The next day Rim woke up to the oddest sight he had ever seen in his life. He saw Toothless with a hairless monkey and they appeared to be making friends. He knew this because Toothless was letting the monkey touch her snout. Rim thought, why do I always have to witness the weirdest things imaginable. In fact, this monkey was actually a human man, but Rim had never seen a human and so thought it was a hairless ape. Hiccup, the human, was trying to make Toothless trust him. .

All this started when Toothless woke up and she realized Rim was still asleep. She decided to look for some food in the little lake nearby. She attempted to catch the fish but her skill level was rusty. She becomes frustrated and annoyed and gives up trying. She starts going towards the trees to relax but she stops midway because she picks up a familiar scent. She dashes to a rock formation and perches on top of it. She then crouches down to see who it is without being seen.

As Hiccup enters the cove for the first time with a shield and a fish he is unable to get the shield through the opening, so he leaves it and enters with just the fish. He is looking around for Rim Because Hiccup thinks Rim is a type of odd dragon. His eyes land upon a night fury instead. At first he becomes a little nervous because he knows this is a real dragon not like Rim. He decides to try and win the dragon's trust by offering the fish to it.

Toothless slowly comes down off the rock and approaches this Viking who has a fish that she really wants. She is very cautious about taking the fish. Out of the corner of her eye she spots something shiny on the viking's belt. She growls a little as a warning. Hiccup looks around to see what is setting it off. He finds his dagger and realizes that's what is setting it off. He picks it off his person and then drops it onto the ground. Then he picks it up and tosses it into the lake. Toothless relaxes a little after that and begins to approach Hiccup because she is very hungry. She bites the fish and swallows it whole. After awhile she regurgitates the fish onto Hiccup's lap. He's totally disgusted to see the fish on his lap. Toothless motions him to take a bite of the fish. Hiccup looks down at it and back to Toothless and sighs, exasperated. Toothless growls at him to make him bite the fish. Finally Hiccup gives in and takes a bite. He pretends to like it in order to make Toothless trust him. But because he didn't swallow, Toothless didn't t trust him. She gestured for him to swallow and Hiccup begrudgingly swallowed. Hiccup smiled weakly. Toothless tried to smile but dragons have a hard time trying to smile. Hiccup gently put the rest of the fish down and reached out to Toothless to pet her. She growled defensively and glided away.

A few hours later near sunset, Hiccup was drawing a picture of Toothless in the dirt. Toothless was hanging upside down, by her tail from a tree branch. She glanced over at Hiccup to see if he was still there and to see what he was doing She jumped down and righted herself before landing on the ground. Then she walked over to see what he was doing. She sat down next to him to really get a closer look. As she scanned the picture, she was inspired to draw her own picture. She went and got a stick which was really a branch but a stick to her, and began drawing. As she was drawing, she accidentally swatted Hiccup in the head with the branch. She finished fre drawing and put down the stick. She admired her work at the same time Hiccup started getting up from his rock. As he walked over to her he accidentally stepped on a line of her drawing and she growled at him. Hiccup took his foot off the line and she stopped growling. So Hiccup stepped carefully over that line and all the others. He slowly reached his arm out to her and she reached down with her head and pressed her snout into his hand. Finally trust was starting to form betweenn them.

Meanwhile Rim has been watching this bond form but didn't understand what he was seeing. He thought , for some reason, that she was giving up her freedom. He got furiously angry towards Hiccup mainly because he was hungry and hunger causes him not to think rationally. He charges in to their space and tries to impale Hiccup with his horn. Hiccup hears him coming and tries to outrun him. Through dumb luck, he manages to outrun Rim.

Toothless is dumbstruck to see Rim chasing Hiccup off. She tries to get Rim 's attention by yelling at him to stop. Rim turns around and gives her a predatory look while drooling and growling and showing just how hungry he really is. Toothless takes a step back from shock and surprise. She had never seen Rim this predatory. She began searching for food for her friend to soothe him but she didn't know what to give him. She had no idea what he liked to eat. Rim charged at her, trying to tackle her but she was running away from him. Of course, when Rim starts running his hunger increases which makes him more angry and now he's desperate. He will do anything to get some food. He's unable to use his wings because they are still healing from the fall. He decides to use his ice breath to slow her down. It hits her back leg trapping the leg in an ice block. Because he was still running toward her, his momentum caused him to bump into her back. Rim circles around to the front of Toothless and uses one of his spells. This spell controls her mind and then drains some of her love emotion. This is what changelings eat, other creatures emotions. Now Rim is partially satisfied and the anger has subsided. He feels much better than he was feeling. He fires up his horn in order to break the spell on Toothless. Once the spell is broken, Toothless vents her anger and frustration on Rim. She yells at him for scaring her half to death. Then Rim gets mad again at being yelled at. They continue to argue because Toothless called Rim a monster. This hurt Rim's feelings worse than an arrow in his shoulder. He actually shed a tear because he was so angry. Rim just walks away, not saying another word. He needed some time alone so he could cry without anyone seeing him. He walked over to the tree and laid down under it and cried himself to sleep.

The reason Rim can breath ice,fire and lightning is because he has a crystal necklace that has a dragon souls in it that's why he has dragon breaths attacks
