Epilogue:Being Watched

Previous Chapter

Celestia awoke from a otherwise peaceful slumber. She did not know the reason why, just woke up. For a while she stared out the window, admiring Luna's stars. She took her spare time to wonder to herself, who was the Entity? Were they once a pony, who gotten too deep in the magical arts and trapped himself within a self-created pocket dimension? Did someone call it forth, forcing it to play the same game over and over with not only her, but her citizens? Or was it not a pony, but a unfortunate soul who's bound in the body of a beast beyond comprehension?

Celestia had never gotten the true name of the Entity. In fact, the Entity always refrained from bringing up the past, as if trying to run away from memories he himself isn't fond of. Which only brought up more questions than answers.

Celestia sighed in frustration, attempting to bring herself to sleep. She didn't plan on visiting him, she had long since felt no need to. She knew the Entity was mysterious, and most likely intends it to be that way. But one thing she knew for certain, was that despite is uncaring demeanor, the Entity tries his best to keep it fair for his victims. She knew he could easily make it so that the realm was unplayable as a survivor, as a easy way of getting food. Yet despite this, he'd still give them the opportunity to escape.

Celestia didn't know if there was a pony in there, and she didn't care. All she could hope was for one day, the Entity will finally let down his guard, and show his true self, so that one day Celestia may finally be able to see if he's able to be saved.

But until then... She thought to herself. I can only hope Luna will finally get him to crack.

Eventually, sleep came to embrace her, and she did as well in kind. Just as she was about to finally fall asleep, Celestia saw a crow standing on the window-sill, looking at her with it's one eye with a unnatural, and alien grin.

She awoke with a jolt of fear, staring down the window-sill, which unfortunately caused the crow to fly away. Heart beating, she moved to the window-sill, finding a note on it.

I know of your plans.

Did you really think, after all these centuries, that I wouldn't meet the destined one? That I wouldn't have detected Luna trying to pry into my secrets? That you could finally put an end to the devil himself?

I have, and will always remain a mystery Celestia. The souls of everything will inevitably may come to me. You may make your citizens think that Tartarus is the true afterlife for only bad ponies, but in the end, they, and those who did nothing to earn or live, will all be consumed. Sombra and Chrysalis have already been consumed, if you were thinking that I've left your foes alone.

Don't try this again. I may not devour gods or demigods out of fear, but that doesn't mean I can when my back is against the wall. Especially since I know you're weaker than me... prey.
