Ch. 1: Loving Days and Terrifying Nights
Celestia’s sun was over Golden Red Orchard, birds were nestling in the apple trees, tiny little worker bees were collecting their honey, other ponies tending the apples, getting ready for harvest.
What I was doing? Normally I would help around the farm, helping like the rest, but I wasn’t. No, instead I was clashing makeshift swords with, Solar Wing, my coltfriend.
“Hey, you almost got my face!” Solar Wing snapped at me when I jabbed the sword at him. His golden coat shimmered underneath the late afternoon sun from sweat, his dark blue mane clinging to his muzzle - one I kept insisting him to get it trimmed.
“When you get accepted into Celestia's Royal Guards, if you actually have to go into battle with warring countries-” Let's face it, the royal guards aren’t the best. I bust into the castle in my fillyhood to steal a cup out of a dare and didn’t get caught (though when my father, who was then a royal guard and now was an apple farmer ((don’t ask why or how, it just happened)), learned about the theft and jumped all in my flank), needless to say, they are… kinda lame. “-the other ponies or other creatures you’ll face won’t care about that pretty face.” I grinned, holding my wooden sword up between my fore hooves, standing on my hind ones, using my turquoise wings to keep me balanced.
Not to mention that my father had taught me how to use a sword.
Solar Wing used the back of his hoof to push his mane out of his eyes and got into the same position before charging at me with a shout.
We fought around for a while, wood clashed against wood, shouts shouting across the orchard, either curses or grunts from our swings. Performing some sort of elegant dance, one that had but continually done since we were children in preschool, fighting over who gets the sandbox first. So us fighting as practice for Solar Wing’s test for the Celestial Day guards was nothing.
Knowing each other’s movements, anticipating each step both of us took in order to block and counter. It usually gets really physical but that’s the point when training, you’re gonna get bumps, bruises and welts from each other. That’s why we are using wood instead of actual steel, so none of us would get actual hurt to the point we needed to go to the hospital.
Solar and I ended up spinning around each other to the point we both made a mini tornado. Apples from the trees nearby blew off, my black cowcolt hat blew away somewhere in the mess. Our wooden swords were even flung out of our hooves. We spun and spun until Solar ended up pouncing me onto the ground, straddled across my waist and pinned my hooves above my head. I grunted when my wings were pinned by my back and I could spread my wings out.
“Hah, I…. win.” He said breathlessly.
I couldn’t help but smirked at that response. “Yeah… you did.” My breath was heavy, looking at him with bright baby eyes of mine, staring into his rich violet eyes. “Well, what are you waiting for, come claim your prize.”
With a lazy coltish grinned. “Well, don’t mind if I do.” He mimics my southern accent. And before I could call him out, he leans his head down and claimed my lips. It didn’t take long before his scent of oranges, hard work and mint filled my senses and I succumbed into the fire rumbling the both of us.
***
After fooling around for another few hours and hiding from my father and his gun, the both of us were laying on a grey cloud high in Luna’s sapphire skies, both our bodies pressed against each other as we stared up at the stars.
We would joke around and make up what the constellations make.
“I see… an angry bunny pointing at us with a pointy carrot.” Solar Wing said, pointing his hoof up at the stars.
“Where?” I asked him, tilting my head.
Solar gently grabs my head and had it turned to look up where he was looking at. “There. You see? The bunny?”
I squinted my eyes before the shape of a bunny shown up and I grinned. “That’s no bunny, that’s Angel Bunny.”
Solar laughed. Angel Bunny’s a mean bunny.
I softly giggled before looking at a group of stars and pointed up. “I see a Chimera fighting a water monster.”
“I do see it!” Solar smiled triumphantly. He looked around at the sky before smiling. “I see a beautiful pegasus next to her lover.”
“Oh?” I looked around and didn’t see any of the sort. “Where?”
Solar Wing the reached over and boops me on the nose with his hoof. “Here.” A faint rosy blush filled my cheeks but chuckled. “What? I mean it.”
