Nightmare Night (part 1)

I slip on all except one part of my costume. With meticulous work, and fond memories, I finally got the grey the right color, and the spikes the right length. On the inside, my armor was cardboard and other such materials. Outside was coated in a thin metal, knowing it would change to mithral when I transform. Now, I haven’t tested it, but I’m sure it will look awesome.

I reach for my ‘mace’, and strap it onto my back. Of course, my ‘mace’ is just a auto extending umbrella painted grey with some spikes on it. Why an auto extending umbrella? Because those things look cool, and block out the rain as they are still compactable. I look down at my ring, and make sure the both of them were not glowing yet. They should only glow when I transform, and it should look beautiful.

I placed the helmet over my head, and take a step out of my room. I see the Doctor there, painted a dark grey color, switched out his green bow tie for a black one, somehow made his eyes be shaded and smaller. He’s also strapped toe wings of the same grey to himself, and made his hourglass mark become broken looking. Overall he made himself look darker, and more melancholy in gerneal, and he definitely looks like he could be a villain like that. So, a pretty good costume.

His sinister frown he wears like a well made mask returns to his normal grin as he looks me over, “Very nice, good character, lovely story he’s from, you even got the grey right!”

I smile under my helmet as I look at him as well, “I don’t really recognize what your going as.”

He laughs a bit, before shruging it off, “Oh, the idea just came into my head about a week ago. It took a lot of preparation, but nothing I’m not used to.”

I nod, “It looks very good, very well made. It actually seems like you have changed into something else, if not for that smile of yours.”

He try’s to look down at his muscle for a while, before giving it up, “Dang, got to make sure I keep that frown! It falls apart if I don’t do that!”

I shrug back as an awnser, “Maybe it would be a little too real if not for that smile.”

He shrugs as well, “So, out the door, and into the frey?”

I nod, “Yes, into the frey.”

*knock, knock, knock!*

I walk over to the door and open it. Standing there are three kids all with baskets in their mouth and eyes closed, “Nightmare Night, such a fright, give us something sweet to bite!”

Then Doctor walks over, “Well kids, I do apologize heavily, but I do not have any. We planned to walk around the town, so we don’t have any candy. I do apologize if your disappointed, after all, it wouldn’t be the first time...” I can feel his voice shift in that last line as he switches to his character.

The kids finally open their eyes, and get greeted by the sight of me. Beginning at my feet, they draw their eyes up until they see my helmet. Then they run off screaming, “Ahhh!”

I close the door, and smile, “Ah, it’s fun to get into that Halloween spirit!”

Doctor continues to look out the window as they run, “Are you sure they are fine?” He asks with a hint of concern.

I look out as well, “Doctor, they’re laughing. That’s the whole Halloween spirit!”

Doctor takes a closer look, and then sees they are in fact laughing, “Well, that’s a relief.” With a smile and a nod, he opens the door, “Come along Kendrick, there is a costume contest, and I believe you might just win!”
