My Brave Pony: Starfleet Magic: The New Member (Rewrite)

It was a peaceful night in United Equestria. Jewel was resting peacefully in Lightning and Starla's guest bedroom, until she began to have a strange dream...

Jewel found herself in a large void with stars all around her.

"Hello? Is anybody there?"

A figure began to approach her and before there, right in front bt of Jewel was Twilight's angel. "Twilight? What are you doing here?"

"Hello Jewel, I am here to tell you of a powerful weapon that can help you in this war." Twilight replied.

"A weapon?"

"Yes. It is called the 'Staff of Animal Spirits' it's a powerful staff that can summon the spirits of animals."

"So its like my powers?"

"Yes. In a way."

"Woah. So how do I find it?"

"The staff is hidden on the planet Allura."

"Okay Twilight. So how do I find it?"

"You will know when you get there." With that the void began to waver and Jewel woke up.

Jewel awoke calmly and pondered about what just happened.

The next day she told all her friends, including Mykan and they were all at New Canterlot Palace with their majesties, who were already informed about Jewel's dream.

"So basically, Twilight came into your dream and told you of a powerful staff that can help us in this war." Lightning summarized.

Jewel nodded.

"This is very interesting, this is the first time I've heard of this 'Staff of Animal Spirits'." Grand Ruler added.

“Me too, but if it is as powerful as Twilight claimed then we must find it.” Celestia added.

"Twilight told me that it's on Planet Allura." Jewel added.

"I've read about that, it filled with all kinds of creatures." Lightning stated.

"Then Jewel, you must go to Planet Allura and find this staff at once." Queen Celestia said.

Hearing that, caused Jewel start to get a nervous stomach. Going to another planet... by herself... this was something that she never done before. Who knows what could happen to her. Mykan seemed to sense her worries and asked,

"Excuse me, your majesties. May I go with Jewel?"

The ponies were surprised by Mykan's question, but they agreed that it would be a good idea for Jewel to have some company with her. "We can't just leave her alone." Lightning said.

"Yeah. Especially with Sombra's forces after her." Pinkie added. Their majesties agreed as well and gave Mykan permission to accompany Jewel on her first space trot.

The friends all pitched in and helped Jewel and Mykan pack for their quest; Applejack, Buddy and Pinkie Pie gave them all sorts of food. Rarity gave them warm clothing. "Thanks you guys." Jewel thanked, "Yeah. Thanks a lot." Mykan added.

"No problem you two." Lightning stated.

Mykan brought his Sword of Pure Soul, Shield of Righteousness and cape along for the quest, in case they ran into Sombra's minions.

Soon everything was ready and the dimensional pathway was ready. Jewel hugged all her friends, "Please be careful." Starla pleaded.

"I will." Jewel replied.

"Don't worry. I'll keep her safe." Mykan added.

"Good luck on your quest, Jewel." Queen Celestia praised. Jewel and Mykan bowed to her and they enetered the pathway.

Lightning and Starla were still worrying about Jewel, "Do you think she'll be okay, Master?" Lightning asked.

Grand Ruler smiled at his student, "Don't worry Lightning, she will be fine." What none of them realized was that Carla was secretly watching from one of the palace windows. "What until the others here this." she thought to herself and she vanished away.

Jewel and Mykan made it to Planet Allura safe and sound. Jewel was immediately amazed by the variety of wildlife; Pheonix's, Hippogriffs, even buffalo and four-legged alicorns, Pegasus and unicorns!

"Amazing!" Myakn gasped, "so Jewel any clue as to where to start looking?"

"I wish I knew, but Twilight didn’t give me any clues." Jewel replied.

"Ummm... Jewel, why is your horn glowing?" Mykan asked. Jewel looked up at her horn and saw to her surprise that it was blinking. Her horn sent out a magical blast on the ground and made a path of crystals that led deep into the forest.

"Looks like we found our path." Mykan replied. Jewel and Mykan followed the path into the forest; trees were so thick that they could barely see where they were going. Wild animal noises came from all directions, making Jewel nervous. Jewel slightly shivered with fear, which Mykan noticed and placed his hand on her shoulder. "Easy Jewel." he soothed.

That calmed her down.... until the bushes near the two rustled. Mykan immediately jumped in front of Jewel, sword drawn, ready to attack whatever was about to come out of the bush. A figure came out of the bush slowly and looked at Mykan and Jewel. "Hello." it greeted, catching Jewel and Myakn off guard.

It was too dark for Mykan and Jewel to see it clearly, but based in the voice, it was determined the figure was male. "What are you two doing here in the Dark Forest?"

"We're on a quest to find the Staff of Animal Spirits but we can see anything in this forest." Jewel explained.

"That's all? I can help you guys. Just follow me." the figure offered. Myakn and Jewel accepted the request and followed it out of the Dark Forest and into the sunlight, which made it easier to see the figure.

