Author's Note

Hey there! Just some background before you drive into this story.

This story is set before the end of Season 4 of FiM, so Twilight does not have her castle, and she will continue to live in her treehouse. So basically, no Lord Tirek.

That’s really all I’ve got, I’ll answer any other questions in the comments.

Enjoy!

Chapter 1

“Goodnight bitch!”

Anonymous yelled up the stairs to a peeking head. The head belonged to a teenage girl, who couldn’t have been older than 18. She was dressed only in a white robe, and she had the string tied very lightly, teasing his eyes with some cleavage. Other than that she was completely naked. She merely laughed in response to his goodbye.

He then opened the front door of the house and let himself out. Shutting the door after stepping out, Anon reached into the pockets of his shorts. He felt the shape of his car keys, and pulled them out his right pocket. The howl of a cold breeze broke the silence of the night. He felt the tingling chill of ice run up his back and down his legs.

“Damn, I really should’ve worn pants, it’s fucking icy.” Anon muttered to himself as he continued to make his way to his vehicle.

He was dressed only in a grey hoodie, thin black shorts, and a pair of lightly worn Vans. On a night like this, someone going out in clothing like that was asking to be cold. But he didn’t let the weather bother him too much. He was on a mission that night.

A mission to fuck that girl.

She had sent him a private message on Instagram earlier that day. She told his how her parents were gonna for the weekend, and that she wanted him to “come over and hang.” Anon, being the fuckboy that he is, kindly accepted her offer. She was no stranger, he had seen her in the hall at school a handful of times. Sure, they had never had a normal conversation, nor had they ever talked before tonight, but was that gonna stop the sexual predator inside him?

Hell no! Anon said in his head. Wait, what was her name again?

His train of thought was interrupted by the feeling on his face hitting the side of a car. His Jeep, to be exact.

“Dumbass.” Anon cursed himself as he clicked his key and unlocked the driver side door.

He opened the door of his black Wrangler and let himself inside. Being a taller guy, Anon didn’t have much trouble getting into the elevated vehicle. Others though, didn’t fare so well. Many of the girls he’d taken home in the past needed help getting in his Jeep. One time this one girl slipped on the side of the doorstep and fell right on her ass.

Dumb bitch. He thought as he recalled the memory. He chucked a bit after thinking of it some more.

He settled into the seat and inserted the key into the ignition and turned. The engine sputtered a little, but then roared to life. All of the lights on the dashboard lit up and then faded until only the vital gauges remained. He brought his attention to the fuel gauge. Half a tick off full.

This put a wide smile on Anon’s face. “Awesome.” He mimicked Rainbow Dash as he expressed his joy.

He reached over to the door side and grabbed the seat belt. He slid the metallic piece across his chest and into the lock. Once it had clicked, he reached for the gear shift. Just as he was going to put the car into drive, his phone vibrated in his pocket.

It’s two in the morning, who’s texting me now?

For other kids his age, being up at 2 am was no big deal. But it was the Wednesday before Christmas, and they had just gotten out of school for the holidays. Most kids just wanted to catch up on sleep on a night like this. But not Anon. He was makin’ moves.

He pulled a black iPhone out of his pocket and brought it up to his face so he could see. It actually wasn’t a text, it was a Snapchat notification from his friend Brett. Same difference. He unlocked his phone and checked to see what Brett had sent him.

‘yo u still got the shit for tmrw?’ Is exactly what he typed. Despite the shitty English, Anon knew what Brett was asking.

He sent back a simple “Yup” and turned on his phone’s flashlight. He unbuckled and directed the beam of white light at the pair of back seats behind him. He searched around the area with his eyes and doubled checked the “shit for tmrw.”

Brett was referring to the bags of weed and various pills, along with cases with bottles of Hennessy that Anon had placed in the trunk of the Jeep with caution. He also had boxes of rolling paper and a small supply of the classic red plastic party cup. All of this was not for him, sadly. There was going to be a massive “Christmas” party at Sydney Baxter’s house. Everyone was going to be there, it was the most hyped up party of the year, the party where freshman and seniors alike got fucked up together.

Anon and Brett weren’t going to get fucked up though.

“We’re gonna sell of this shit and make bank!” He remembered Brett telling him yesterday. “Just hold on to all of it until Friday, my mom’s been a bitch lately.”

That’s the part that Anon didn’t like. He didn’t want to keep all of this stuff in his Jeep until then. Not that he was scared of being caught by the police, he just didn’t like all of the space being taken up.

“I got you, Brett.” He recalled telling his friend.

It’s whatever though. As long as I get my cut.

Along with the drugs, or as he affectionately called them, the party supplies - a clear Pinkie reference, intentional of course - he had the majority of his personal belongings. He was supposed to be on his way to his older sister’s apartment. It was a tradition of his to stay with her for the few days leading up to Christmas and then go back to his Mom’s house to celebrate the holiday. His sister didn’t give a single damn about what he did, so he stayed with her a lot just so he could do whatever.

What he had brought with him consisted of mainly his clothing, his PS4, and a favorite among his collection of items, his Glock 19. It was a gift from his father, given to him many years ago to be used once he was of age.

