago. Now that I think about Celestia never gave me a solid answer. I need to do something about this.

Until next time,