It looked like a anthropomorphic alicorn it had dark blue, dragon wings, scales from head to tail. Its body was light blue and it had a golden mane. "Sorry that I didn't introduce myself back there. My name is Midnight."

Jewel and Mykan looked at each other and back at Midnight, "Ummm... Midnight.... I dint mean to be rude, but what exactly are you? I've never seen anything like you." Mykan asked.

"I'm a Kirin-- a pony and dragon hybrid." Midnight replied.

"Really? Cool?!" Jewel exclaimed, "My name is Jewel and this is Mykan."

Myakn waved at Midnight, "Hey."

"So you still want to help us, Midnight?" Mykan asked.

A big, goofy smile made it's way to Midnight's face, "You bet!" he replied, excited. "Great! Let's get moving!" Jewel said. Jewel, Mykan and their new friend Midnight continued following the crystal path.

Back on United Equestria, Lightning and friends were at the Cake's Café for lunch. Lightning was still worrying about Jewel which didn't go unnoticed by his friends, "Lightning, darling, relax, Jewel has Mykan with her. She'll be alright." Rarity stated.

Lightning sighed, "I know, but I can't help but worry for her."

"We're all worried about her, but she's shown to all of us that she can care for herself when she wants to." Buddy added.

Everybody nodded.

"Yeah. You're right, guys. She'll be fine." Lightning said, with confidence. The friends all smiled.

Suddenly, cried of panic were heard from outside along with a loud "BOOM"

"What in the hotel-bills was that?" Applejack asked.

"Something not good. Let's go!" Lightning ordered. The friends raced out of the café and saw what had the ponies spooked; a large, black octopus about twenty feet tall with white suction cups and brown spots on its back. It was crawling down the street using its massive tentacles to hit houses and the ground causing major damage.

Ponies ran into their respective houses and the shields came up.

"Let's do this!" Lightning called.

"STARFLEET MAGIC!!!

HARMONY HOUR, FRIENDSHIP POWER..!!!

DRAGON POWER!

The octopus swung one of it's eight massive tentacles at the gang. The fled out of the way and attacked.

“STAR SHOWER”

“LEAF SWARM”

“PAINT BOMB”

“DRILL QUILL”

BOOM-BOOM ROCKETS"

The attacks made their marks, but the octopus didn't even flinch! The octopus grabbed Starla in one of it's tentacles.

"Starla!" Lightning cried.

"VINE WHIP" Buddy extended his whip and whipped the octopus making it let go of Starla. Lightning rushed over to his fiance, "Are you alright?"

"Yeah. I'm good."

"DRAGON FLAMEWHEEL" Spike curled up in a blaze and charged into the octopus. However, it's smooth body caused it to take minimum damage.

The octopus opened it mouth and launched multiple projectiles at the ponies. The ponies dodged like crazy, but still got hit hard.

The blasts left their suits with only ten percent of power left!

"This isn't working," Applejack grumbled, "We need a bigger force!"

Such a force had arrived, "Look!" shouted Pinkie.

The ponies turned and saw Queen Celestia and Grand Ruler land in front of them. The octopus roared at them.

"We are here to help." Celestia stated.

The ponies smiled with joy.

The octopus roared and swung it's tentacles at the royal ones launching, sharp, spinning blades at them.

Their majesties flew out of the way and blasted the octopus with their magic, however the octopus waved it's tentacles and deflected the attack! "No way!" Buddy cried. Their majesties were just as shocked. The octopus roared and charged at the ponies.

Meanwhile, Mykan, Jewel and Midnight continued following the crystals, until they came to a large clearing.

"Odd.. the crystals end right here." Mykan stated, "But where the staff?"

Midnight squinted his eyes and saw something sticking out from the ground in the middle of the clearing. "Hey, what's that?" he asked, pointing to the object.

Mykan and Jewel saw it as well. Just then, Jewel's horn began glowing again as well as the object. It magically floated out of the ground and over to Jewel.

"Woah." the boys whispered.

Jewel cautiously grabbed the object and she got a good look at it.

It was yellow with animal paw prints on it and five rainbow stones. The first one was red, second one was yellow, the third one was green, the fourth was blue and the fifth was purple. The top had an upside down crescent under an glowing orb.

Jewel knew exactly what it was, "The Staff of Animal Spirits! We've found it!" Jewel cried. Suddenly, the stones each appeared with a different symbol; Lightning, Grass, Water, Earth and Fire.

Then nine cards appeared in Jewel’s hand as well. The colors matched the stones.

The stones then floated over the gems and magically merged together. The boys were amazed and excited at the same time.

"Alright!" Mykan added.

"Sweet!" Midnight added. Their celebration was cut short when Mykan spotted one of Krysta’a fairy soldiers rushing towards them. "Major Jewel, Mykan! There's trouble in United Equestria!" it stated.

"What's wrong?" Jewel asked.

“One of Sombra and Chrysalis monster is attacking the gang and they need your help.” the fairy soldier replied.