I kissed his cheek, “I know.” I whispered before looking back up. “I see… a captain of the royal guard.”
“Oh…” he murmured. His ears drooped slightly before sitting up.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, sitting up as well. Seeing his head down, something was wrong. “Soly?” I called him by his nickname.
“Nothing.” He muttered softly.
Pursing my lips, I gently nudged him with my hooves. “Babe, what’s the matter? Are you nervous?”
“Something like that,” He spoke oh so softly. he looked at him. “What if I don’t make it?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Cris-” a nickname he has for me. “-, what if I don’t make it into Celestia’s royal guards?” He asked me.
“You can try out for Luna’s night guard, granted you’ll be the only daypony around with a bunch of bat ponies.” I said in response.
“And if I don’t make it?” he then asked.
“You can try Princess Cadence’s guards - still you’ll be the only one not crystallized. If you fail, you can try Princess Twilight’s. Celestia knows that princess doesn’t have a single guard there.” I said in response as well.
“If I don’t make it at all?”
“Babe, why are you asking me this? I can’t predicted the future like Princess Sunbutt.” Oh Celestia, if you heard that, don’t hate me! I meant it as a joke.
“If I don’t make it… will you still be with me?” He sullenly asked. His face serious with a hint of hope.
I smiled softly. “Soly, I’ll always be with you. If you don’t make it, we’ll figure out something else. I’ve been with you since we were kids, I’m not going to dump you because you didn’t get in.”
“Yeah…” He chuckled softly before looking down at his cutie mark. A shield with a heart and lightning bolt combined together. “It’ll suck if I didn’t. My cutie mark wouldn’t match any of the other jobs. Unlike yours with a sword and all.” He got his by protecting me from a tree.
I frowned and looked down at mine. The cutie mark had three things combined together: a crystal heart with pegasus wings spread wide with a pencil going through it. Though at first glance it did looked like a sword but it wasn’t. I got my cutie mark because of the love of flying and drawing.
I just happened to be good at sword fighting because of my father teaching me.
“Not a sword, and you know this.” I grunted.
He smiled softly. “You know you’re cute when you get worked up right?”
Tempting to hit him was mighty fine high if he wasn’t giving me that cute look.
He reaches over with his wing and pushed my tricolor hair away from my face. Color of purple that fades into pink and to crimson red. When I was born I had a full head of red hair but as the years went by, the purple and pink appeared.
He then asked a strange question.”Will you sing me a song?”
I didn’t mean to laugh, it was an odd question. I wasn’t a singer. I sang karaoke with my mare-friends and colt-friend - no I don’t have another mate, he just happened to be a friend who was a colt, and he’s gay btw - Dancer, Prancer, and Jetfire but that’s about it. Now I would get bored of drawing and jot down some lyrics.
“I’ve seen you write a song in your sketchbook. Lemme hear one.” He said. “Please?”
I sighed. He’ll just continue to pester if I don’t give in. “But I just have the chorus.”
“Psh, I don’t care. I wanna hear it.” He said. “Plllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?!?!?!” he whined.
My wing feathers plugged up my ears from his insatiable whining. “Okay okay!”
“Yippy.” He lays on his stomach with his head propped up on his hooves in waiting. “I bet it’s a goodie.”
I rolled my eyes and thought back to my sketchbook and remembered what I wrote before clearing my throat.
The song I sang wasn't much, just eight lines that was meant to be part of a chorus. It was about standing against the world, a world that wasn't what we want it to be, but we couldn't help but dream of a better place.
Solar then sat up at the end and clapped his hooves hard like he just heard the greatest song in all of Equestria. “Woo! Encore, encore!”
I hid my face behind my wing. Singing songs other ponies made was different than singing my own song. I’m not the kind of filly that would suddenly start singing like every pony here. I’ve seen Solar Wing sing but not me.
“Babe, you did amazing!” He said before scooping me into his arms and hugged me tightly. “Just one question? What in Equestria is a hand?”
I shrugged. “I dunno. All I know that it just rhymes.” I then smiled. “I was on this cloud when I wrote it. It just came out to me when I saw a shooting star.”
