"Alright, it's finished!" Twilight cheered.

She levitated the last piece of hardware onto the small circuit board that dotted the portal. Stepping back, she admired the beauty of her design. It was a large portal, black around the edges with a blue inside, along with a small control center on the side. It truly was a work of art.

"I don't know, Twilight," Rainbow Dash rubbed her hoof," it seems a little...unstable."

Just then, a spark of energy flew out of the portal and right over Rainbow's head. It hit the wall behind her with a loud zap. The cyan mare simply motioned to the wall.

"Oh, don't worry. That only happens every other minute!" Twilight stated. "Besides, it won't blow up, if that's what you're asking."

Just then, another pony came down the stairs. Applejack took one look at the large machine and sighed loudly.

"Why do ah even bother?"

Trotting up to the others, Twilight began her explanation.

"Okay, as you know, I called you all here for a reason. Since Pinkie, Fluttershy and Rarity couldn't make it, I'll have to use you two."

The two gave each other a look, and they both sighed at the same time.

"What's the portal thingy for, it Isn't the Magic Mirror, is it?" Rainbow gave Twilight a look of disappointment.

Twilight simply giggled, "No, this is different. See, Princess Celestia gave me a special assignment. This is it!"

Rainbow and Applejack both gave the portal another once over, trying to figure out what the catch was.

"Celestia wanted me and everypony else to go into it, document what we find, and come back withing five minutes. Simple really." Twilight was even more giddy than normal.

After a few minutes of arguing, Twilight convinced them to come with her. It was simple, they were going to arrive in an unknown location, not harmful, but somewhere in a new universe. The Princesses took every precaution available, and she assured nothing bad would happen. Or so she hoped.

Stepping up to the platform, Twilight put one hoof into the portal. When nothing happened, she disappeared fully into the portal. Rainbow Dash and Applejack gave each other a look of concern, but they both entered the portal as well. Not seconds after they were gone, the machine suddenly vanished from sight.

The only thing left in the room was what remained of Twilight's lab, no portal to be found.

I've had this idea for a very long time, but I could never get my writing skills down to actually make something good. I'm going to try my best, and hope it works out.

Some quick things about the story.

1. This first part is probably going to be the only instance of one whole chapter being third person. I'll mainly be doing things from Rick's perspective, but it'll change as I introduce the characters we all know and love.

2. It may take a while for me to get chapters out, seeing as I'll have to go through each episode and see what happens to remember what happens here, and what happens there.

3. I don't know how long this story will be, but I'll keep going until I run out patience for it. That, or I just get told to quit, either or.
