The Lunatic Guardian

It exactly 20:00 Night woke up, only to face a strange pink pony; right in front of her face. "Good evening?” Night replied politely raising a confused brow. “Why is there a pink pony right in front of me?" Night asked aloud, getting out of the bed and begins stretching.

The pink earth pony began to speak "Hi, my name is Pinkie Pie, and I'm, as well. A friend of Twilight and I’m helping during the daytime. Trying to find something about you. Then I made something to eat for you for breakfast! But well it's not really breakfast. Because it's already evening. . . so, it's technically dinner but because you just woke up. It’s technically breakfast for you. Your, breakfast is at the dining hall where everyone else is waiting for you~! So, come on this way." Pinkie Pie explained before rushing to the dining hall. Night walked after her.

When she reached the dining hall, she was greeted by Twilight. "Good evening Night, how are you?"

"Good evening Twilight and good evening to your friends," Night replied sitting down on an empty chair.

"Oh, right I should probably introduce my friends to you, so this here is Applejack." Twilight points towards the orange earth pony next to her.

"Howdy Night." Applejack answered tipping her hat down politely.

Twilight continued the introductions "This is Rarity," she said pointing to the white unicorn sitting beside the orange pony Applejack.

"Good Evening, Night darling," Rarity said with a reserved smile.

"Next to Rarity, you should have met her a few moments ago, is Pinkie Pie," Twilight pointed to the pink earth pony with a poofy mane.

"Hi, Night" Pinkie Pie greeted bouncing in her seat.

"Next we have our animal caretaker friend, Fluttershy." Twilight then pointed at the yellow butter pegasus. Which whom had a small white bunny sitting beside her

"H-Hi Night." Fluttershy stuttered shyly.

"And next to her is Rainbow Dash, who is reading a Daring Do book," Twilight said with a flat expression. Pointing to the aquamarine pegasus, who was focused deeply on the Daring Do book. Rainbow didn’t respond, too far into the book, to hear her name being called. "And this is Starlight Glimmer, you met her yesterday, she is my student and the dragon is my assistant, Spike." Twilight finished her introductions.

"Hello," Spike and Starlight said at the same time, getting shocked looks from each other.

"Good Evening and nice to meet you all, I am Night. For now, till I know my real name," Night stated while Pinkie placed a plate of food in front of her. "It tastes good. So if I may ask, have you already found something about me?" Night asked curiously eagerly wanting to know. Because Rose did say Twilight was the key to her past, even if she didn’t say it in those exact words.

"Not exactly, the only thing we have is an idea that was proposed by my brother. Because of your cutie mark, he thought that you could be a guard or something closely related to one. My brother came up with the idea, that you could do night guard duty. Until the next morning, to see if something pops back in your memory, or maybe that you feel familiar during guard duty. So, what do you say to this idea?" Twilight asked curiously stuffing her face with dinner.

Gulping down her food Night responded positively "Sounds like a good idea, it's better than nothing after all. So when should I start and where should I patrol?" Night asked eating the last bit of her meal, "Thank you for the food." She finished dabbing her lips with a napkin.

"Well for starters, I think you should start patrolling between the entrance hall and bedrooms, Spike’s, Starlight’s, and even my bedroom, and the map room. But in which order you do it. I’ll leave that up to you. Girls and Spike, I would say that we should let it be for today. Let’s try to find out more tomorrow if you have time tomorrow that is. . ." Twilight stood up taking all the dirty plates brings them all to the kitchen, "Oh, and Night. When you are ready, could you come over to the library later?" The other ponys except for Starlight, Spike and Night left the dining room.

"Sure, I will be there." Night went back to her room and getting ready for her nighttime guard duty.

"Good Night." everypony said in unison going home or to there room. Except for Twilight who went to the castle’s library.

In Night's bedroom,"So what do I need for Guarding duty? My swords and my armor, yeah that should be all. Oh before I forget I should probably get my mane out of the way of my dragon eye."Night said aloud mentally putting her armor on, placing both katanas at her sides, setting her mane back to normal. Exiting her room she now headed for the library.

