I smiled, finding what Shane said funny.

"That vase...that vase is something special. Fess up, where'd you steal it from? You're Mama Jean's house?"

I sat there for a few moments, not hearing any noise. I was a little confused, seeing as Shane was literally right there seconds ago. I look away from the ceiling, trying to find where he went. To my surprise, my friend was nowhere to be seen. Lifting my head up, I thought he could be in the bathroom.

"Shane, you in the John?"

Still no answer.

I was becoming more and more aware as time passed, and my side was starting to hurt a little bit. Brushing it off, I lay my head back, twisting it towards the table. I saw the vase Shane had, but something was wrong with it. It looked...decayed, like it had been there for months with no water. I lifted my hand towards one of the shriveled petals, taking it in my grasp. Twisting it around, it crumbled to the table, where more petals had fallen off.

Letting my hand fall back to my side, I look towards the clock. Again, I was surprised when the hands were frozen. The battery had ran out, and there was no way I could tell the time. I twisted back over, trying to get myself in a position to get up from the bed.

Once sat up, I grabbed the IV cart and stood myself up. I didn't even take a step before I fell to the cold, hard floor. I grunted in pain, rolling myself on my side.

"Nurse, help." I groan.

When I got no answer, I called again.

"Nurse, help!"

Once again, nothing but silence.

Grunting in pain, I ripped out my IV and stood myself up. I then limp over to the bathroom, slung the door open, and stepped inside, tearing off the blood pressure cuff.

The first thing I notice was my lack of care. My hair was grown out, and I had a pretty nice beard already. I stared at myself for a few moment, but then turned on the faucet on the sink. Luckily, a strong flow of water came out, and I lowered my head. I only then realized how thirsty I was, and I continued to drink and drink.

After having my fill, I turn off the water and step out of the bathroom. I didn't bother to close the door, and went straight over to the other door, which lead out of the room.

The large wooden door opened, and when I stepped out, my leg hit a hospital bed that blocked my door. I was confused as to why this was there, but I had a lot on my mind already.

'Where the hell is Shane? What the fuck is going on here?'

I stepped into the hallway and turned to my left. The ceiling was decayed, pieces were missing and wires were loose. Further on, more beds and chairs were strewn about, and papers and garbage were everywhere. I turn around, and notice a receptionist desk down the way.

I started limping down the hallway, and once I was there, I saw a phone on the counter. I picked it up, dialed 911, and put the phone to my ears. Sadly, I didn't hear anything. I grunted in annoyance and put the phone back. I then leaned over the counter, searching for anything that could be useful. I ended up finding a box of matches, which wasn't a bad find.

I took one out of the pack and lit it, hovering it over the rest of the desk. It went out before I could see anything else, so I tossed it to the ground and walked towards the hallway intersection. As I got closer to it, I looked to my right and saw a set of double doors. Upon getting closer, I was able to see into the hallway it lead into. I wish I hadn't.

There, was a woman. She was on the ground, with a large pool of blood around her body. The worst part was, her stomach was ripped open, intestines and organs visible. Her arms were stripped of skin, and she had a sad expression on her face. It was almost too much, and my eyes started watering. I back away from the door and go in the opposite direction.

While getting further down the hallway, it seemed to be even more decayed and destroyed. I glanced to the walls, noticing bullet holes and large amounts of blood splattered upon the surfaces. Even further in, a pair of doors were ripped off the hinges, and past that was large amounts of rubble and wires from the ceiling.

I walked through it, coming to a door that had a lock and a two by four in the handles. Wrote in large, black letters read.

'Don't Open, Dead Inside'

I was about to say something when the door started creaking open. As it opened further, I could hear a moan coming from behind it. The door was stopped by the wood in the handles, and because of that, I could hear more moans. The door started being pounded on violently, and a hand emerged from the crack.

It was rotten, the natural color of Human skin was now grey and dry. More and more hands started reaching through, along with even more and louder growls.

I was freaking out at this point, and I rushed through the doors to my left into a lobby. I saw a pair of elevators, and quickly pushed the buttons. Nothing happened, so I frantically looked for another means of escape. I noticed a door that had 'Fire Exit' on it, so I opened it and stepped into complete darkness.

When I shut the door, I could no longer see my hand in front of my face. Luckily, I had held on to the pack of matches, so I took one out and lit it. Even from the small amount of light, I could barely see anything. I slowly made my way down the staircase, having to go through a large number of matches before I hit the bottom.

With the last match, I saw a door that had 'Exit', so I dropped the now empty matchbox and opened the door. I was greeted by a bright light. So bright, I had to cover my eyes with my hand for a good bit. Eventually, my eyes adjusted to the sunlight, and I stepped outside.