But when his father was shot and killed by a masked gunman during a bank robbery, he swore to use it only for self-defense. That was two years ago. And while Brett had asked him once or twice to pull a prank on someone with the weapon, Anon was too scarred emotionally to allow his friend to do such a thing. Joking with a firearm was like mocking his father’s death to him.

Anon snapped out of his thoughts and back to reality when an alarm on his phone rang out, disrupting the silence. His phone read 2:30 AM and the message which he had previously wrote for himself.

“Go home fag”

He had set it just in case he were to fall asleep after fucking that girl. Which reminded him, he needed to get to his sister’s place. It was nearly three in the morning, not that she’d care that he was out this late; he didn’t want to mess up his sleep schedule.

With that, he put his seatbelt back on, and plugged a dangling aux cord into his phone. Anon pulled up his favorite playlist, and hit shuffle. Star Shopping by Lil Peep began to play softly and loosened the eerie vibe of the dark and foggy night. He pressed his foot lightly on the gas, and started his way to his sister’s apartment.

Although the weather on this particular night wasn’t the best, he still enjoyed driving alone, even under these conditions. Driving with your friends is awesome, blasting music, speeding, and overall dicking around. All that was great, but sometimes Anon liked to get away from everyone and leave himself to his thoughts.

After a few songs, Anon was about half the way to his sister’s. He had just made a turn onto a thin, two-lane back road that was much darker and windier than usual. On the sides of the road were deep ditches and seemingly endless amounts of forest.

He didn’t pay much attention to this though, he was too lost in his thoughts to be fully aware of his surroundings. Adding to his ignorance was the fact that he was deadly tired, and beginning to fall asleep behind the wheel. He had nodded off behind the wheel before, but never had it happened while he was alone, at night.

Anon felt his eyelids being dragged down by forces he could not combat. He did his best to keep his strained eyes open, but despite his efforts he slowly slumped back into his seat and let his tired brain take control. He involuntarily loosened his grip on the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to jerk slightly and cause his unconscious body to lean forward. All of his weight shifted and his foot put pressure on the gas pedal, accelerating the Jeep to near highway speeds.

Speeding up and jerking wildly due to the wheel being free from his grip, Anon awoke to find he was leaning on the dashboard going 80 miles per hour. The Jeep had started leaning toward the opposite lane and was soon going to go off the road. In a panic he grabbed the steering wheel and attempted to correct the vehicles position. He completed this action was much more strength than required, as he overcorrected and lost control of his car.

The tires no longer had traction to the road and he began to swerve wildly. Anon, in a moment of pure genius, tried to gain control again, and only sent himself in the direction of the forest to his right. He braced himself for the incoming crash.

There was no guard rail on the side of the road, so the Jeep went right off the side and toward a deep ditch. The Wrangler was a tough vehicle, practically build to withstand crashes. Humans like Anon however, aren’t designed in that fashion.

The front of the Jeep slammed into the ground with sizeable force; at the same time Anon’s head hit the top of the steering wheel. Hard. The impact had knocked him out cold.

Is this it? Was the last thought that went through his head before the darkness closed in and he lost consciousness.

—————————————————————————————————————

The Princess of Friendship was exhausted.

Twilight had just returned from a tiring day in Canterlot, a day full of royal appearances, meetings, and stand-ins. It was one of the busiest days she’d ever had, and that’s saying a lot, considering it is Twilight Sparkle.

It was the middle of the night now, and all she wanted to do was get some rest.

“You know Spike, its days like today that make you wish you weren’t a princess sometimes.”

She said to her assistant, chuckling a bit afterward.

“I wouldn’t know Twi.”

“Oh, yeah, that’s right. You aren’t a princess.”

“Sadly, no.”

Spike laughed at his own remark. Twilight just gave him a motherly look of disregard as she rolled her eyes at the dragon.

“What’s on the schedule for tomorrow?”

“Uh let me check” Spike said, walking to a nearby table and picking up a scroll off of it.

“A whole lot of nothing, actually. Oh, you do have a Pinkie party to attend at noon, but other than that, you’re free.”

“Really?!”

Twilight’s face lit up with glee.

“Yup.”

“That’s such a relief. I was hoping for a lighter schedule, I need to get some studying done and I haven’t had time recently!”

“You were studying on the train back from Canterlot today.”

“Well that wasn’t as much time as I had wanted to study for.”

“It was a three hour ride, Twi.”

“Well, you know me!”

“Heh, you and your books.”

Twilight just smiled back at the young reptilian.

“It’s a little stuffy in here, do you think you could open up a window or something?”

“Sure thing, Spike!”

The Princess hopped up from her spot on her bed and made her way toward her balcony door, which doubled as a window. Her horn light up and she used her magic to turn the handle and open the glass door. She swung it open wide and was greeted by a cool breeze. It was a warmer night than usual, but that made it perfect.

She stepped outside on to her balcony and looked out over Ponyville. It was very late at night, and nopony was out and about. She looked further, past the town and saw the edge of the Everfree forest, as well as the small dot which was Fluttershy’s cottage.