He kissed my muzzle and smiled tenderly. “Well, I like it.”
Gosh darnit, the way he looks at me with those soul crushing eyes ignited the fire inside of my stomach again. Making me wanna love on him on this cloud.
Apparently, Solar Wing had the same thought as well. He held me in his arms and kissed me once again deeply and passionately.
A hoof of mine going through his mane as I brought myself closer to him, shifting positions to where I was straddled across his lap.
Just as a moan escaped from my lips from his tongue sweeping across my teeth, an annoying screeching sound instantly broke the mood.
Damnit, a vampire fruit bat escaped from the sanctuary. We had an enclosed dome-like fence surrounded a small portion of the orchard. The vampire fruit bats had raided my family farm like a plague. I asked Applejack when she and her friends were in Canterlot on what to do with those vermin.
Both she and Fluttershy both said in unison to make a sanctuary for the critters.
“I thought your old man was gonna fix that hole?” Solar Wing asked with a snarl having the mood broken.
Because he knows that if one got out, more would do the same and the orchard was toast. My dad said he was going to get it fixed but he hasn’t gotten around to do so.
And he knows I was going to lead that bat back.
“I gotta go.” I told him before taking off flying off the cloud. It was seconds later before Solar ended up flying right next to me.
“I’m coming with you.” He said. “I’ll get the net, you find that bat.”
I nodded before we split up.
I kept my ears peered as I flew across the orchard. Waiting for a sound of the bat to echo loudly. Looking down below, you can definitely tell the difference on how the day and night make the orchard. By day, you can see all the leaves, all the colors of green and yellow as the seasons was changing to autumn, making it pretty looking. When night engulfs the orchard, it looked something out of a horror novel. The darkness engulfing the trees, a chilling mist covered the ground. Only the light of the moon gives off was the only light I get. I didn’t went to the stables to get a flashlight.
My imagination tends to trick me when I walk around in the dark. Seeing the shadows move, creating imaginary monsters that scares me. But I can’t let my imaginating scare me, there wasn’t any danger out there. Just a pesky escaped bat who’s eating the wrong apples.
I wandered around for a bit before I heard the bat screeching once more. I zoomed through the orchard, following the lead.
It gotten louder and louder until I found the source coming from a youngling tree.
This bat was not going to take this tree’s life. I braced my forehooves on the bark of the tree and shook it twice.
“Hey! we made a deal bat!” I snapped at it. “You and your buddies stay in your spot. Not sneaking off and eating the rest of my family income.”
The only answer I gotten was a hiss and a stick thrown at me. It missed and landed behind me but it still got me angry.
I rocked the tree a bit, the tiny leaves rained down upon me. It hissed again, it was a deep hiss. It was a warning.
One I should’ve listened. I should’ve just left this tree alone and be on my way. But, being as stubborn as me, I wanted this damn bat out of my tree and back into its enclosure.
I got down from the tree with a grumble. “Wanna play huh?” I turned around and used my back legs and sharply bucked it. A fruit bat frantically fled out and flew towards the direction of the sanctuary. I still saw something in the tree, at first I thought it was another bat.
Something like that...
The next thing I heard made my blood ran cold.
“You want me down?”
Bats don’t talk! Unless it was bat ponies but they don’t go this far from the castle or interact with other ponies from the daytime!
I turned around with widened eyes. The voice was clearly male, it was deep… And he purred. I looked up and saw a pair of glowing red eyes staring right at me. His pupils were of that of a cat, slitted.
The next moments became the most terrifying moment of my life. Without a warning, the creature shot out from the tree and pounced at me.
We rolled onto the grass floor before I was lying on my back with windless gasp. Before my mind tried to tell my body to freaking get up and fly, my whole body was engulfed in this intensed blood red crimson aura and I ended up unable to move.
What?!?
Suddenly my body was levitated upright, my wings forceable flung opened wide and I was slammed against a tree. A cry of pain escaped from my lips but it was suddenly cut off when I saw my attacker.