“Right, let’s go!” Mykan stated. “I’m coming too.” Midnight agreed.

The fairy soldier warped all of them to New Ponyville and immediately saw the danger.

The friends were in big trouble! The octopus now had all the ponies in it’s tentacles, including their majesties!

Lightning, the girls and their friends super armor suits were gone, meaning they’ve taken too much damage from the beast.

“Not good,” Midnight said, “We’ve got to help them.”

Mykan agreed and rushed towards the octopus, shouting, “HEY..!!” Mykan called.

The octopus and the ponies saw the trio. “Mykan! Jewel!” Pinkie cried.

“SAVE US..!!!” Rarity screeched.

Mykan draw his sword and leaped at the octopus. It launched it's shuriken blades at him. He dodged them all and slashed the octopus on the head. In retaliation, it swung its tentacles that had their majesties in it.

“Okay. Now that’s cheating!” Midnight called.

“WOAH! WOAH! WOOOOOAAAAHHHH!!” their majesties cried. One of the swings hit Mykan, sending him to the ground.

“Mykan!” Jewel cried.

Jewel rushed over to Mykan and helped him to his feet, "Are you okay?"

"Yes. I'm good." he groaned

The octopus blasted multiple mud bombs at the two. Jewel stood in front of Mykan and created a powerful shield around them both. The octopus was furious! Jewel dropped the shield, thinking desperately about how she can save her friends and defeat the octopus at the same time. "Oooooh, what do I do now?”

Suddenly, the Lightning Stone in the staff began to glow as well as the card. Looking between the two, Jewel knew what she had to do.

The octopus roared violently with the ponies struggling to break free. Their majesties, Rarity and Starla blasted the beast with their magic, but like before, it had little effect.

“Agh… it’s no use! We’re goners!” Pinkie cried.

“HEY..!!” The ponies and octopus looked down to see Jewel standing in front of it.

“Jewel..!!! No…!!” Lightning cried, “It’s too strong!” Starla added.

Jewel held the staff and the card. It glowed bright yellow and Jewel slashed the card over the stone and exclaimed,

"STARFLEET SLASH! PENTACERATOPS, CHARGE!

The card changed into dinosaur that was twenty feet long and it wasn’t yellow with brow marking all over its body. It had long horns and a small nose horn as well.

Pentaceratops roared.

The ponies, even their majesties were completely shocked and amazed.

"Incredible!" cried Grand Ruler.

"Cool!" added Lightning. Pentaceratops charged the octopus and rammed its horns and lifted its head, actually lifting the creature off of the ground and flying through the air.

The octopus landed with a "THUD"

"Pentaceratops," Jewel called, "you got to free my friends. Hurry!"

Pentaceratops roared and charged the octopus again. It bit down on four of its tentacles. It roared in pain and left go of their majesties and the girls. Midnight quickly flew in and caught Fluttershy and Rarity.

"Thanks." Fluttershy said. Midnight nodded and flew them to safety.

Pentaceratops constantly rammed the octopus, causing it to let go of Lightning and his unit. They all dashed to safety and watched the battle.

"Look at it go!" Buddy cried.

"It's amazing!" Dyno cried.

“Si, very powerful!” added Myte.

Even their majesties were surprised by the power of this creature. Jewel was watching, trying find a way to end this battle once and for all.

“I’ve got to end this and fast, but how?” Just then, seven sets of seven cards appeared in front of her; each belonging to each element.

Jewel took one of the lightning move cards and swiped it saying, ”ELECTRIC CHARGE!”

Clouds began to form above Pentaceratops and lightning hit it, entering its body and charging up. Pentaceratops roared and everybody gasped in awe. The octopus nervously roared and Pentaceratops charged full force into the creature, tossing it up into the air.

It landed on the ground hard and exploded. It turned back into a normal octopus which scurried away into the nearby river.

“Awesome! They did it!” Rainbow cried. Pentaceratops roared in victory.

After that everybody went to the lab and Professor Brain examines the stones inside the staff. What he found astounded him and the lab ponies.

“Incredible!” he cried, “these stones have the life essence of all the dinosaurs that ever lived!”

“So when Jewel slashed the cards with the right stone, they were activated?” Lightning asked. “Yes, but there is another way. When a dinosaur card comes in contact with one of elements like a flame or even a bush, the card will also activate.” Brain explained.

The ponies exchanged looks of awe and wonder at each other, “Looks like your staff has it’s own animal powers now.” Rainbow states, nudging Jewel.

Jewel smiled embarrassed.

“Well done Jewel and Mykan, now with this item we have an advantage in this war.” Grand Ruler stated.

“And we have a new kirin friend.” Lightning added.

Midnight smiled.

In our next episode...

A boastfulness unicorn named Sizzle comes to New Ponyville and the ponies look for Jewel to help. However, she fears that her friends will not like her anymore after seeing how others thought of Sizzle.

Will Jewel overcome her doubt to beat the unicorn?
