Chapter 1 Awakened

“ UUUG My head” I thought to myself as I came out of my foggy dream state.
I surveyed my surroundings to find myself in a compact, quiet, sterile room with adequate light. I was laying on a thin yet surprisingly comfortable cot, with a warm, soft blanket. I raised myself to get a better view of the room I was in; upon further inspection I’ve found that I was in a hospital like environment. “ Wow, Danial must have swung that bat really hard, I never thought he would put me in the hospital.” I raised my hands to my face to wipe off what remained of my hazy state, although something was way off. I attempted to wipe the goo from my eyes, but I nothing came from my hand; I couldn’t even feel my fingers. I opened my eyes to take a quick glance at my hand to try to see the source of the problem. The image that I received was not of what I expected, what I thought to be a hand had turned into a brown, pastel colored hoof. “Wait, WHAT THE HELL?!” I quickly turned my head to the other arm, only to be greeted with the same image. I began to panic, scrambling around in my bed to find some reflective surface for me to glance at a full image of myself. After a bunch of mindless kicking and screaming, I was able to locate a jewel encrusted hand mirror on the table at the side of my bed. I hastily reached for it with my two hoofs, trying my best to hold it while it slipped around in my hoofs. The image I found in the mirror was not one of reassurance; my image was of a blue-eyed horse with a rugged, black mane. Seeing this I immediately dropped the mirror I was inexplicably holding, and began to struggle out of the cot, only to be stop by a sharp sting to my back. I turned to inspect the reason for my damage; to my shock I saw a brown colored wing, wrapped in bloodstained gauze. “ OHH Great, as if this isn’t freaky enough!” My mindless panic was interrupted by a knock at the door; I prepared myself for the worse. In walked a blue colored unicorn dressed in a doctor’s uniform, I ignored the cuteness to keep my panic state.

“ Ahh your awake, surprising, I thought you’d be down for longer due to the severity of your accident. You must be a real fighter to be up and kicken after something like that, but none the less, you shouldn’t be out of bed.”

“What? Awake? Accident? What the hell happened, who are you, and why am I a horse?!

“ Well to start answering your questions, I am Dr.Heartfelt, I come from a long line of doctors, from my father to his father…”
I stopped him before he went into a big rant.

“ I don’t want your life story! I want to know what the hell happened to me!

“ Calm down son, your in the hospital, the young lady that brought you in told me that “you were in a race and you slammed right into a tree.”

“ That still doesn’t explain why I’m a horse instead of a human!”

“ Well apparently you probably have become to attached to the dream world, because humans haven’t been seen in Equestria for thousands of years, and the proper term is Pegasus, you are a Pegasus”

Hearing this caused me to collapse to the floor, “Great, not only am I never gonna see anyone I know again, I’m going to be stuck in a world with a bunch of talking horses and God knows what else.”

“ All of this aside, I think it would be best if you’d get back to bed, you are in no condition to be up and about.”

“ How can I sleep, I have no idea what happened, and I don’t even know how long I’ve been asleep already!”

“ Well let’s see, your friend brought you here on Tuesday, and today is what, Friday, so it was three days.”

“ There’s another thing, who is this so called friend you keep mentioning?”

“ I think I remember her calling herself a miss Rainbow Dash.”

“ If it’s only been three days, how come I can’t remember anything that happened before this moment?”

“ Well, we think that the fall might had cause some initial brain damage that lead to a case of severe amnesia, we decided against running any tests until you came out of your comma like state. Now that you’re awake we can finally know for sure, but that will have to wait till morning. How ‘bout you; calm down, get back to bed, stop asking questions, relax, and go to sleep.”

“ But… this can’t be true. Just yesterday I was with my wife Lorane and my teenaged son Danial, I was playing baseball with my son when all of a sudden the bat…” I paused at my sudden realization. “ Came flying towards my head. Now this all makes sense, this is just a dream; I’m probably just there on the ground out cold. Ok doc I’ll play your game, I’ll get to bed and wake up in bright sunshine.”
Without another word I retreated back to the cot and drifted off back to sleep. The unicorn just stood there, looking as puzzled as I was earlier.

I felt the darkness surround me, engulfing me into a dark pit of nothing, but then a light appeared. I began to rush towards it, then I felt myself and I could feel my eyes bringing me back to reality as they slowly began to open. I quickly began to realize that I had not come back to the reality I envisioned. I took a quick glance at the setting that I had been transported to, then I realized. “This is not the park. This is just my damn cell. Ohh well… at least I still have my fingers.”
