Confession

Fluttershy had to admit, taking care of a legendary beast was far from easy. Godzilla ran around the cottage, chasing after the chickens, bunnies, and other critters under the yellow pegasus’ care. Fluttershy had to chase him around and keep him from hurting anyone. The little saurian had also made a big mess out of the kitchen and bathrooms by strewing food and paper everywhere. Of course, Godzilla doesn’t mean to hurt the other animals. He doesn’t know how to properly play with anything smaller than him. Godzilla ran after Angel excitedly, unable to comprehend why the bunny didn’t want to play with him. He managed to catch the frightened bunny, holding him by the ears with his jaws and turning to walk off someplace else.

“No, we do not eat bunnies!” Fluttershy said, picking Godzilla up and carefully releasing Angel from the little reptile’s grasp. After he was placed back on the floor, Godzilla noticed a plush carrot toy and popped it in his mouth, attempting to swallow the fuzzy object. He barfed it out immediately after, discovering toys did not taste very good. Fluttershy sighed as she sat on a chair, watching the infant continue explore her home. She exhaustedly watched as Godzilla tried dragging a chair towards the living room. For such a tiny and adorable baby Gojirasaur, Godzilla was a pretty big troublemaker. Fluttershy felt the corners of her mouth rising, smiling as she realized Godzilla’s antics reminded her of how Angel acted when he was young. Suddenly, she heard a knock on her door. She trotted over and opened the door, her eyes widening at the sight of Twilight and Celestia waiting at her doorstep.

“Twilight and... Princess Celestia? Please, come in.” Fluttershy said, moving to the side as the two ponies entered her cottage.

“Hello, Fluttershy. It’s not everyday that I come to visit your lovely home.” Celestia said with a chuckle. “Twilight told me about the hatchling. May I see him?”

“Why, sure.” Fluttershy said, leading Twilight and Celestia to her living room. Godzilla was busy figuring out how to climb on the same chair he tried to eat. He tried jumping on it, but he slipped off the seat seconds after. He turned around noticing Celestia and Twilight looking at him. Celestia approached the infant, a soft chuckle escaping her lips as Godzilla began nibbling on her left arm.

“This infant is too precious.” Celestia cooed as she gently stroked Godzilla’s back. His dorsal plates were tiny, undeveloped, rugged bumps that made it feel like stroking his back was equivalent to stroking a rough-edged rock.

“Fluttershy, we found Godzilla’s parents.” Twilight said. Fluttershy looked at her friend in surprise.

“Really? That’s wonderful! Then let’s figure out where they’re heading so we can reunite them with Godzilla.” Fluttershy said, hope in her voice. Twilight’s ears flopped over both sides of her head as she bore a expression of dismay.

“That’s the bad news.... We can’t reunite him...” Twilight said. Fluttershy’s smile disappeared as quick as it appeared.

“What? W-Why...?” Fluttershy asked.

“His parents.... are dead. We came across their corpses during our exploration. Something must have killed them.” Twilight answered. Fluttershy let out a soft gasp that was followed by a whimper. Fluttershy felt the sting of tears at the edge of her eyes, trying so hard to choke back sobs. But it was futile.

“Why would.... anyone do something horrible? I... know it’s part of nature.... but... I can’t believe... Godzilla won’t know how it’s like.... to live with his parents...!” Fluttershy sobbed. Celestia, who was now holding Godzilla in her arms, approached Fluttershy.

“Fluttershy, it is heart-breaking to say the least. But Twilight believed you’re the right pony to care for the orphan. I, too, believe that. Therefore, it is best that ‘Godzilla’ remains under your care, where nothing can bring it harm.” Celestia said, handing Godzilla over to Fluttershy. The yellow pegasus wiped away a tear as she hugged the little reptile in a motherly fashion.

“I’ll do my best to properly raise him, princess.” Fluttershy said.

“I know you will. Now, I must return to Canterlot. I’m going to research more about Godzilla’s species and see what we are dealing with. Until then, I bid you both farewell.” Celestia said, walking out of the cottage.

“I’m going to head home and do my own research. If you need help you can always stop by the castle.” Twilight said, waving a goodbye as she departed. Fluttershy nuzzled Godzilla’s snout as she headed for the kitchen.

“I bet you’re hungry, aren’t you?” Fluttershy asked with a warm smile.