"Twilight? I am here, what is it you wanted to talk to me?" Night asked entering the library going to the center to see Princess Twilight.

"Oh, already here? Well, I wanted to say a few things. First of all, I had a visit from my brother and his wife. They left and are now in Canterlot, where Princess Celestia and Princess Luna live. I think, that in a few days they could come visit, so if theydocome. . . I want you to meet them, maybe they could help you too, and another thing. I wanted if you could come and tell me when it was midnight? I'll stay here and look for more clues. Until then." Twilight pulls out a book about the legendary ponys in Equestria.

"Ok, sounds good, then I will come and tell you at midnight. Then I will start my patrol, see you at midnight, Twilight." Night left, leaving Twilight, going to patrol the hallways of the Castle.

"Yeah see you at midnight," Twilight said not noticing that the door was already closed, having her muzzle buried deep into a book.

After a few hours, the clock had officially struck midnight. Just as promised, Night enters the library on time going over to Twilight. "Excuse me, its midnight you wanted that I tell you that it is midnight." Night said with her odd vocabulary that made Twilight scrunch up her nose, right before nodding her head.

"Oh, it's midnight already? Oh, okay then.” Twilight finished with a yawn. “I should probably start going to bed now. Well, first let me ask you something. Did you ever hear anything about Nightmare Moon, or does it ring any bells?" Twilight asked with a worried look on her face.

"Well not really, it's just the name. . . feels familiar. . . but nothing more." Night stated calmly walking up beside Twilight. "Why do you ask? did you find some hints?" Night asked with hope in her voice, only for it to be immediately crushed right after.

"No, it was just a hunch. But, if you don’t remember anything, then it’s probably for the best.” Twilight sighed putting the books back into the shelves yawning, "So, let's get you something to eat, and then you can tell me how the first half of your guarding duty went." Twilight spoke softly with a tired smile on her small muzzle as they both walked towards the kitchen.

When they finally got to the kitchen, "Here have some fruits and some water, so how was your first half of the night?" Twilight asked curiously as she placed the fruits and water in front of Night. Who was sitting down at the big crystal feast table, that felt empty since almost nopony was there. Except for Night and Twilight.

"It was good, it felt good and familiar like I did it a long time ago. But unfortunately, it doesn't ring any bell." Night explained starting to munch down her food casually.

"Well, then. . .ifit feels familiar then it must be the right step in the right direction. So, did anything happen while on duty?"

"No, nothing happened, it was all quiet." Night said finishing her last bit of fruit gulping down all of her water.

"Okay then, I should go to sleep now, could you please wake me at 05:45" Twilight asked Night walking out of the kitchen yawning.

"I will wake you at 05:45, have a good sleep, Twilight." Night cleaned up, going back to patrolling the castle. Once again.

After a while of patrolling, Night walked in front of Spike’s bedroom door. Which was opening nearly striking Night in the face, who quickly sidestepped to the side barely missing the opening door by inches saying: "Good night Spike need to go to the toilet?"

"Huh? Yeah actually. . . just need to go to the toilet," Spike spoke half sleep wobbling over to the restroom. Night continues her route leaving Spike to his toilet time, or whatever.

The night went on silently everything was quiet. Not a sound to be heard. Till 05:40 Night walked towards Twilight's bedroom going in, after knocking, to wake Twilight. "Good morning Twilight it's 05:45 you wanted to wake up." Night said in a neutral tone.

"Good morning Night, and how was the rest of the night?" Twilight asked drowsily only getting five hours of sleep. Getting up from bed going over to her window to pull the curtains open, so the sun’s rays could filter in.

"It was quiet and nearly nothing happens, only that when Spike needed to go to the toilet and nearly hit the door in my face, but I could react fast enough to dodge the door." Night says and smiles. "but I would like to go to bed now, so have a good day." Night sad with her almost childish vocabulary.

"Ok have a good rest, and watch out for theopening doors’." Twilight smiled winking at Night who nods going to bed. Arriving in her room, she puts her armor and her katanas down on the floor hopped into bed falling to sleep instantly. . . right on time. . .
