The End of the Beginning

The Divide is the harshest place you can find, a dead world lies in wait to drag you down with it. At first it was a promise, a place where civilization could start again. Made by one man, and the road he walked, his lonesome road. People sprung up around him, in that Old World graveyard, life formed over death, ironic when you think about it.

The Bear and the Bull fought over this, two symbols of the new world fighting over one of the old. But in this wasteland we’ve become, nothing will last forever or be in its prime before it falls in a blaze of glory. The man who made this place was it’s death, even if unintentional.

Old World weapons, scattered around and inactive, brought back to life. In one massive explosion another civilization fell just like the one before. Creaters from the ground, Tunnelers, building collapsing, and the men of East and West joining together with flesh melted off and having gone insane, Marked Men, the most terrifying creation.

This is how the creator, killer, and aminisac man found it, Courier Six. He has traversed the Divide without dieing, one of two. The other was a man who saw promise in the Divide, believed in it, fought for it, and sought revenge for it. Searching everywhere for The Courier yet always being ahead, leading him to the Divide.

A man of Caesars Legion, and another fighting for New Vegas. Two different flags, two different men, one a vigilante, one a killer. Bouncing off each other in a fight of symbols, until they reach the crossroads. A plan to burn the Mojave just like the Courier had done, coming to a head. Monsters of Bear and Bull outside.

“If we cannot prevent what comes, then let us make our stand here. Two Couriers, together, at the Divide.”

I grab my weapon to start fighting, the Courier does the same. “I would be honored too, even if we die, the Mojave shall survive.” The Courier says.

It is then the beasts flood in, ready to kill. But they face the two who survived, and both were ready to fight the Bear and Bull one last time.

Using my 12.77 submachine-gun the ‘war drum’ from the White Legs, I mow down all who come from the main enternce, all put down in one final mercy. My Eyebots cover the left enterece, with the Courier moving all around.

Luckily for me, and unlucky for them, I had an almost unlimited amount of ammo within my Pip Boy. The first clip that ran out caused a few to get too close. Grabbing Old Glory I quickly put down all who get near. The first received a surprising mashed skull.

But as I did this, more flooded in. I could see the Courier rounding them to one area. Then when he got most over there, he ran.

“DUCK!” The Courier shouts, pulling out the Lazer Detnator. It was at this moment I saw the warhead above them. I managed to get behind some consoles the second before it exploded.

“BOOM BICHES!” The Courier shouts in glee. The display of gore was beautiful, and made me glad that I had on my rebreather. He seemed to enjoy it too much for a normal person, but in this world no one is normal, and explosions are a good way to get happy, he was even doing a little dance.

“I get that that was great, but we are not done yet!” I shout back in reply, seeing about twenty more storm in.

“Oh come on, that was fun!” A Marked Man reminded him of where we were by slapping him, “OW, FUCK, MOTHER FUCKER!” Have you ever seen someone putting C4 on an axe? Well I have now, he even put a reloading function on, and it didn’t break. I think I understand how he got through the Divide now.

Well, the ridiculousness continues, as he pulls out a FUCKING INDUSTREAL HAND WITH BLADES REPLACED WITH GRANADES! HOW? HOW INSANE IS HE?! HOW DOES THIS WORK?! As I’m having an aneurism over his weapon, he kills all that are left.

“Well, that’s that.” He says casually as he starts looting. “Don’t forget to blink Ulysses.” It’s now that I realize I haven’t done anything since he started killing.

“Well, that’s something you don’t see everyday.” I reply as cool as possible. “It’s me your talking about, normal and me don’t have the best relations.” He says, “Besides, seeing the Divide you should know I love bombs, or is that a bit early and offensive?”

“I’m glad your on my side and not their side.” I say. “Everyone says that, especially Benny and Yes Man.” He reply’s. I still don’t get how he can side with the man who shot him, but, hey, I’m doing the same.

“Well, stop your looting, we still have a missle to disarm. Unless you want the Mojave to blow up.” I say sarcastically.

“Oh! I knew I forgot something. ED-E!”

“The missiles are about to launch, you are the only one who can do it. I’m sorry, you flew far, you flew fast, now you get to save the world.”

“Goodbye, ED-E, I will meet you again even if not on this model.”

“Sorry to interrupt, but we’re saving civilization! We have almost no time left!” I shout with urgency.

It was then the eyebot, ED-E, flew up to the console and started, “We have to run now!”I shout to the Courier, and he follows my instructions instantly.

We got to the Temple exit, explosions around us as we run. History being repeated and then stoped. As we were about to exit we got one more gift

“GWWWWAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!” A Marked Man comes around the corner. Before I know what happened, I had a blade from my shoulder to my torso. The Courier killed him, but it was too late.

“NO! ULYSSES!” He shouts,” Don’t die, not now!” He hurriedly shifts through his pack, looking for medicine.

“Go, leave me, the Divide has left me its last gift.” I struggle to say.

“No! You are going to live!” He says as he finds his Stimpacks.

“Leave me! I shall be buried with those I fought for, Divide Natives and Legion Brothers.” I state finally. “The Mojave needs you, all I would do is watch over a graveyard.”

“Fine, I will never forget you, or the lessons you teached. I will make it my duty for people to know and learn from history, and I shall enforce it.” He concludes. “Good” I barely whisper, as I watch him walk away.

I know that the holotape will be waiting for him. My final words before I fade to the dark were, “Maybe I will finally find this gods land.” The dark takes over, as I’m surrounded by brothers, together in death. Together in insanity, together in our spirit, and together with forgiveness for the Courier, founder, destroyer, and finally savior.

Peace, at last, funny how this is the first time I felt it, in the darkness. That is, until a voice speaks.

“Ulysses, hahaha, vigilante, courier, knower of history and philosophy. Truely you are a great man, just putting his ‘chips’ on the wrong color. One of two who survived the Divide, you are not done. I can revive you, send you somewhere with great darkness ahead, even though it may seem bright. Things that will boggle the mind, well, your mind. And, in order to save you from the illusion of free choice, you will go, no matter what. Goodbye for now Ulysses, you will see me again when stone breaks! Hahahahhahahahahhhahhahahh!”

I feel a falling sensation.