Oh fuck!
The light of the moonlight revealed who he was. He was tall, well built, his coat was white but it had scars alongside his neck, chest and one going across the bridge of his muzzle and down the right side of his face. His mane and tail were short, raven black with indigo and purple streaked. Even with the scars he was handsome. What got me speechless was his horn, curved and no details, engulfed by the matching red aura, fangs protruding from his mouth…
And the large white bat wings flared out.
There was no way, I haven’t heard a stallion getting both wings and a horn. There wasn’t any male alicorns. And yet, there he was. He was a bat alicorn!
I couldn’t say anything, I was too surprised and scared at the same time when the bat stalked towards me. Eyes locked onto mine. Hungry and predator.
My breath heightened when he stopped in front of me, standing on his hind hooves and put one hoof above my head and the other gently stroking my jaw in a sensational manner. He smelled of Jasmine and the ocean sea.
“You interrupted my breakfast, Little Filly,” He purred softly. “I don’t like having my meals interrupted by nosy ponies.” The hoof trailed down from my jaw, circling across my stomach. A whimper escaped from me and that just widened his cold grin.
Why can’t I shout for help! Solar Wing wasn’t far from me. He’d be down here in seconds, but nothing came out.
When the bat’s hoof gently grazed my left wing, pushing through the sensitive feathers, that alone actually cause me to moan. Pegasi wings, no matter if your female or male, they are sensitive to the touch.
“Don’t worry, I won’t kill you,” his eyes trailed along my body before fixated at my face. My scared quivering lips more importantly. “I just need...a quick bite.”
His lips then collided with mine and I stiffened in place. Forcibly forcing his tongue into my mouth, roughly scrapping my teeth.
I thrashed around, trying to break away but this wave of calmness suddenly washed over me. Moments ago, my body was reacting in fear, but now it… It was reacting differently. I was reacting differently. This sense of longing, lust swept over me like a tidal wave and…
And I ended up giving myself to him and returned his kiss. In that moment, forgetting about Solar Wing, forgetting where I was at and whom I was with. In that moment, it was only the two of us. I didn’t know his name and yet I wanted him. I craved for him, yearning for more of his touch. My body begging more.
The bat alicorn removed himself from my mouth and started nibbling along my jawline, causing my eyes to flutter shut, breathing heavily.
He then trailed his tongue down to the crook of my neck, where my neck and shoulder meet, his teeth grazing against my flesh, causing me to moan loudly, crossing my thigh, already feeling heated. I extended my neck to have him get more ground.
I felt pressure latching onto my neck, it caused me to cry out but not in pain, but in pleasure. His body pressed against mine, no doubt he could feel me tremble underneath him.
Oh sweet Celestia, I actually felt like I was in heaven. I’d never felt anything like this before. Not even with Solar Wing could ever made me feel like this, not even if he could try.
As I continued to be in a state of euphoria, a shout in the orchard echoed loudly.
“Crimson! Babe where are you?” It was Solar Wing. And judging by the sound of him, he was close.
That was enough to snap me out in the lustful trance.
And that’s when I felt the pain on my neck and the feel of the bat drinking out of my neck!
I let out a loud scream, hoping it was enough to get Solar Wing’s butt over here!
The sound made the bat let go of me altogether and let up from my neck and stepped away from me. The red aura disappeared and I collapsed onto the ground with a shout, a hoof pressed against my bleeding neck as I looked up at the bat.
His muzzle stained red, the blood dripping. His eyes looking at me with interest. “Strange… no pony has ever broken out of my trance..” he muttered.
“Crimson! hold on baby, I’m coming!” Solar Wing shouted.
The white alicorn looked over his shoulder and grunted before looking back at me. “May this be a warning, Little Filly. Next time I see you… I won’t be so merciful.” He growled before teleporting out of my sight. But my ears heard his huge wings flapping away in the distance.
I lay there motionlessly, I didn’t know what just happened. I lied on the ground while my neck bled, that stallion’s essence lingering.
