The war was coming to an end as our heroes approached the Crystal Empire. Luna's front at Ponyville had just broke through Cadence's forces, only to be greeted by her cyborg creations. Celestia had heard that the transport was found, she lost hope of ever finding the Mane 6 again. She still pushed her forces into the Everfree Forest, making a flank onto Cadence's forces at Ponyville. The Crystal Empire's resources were running dry, experimenting and making cyporgs and mechs. Our friends have just entered the vast winter area that will lead to the Crystal Empire.

The gang had gotten rid of another look out base, grabbing a mech transport. Twilight was finally able to get out of a mech. She sat down, relaxing and falling asleep. Most of them needed sleep. Sunblane laid back into his chair. He thought deeply about past events. 2 teammates dead, a lot of enemies dead. He closed his eyes and fell asleep. Midnight put the transport on auto drive and dozed off.

Sunblane woke up, still thinking about their past ventures. The sight of Nimble Tail sacrificing himself to let them go on. They had only just found him. Star Facade's grave, covering him in dirt... All these things still haunted him. He shuddered. Sunblane looked out the windshield. He could see moving things in the snow, kicking it up as they traversed through it. He tried to see through the blizzard. He sat in the passenger seat and looked through his binoculars.

"H-hey! Midnight!" He shook her awake.

"What?" She said, grabbing the controls. She looked up ahead.

"There are mechs sliding through the snow!"

"Wait what!?" She looked closer.

"What th- Everyone wake up!" She yelled, everyone stirring. Twilight looked through the windshield and stepped back to her mech.

"Twilight don't go yet. They may not see us." They all froze, Midnight stopping the transport. The mechs glided towards them, kicking up snow. Midnight put the transport in a position where the mechs were on higher ground. They flew right over them, covering them in snow. The gang waited until they couldn't hear the mechs.

"We must be getting close." Cloud Sweeper said. Sunblane got out of the passenger seat and let Rainbow sit down in it. She checked the radar.

"They're gone, lets go." The transport moved forward, the snow coming off. Suddenly, the two gliding mechs turned around, aiming at the transport.

"You really think you're getting away?!"

"We'd like to see you try!" The pilots yelled, shooting at the transport. Twilight ran into her mech, activating it and tearing off the cloth that covered it. The two enemies stared in disbelief. Twilight grabbed the beam blade from the back and turned it on. Just as one passed by, she kneeled down, slicing right through it's waist. the top fell over, the legs still gliding. They exploded. Twilight turned to see the other mech tossing it's gun away, pulling out a heat sword and positioning it above the transport.

"DIE DAMN CELESTIAN SOLDIERS!" Twiliht jumped over to the mech, cutting it's arms off and pushed it down. She turned off the beam and held the hilt up to the cockpit.

"Step out of the vehicle NOW!" Twilight yelled, hovering the mech's hand over the activation of the sword. The cockpit of the enemy's mech opened, the pilot stepping out. The group ran out of the transport, guns up. The pilot took off his helmet, placing it on the ground. They held up their guns, Midnight putting her's down and stepping forward. She walked around the pilot, putting her gun to his back.

"Go forward into the transport. Do not try anything. We will kill you immediately." She shot a glance at Sunblane. They all went into the transport. They sat the pilot down, interrogating him.

"Who are you!?" Midnight yelled.

"Lieutenant Steel 'The Mace' Moon! 145th Team, 7th Squadron!" Steel yelled.

"Why are you called 'The Mace'?"

"I have gotten 327 melee kills!"

"Why are you in this region and not out fighting?"

"General Cadence said that melee work isn't need in this part of the war!"

"Where is the main base!?"

"Its 500 meters north from here. Wait.. you don't plan to attack them right now do you?"

"That is none of your business, now what is the conditions of your main base?"

"Most of our soldiers are out fighting in Ponyville but there are still about 500 soldiers left at the base!"

"We can take them. For now, you can stay with us, if you try and kill us, you are out numbered. Don't try it." She glared at him. He swallowed, a bead of sweat going down his face.

"Alright Lets get moving." The transport drove deeper into enemy territory, the storms getting more harder. They traveled for hours, finally finding the Crystal Empire. They went near one of the walls, climbing up and looking into the city. Twilight looked through her binoculars, staring through the city.

"It's not really an 'empire' anymore..." She said, looking in despair.

"I know that their our enemy but you can't help to be sorry for them." She said, seeing the ponies in pain and clearly malnourished. Some could barely walk. Something caught her eye. She looked to her right, seeing Princess Cadence walk out onto her balcony. She looked bad. Very bad. She looked like she hadn't slept or ate in forever. She started to cough.

"Twilight get down here! We have a plan!" Twilight climbed down.

"Alright, here's the deal. First Steel will walk into the town, saying he completed his mission. If anything seems suspicious, Rainbow shoot him from up there. After he goes into the base, he will grab a mech, attacking the rest of the base. Twilight will come in, taking the rest of the attack. Then Sunblane, Cloud Sweeper, Rainbow Dash, and I will rush the castle, confronting Cadence. Is that clear?" Midnight explained.

"Yes ma'am!" They said in unison. Steel started to enter the empire, disappearing into the army base.

Steel walked into the base, getting many greetings.

"Hey Mace!"

"Whats up Mace?"

"Its The Mace!" Ponies said as he went to the hanger. He contemplated if he should actually betray his team, his allies, and his leader. He went to the elevator and went up. He walked towards a huminoid mech, standing in front of the cockpit. He stared at it for a while. Should he? He stepped in, closing the hatch. He activated the mech, walking forward and cutting the cords connecting to the mech. He could heard yells down below.

"The mech's moving!"

"What the hell?!"

"Mobilize, now!" Steel grabbed an automatic beam weapon off the wall. He stepped out of the hanger, turning around and shooting the mechs inside. He saw them explode in front of him, the roof collapsing. All of the ponies in the town were running into their houses. A mech flew out of the hanger, it's arm missing. He shot it down, a ball of flame falling onto the ground. He dropped tossed Twilight the weapon as she flew into the town. He reached into the rubble and pulled out a machine gun. He shot at the soldiers running around. They easily killed all of the soldiers, but how would the rest of the war go?