She opened up her wings and let the comfortable air flow through them. It was such a soothing feeling, and it sent shivers down her spine. Having wings was still relatively new to her, but she enjoyed them very much. Although she had teleportation, wings made it easier to get around when magic wasn’t appropriate. Overall, this princess thing wasn’t so bad.

BOOM

Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud noise accompanied by a flash of white light, both of which come from an area of the Everfree. An area awfully close to Fluttershy’s place. Even after the light faded, Twilight stood still on her balcony, thinking about and analyzing what had just happened.

What in Equestria was that?!

Was it a meteor?

Is it somepony?

Somepony good? Evil?

Is it even alive? Was it ever?

“Twilight, what was that noise?”

The purple mare snapped back into reality to see Spike standing next to her. He sported a half-scared, half-confused look on his little face.

“I don’t know Spike, but I plan to find out!”

She left the balcony and dragged the dragon along with her, flying her way to the floor of the treehouse. Once they touched earth, the princess turned to her assistant.

“Spike, I need to send a letter to Fluttershy!”

“U-uh, ok.”

He ran out of the room for a brief moment and returned with a pen and scroll. He looked to Twilight and nodded, ready to write down whatever she spoke.

“Dear Fluttershy,”

—————————————————————————————————————

“And they all lived happily ever after. Now wasn’t that a nice story Angel?”

The yellow pegasus put down the children’s book and looked upon the snow white bunny. He was fast asleep.

“Well it looks like someone was tired.”

She giggled as she got up from the chair she was sitting in and made her way to her bookshelf. Putting the book back in its place, she walked into her kitchen and looked the clock on the wall.

“Oh my, I didn’t know it was this late! I should get some rest.”

She spun around and faced the stairs and began to make her away towards them. The mare started to slowly trot up the steps when a wave of exhaustion hit her. She hadn’t realized how tired she was.

I really need to start going to bed sooner. I wouldn’t want to miss Pinkie’s party because I was sle-

BOOM

Her thoughts were cut short by the powerful noise that rang out into the night. She looked around only to see that the room was, for a couple of seconds, very bright due to a white light pouring in from the windows.

As the glare of the flash began to dim down, she fly to one of her windows and looked out. It seemed like the noise and flash came from the same place, the Everfree Forest.

“Eep!”

Fluttershy let out a sound of fear as she discovered the source of the disturbance. Not only did the sound and light come from the Everfree, it’s looked like it was not too far from her cottage. This worried the element of kindness.

But she didn’t let her mind dwell on that thought too long. She needed to check on Angel to see if he was ok. She rushed into the room were he was staying, and sure enough, he was sound asleep.

“How in Equestria?”

The small rabbit was still tucked in where she had left him, and totally unaware of what had just unfolded. A look of relief stretched across the face of the winged pony.

“Wow Angel, you sure are a heavy sleeper.”

She spoke with a whisper to keep him from stirring.

But whatever could all that have been?

She wondered to herself, as she was still dumbfounded at what had caused the unusual disruption.

All of a sudden, another flash of light, this one smaller and more familiar to the pegasus, came before her as a scroll appeared in the air. The rolled paper then fell into her awaiting hooves.

“A scroll, from Twilight? At this hour?”

She unrolled the parchment and began to read.

“Maybe this will explain what just happened.”

She read the message thoroughly, and repeated it to herself in her head.

Dear Fluttershy,

I would tell you that I’m sorry for disturbing you at this time of night, but I’m afraid you know as well as I do the reason I am contacting you.

I have concern for what the source of the light and noise was, and from where I can see on my balcony, it seemed to have come from the Everfree Forest, not to mention an area of the forest close to your cottage. If I was able to investigate myself at this time, I would. But I have had quite a busy day and I am exhausted, although I will be over first thing in the morning.

But I am going to ask this of you. I will not be offended if you decline my request. In case of an immediate threat, or if somepony needs help, I would like you to go and check out what has happened. I know this is a tall order, and that it could be dangerous and scary, but I know you can do it Fluttershy. I have been brave when others weren’t before, I believe that you can do it again.

All I am asking is that you see what has happened, and tell me about it once I have arrived in the morning. Again, if you do not want to do this, don't worry. Morning is only a few hours away, but there could be something that need immediate attention.

I await your decision, and I will be at your cottage promptly at sunrise.

Princess Twilight Sparkle

“Oh my goodness, Twilight is asking ME to investigate the noise and light?”

The yellow mare’s hooves began to shake, and she wanted to dart to her room and hide.

“No, I can't just hide! What if somepony needs help, or what if Equestria is in danger?”

Her emotions were battling with each other, but she had already made up her mind.

“My friend needs my help, and I’m going to do just that!”

She said with triumph as she walked over to her day pack and swung it over her back.

“Angel, I'll be back soon, don’t you worry!”

The words fell on deaf ears as the bunny was deep in sleep.

With that, she opened up the door to her cottage, and set off into the Everfree Forest.

“I hope everything is alright.”

She said with a justified fear in her voice as she made her way in the direction of the disturbance.

“Don’t be silly Shy, everything is fine.”

She reassured herself.

“Everything is fine.”
