Can't fix love
Chapter 2 Do dreams come true?
Previous ChapterNext ChapterOpen book sighed as she sold another book to another customer. It had been about two days since she had opened up her store. And, her business wasn't doing too bad. Using her magic she opened a drawer and set a large black book in front of her. She opened it to the fifth page and wrote down the name of the book she sold; she had a proud smile stretch across her face. Over the course of three days she had successfully sold one-hundred and nineteen books.
“I told them I could do it,” She said to herself as she put away the book, “I told them I could do it.” She finished just as the dinging of her bell echoed through her shop.
“Greetings,” Open book welcome as she turned to look at the entrance, “Welcome to.” She fell completely silent when she saw who was in her shop.
It was Spike; her very first customer and true love. Her heart fluttered a little in her chest when he smiled at her. She saw him slowly walking up to her desk; shooting her a very seductive stare. When he reached her desk he started to move his head closer to hers. The heat from his warm breaths moved across her face like a warm breeze. His lips inching closer and closer to hers; until they finally.
“Open book!” Spike called for the third time.
Open book quickly shook herself out of her daydream and focused on the real Spike in front of her. He had a worried look on his face which touched her heart a little. She also could feel blood rushing to her face. Which made her pray to Celestia that he wouldn't notice her blushing.
“Uh, yeah, yes, Spike.” She answered as she tried to rapidly collect her thoughts.
“You okay?” He asked.
Now she could feel her blush getting more intense, “Yes,” She answered with a quiet sigh, “I was just thinking about something.” She lied.
Spike just nodded his head in response, “Okay, well, I came by to thank you for the book.” He thanked with a smile.
“And, you are very welcome Spike.” She replied with a smile of her own.
“I was wondering; you wouldn't happen to have the latest edition of the Daring Doo books?” He asked.
“Yes,” She answered while walking out from behind her desk. She then walked towards one of the many unopened boxes in the back of her shop. She searched for a good while until she finally found the book, “Here it is!” She said happily as she walked back to the desk with the book in her magical hold, “Will this be all for you?” She asked; slightly hoping that it wasn't.
“Yes,” He answered which caused her to frown on the inside, “Um, pardon me miss Book. But, do you run this shop on your own?” He asked.
She released a tired sigh, “Unfortunately.” She answered.
“Um,” He started while rubbing the back of his head, “Do you need some help around the shop?” He asked.
“What?” She replied in a voice filled with shock.
“Do you need help around the shop?” He asked again with a smile, “I've worked and helped Twilight in her own library. So, I'm pretty much trained and you won't have to worry about searching for any books that haven't been shelved.” He finished.
Okay, now Open Book swore she was dreaming. She was so tempted to pinch herself to see if she was dreaming. But, at the same time she really hoped it was not a dream. “You're hired,” She immediately said with much happiness in her voice, “Shop opens tomorrow at seven.” She finished.
“I'll be here.” He replied before walking out of the book store.
Open Book had to fight to keep herself from screaming in delight. With him working for her now; she would without a doubt have no trouble winning his heart. After all he had won hers. She was about to start daydreaming again. But, the sound of the bell brought her back to reality. With a heavy sigh she turned to help the pony who had walked in.
“Hello,” She began to greet, “How may I help you today?” She asked.
Spike had a proud smile stretched across his face. Not only did he possibly made somepony's day, but, he also got a new job. It wasn't that he didn't like working for Twilight. But, really he needed a change of scenery, so, working in a small bookstore was a much needed change of pace for him. He then heard a small giggle come from behind him. Turning around he saw a light blue earth pony mare with a matching mane and tail. He could barely see the blush on her face because she was practically hiding behind her entire mane.
“Hello?” Spike greeted kindly.
“Hi,” She replied in a barely audible voice, “I'm Wavebreaker.” She introduced herself.
“Spike.” He replied while also introducing himself.
She gave another giggle, “Are you busy tomorrow?” She asked.
He nodded, “Yes, I'll be working at the new bookstore early in the morning.” He answered.
“How about the afternoon?” She asked.
“I'm free. But.” He was interrupted by her releasing a small squeal of delight.
“Would you like to go out with me tomorrow?” She asked happily.
Spike sighed heavily, “I'm flattered that you find me that attractive,” He began with caused the mares smile to slowly fade away, “But, I already have a boyfriend.” He finished.
The mare sighed sadly and began to walk away. He swore he could see some tears falling from her face and to the ground. He hated when something like this would happen. Last week another mare had asked him if he was available. When he revealed that he already had a boyfriend; she walked in tears. Only to come back later with a few of her friends; swearing that they could fix him. That is why he is thankful for restraining orders and being the assistant to one princess, and, adopted son of another. He shuddered a little as he remembered what they had tried to do.
A loud burp suddenly escaped him; from his maw flew a small amount of sparks. Which formed into a scroll. He grabbed the scroll before it fell to the ground and opened it. A happy smile stretched across his face and a happy sigh escaped from him. It was a letter from Thorax. It said the usual how he missed him so much. How the bed felt so cold without him laying next to him. And, how he longed to see him again.
Rolling up the scroll he started to quickly make his way back home. He was eager to respond to the letter. He wanted to tell him what has happened so far. How he got a new job. How Rainbow dash got her head stuck in the clouds, literally. How was she supposed to know a couple of runaway snow-clouds had drifted over Ponyville. The hardest part was trying to dig her out of the clouds upside-down. Then their was the time Fluttershy's bear friend got his head stuck in a honey pot. Somehow wander into a dress shop in Ponyville and got red shirt stuck on him. Only to end up in a paint shop; covered from head to toe in yellow paint.
“Why do I have a feeling someone wanted me to see something they did there?” He asked himself, “And why do I feel like I just broke four different walls?” He continued as he scratched his head.
“You'll get used to it!” The voice from Pinkie suddenly shouted.
Spike almost went a foot in the air when he heard his friend Pinkie pie shout, “She has got to train me to gain super hearing like that. I mean that is impressive.” He commented her.
“Thank you!” Pinkie shouted back.
