Chapter 29: Clearing the Runway

Earth – Mexico City International Airport

The air reeked of gunpowder, blood, and burning flesh. The battlefield was a graveyard of the undead, but the horde wasn’t finished yet.

Sam stood on the wing of the B-52, scanning the swarming mass of 800 remaining zombies. His rifle was almost out of ammo, but his resolve? Stronger than ever.

Dan, standing beside him, lit his flamethrower, his expression cold.

“No more,” he muttered.

Trixie, standing behind him, felt a shiver. She knew exactly what he meant.

They weren’t going to let what happened to Lady Gray happen again.

Not here.

Not ever.

The Final Wave

Sam fired first, picking off sprinting infected before they could get too close.

*BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!*

Trixie and Starlight unleashed their magic, burning, freezing, and launching infected away.

Dan jumped down, his flamethrower roaring to life—

*FWOOSH!*

The first row of zombies ignited, their howls of agony lost in the inferno.

Pops, manning the minigun, let out a chuckle.

“Let’s dance, ya rotting freaks.”

*BRRRRRRRRT!*

The .50 caliber rounds ripped through the horde, turning dozens into shredded meat.

Despite the firepower, the zombies kept coming.

Sam leaped from the wing, drawing his combat knife, meeting them head-on.

Dan fought beside him, burning and brawling, his eyes wild with fury.

Starlight and Trixie kept the rear covered, while Pops kept the firepower heavy.

After twenty minutes of relentless fighting, the last undead monstrosity collapsed, its body still twitching.

Silence.

Then—

Pops exhaled. “Damn. That was a workout.”

Dan wiped blood and sweat from his face. “You good, Trix?”

Trixie, catching her breath, nodded. “Trixie is… alive.”

Sam sheathed his blood-soaked knife. “Then let’s not waste time. We need to move.”

Dan turned toward the RV, his jaw tightening.

“We do this right. No more screw-ups. No more risks.”

Nobody disagreed.

Securing the Setup – No More Mistakes

With the horde cleared, the gang turned their focus to securing the RV and cargo container.

Dan inspected every latch, every bolt, every window, making sure nothing was left vulnerable.

Sam reinforced the armor plating, welding extra steel to the RV’s exterior.

Pops checked the weapons, ensuring the minigun was fully stocked and turrets were operational.

Starlight and Trixie enchanted barriers, strengthening the windows and doors.

Dan, arms crossed, scanned the setup. “Alright. No more bullshit. If we get hit, we hit back twice as hard.”

Sam nodded. “Agreed.”

Pops finished loading up the last of their fuel reserves. “Alright, folks. Time to roll.”

Dan took one last look at the B-52, the plane that had gotten them this far.

Then, without a word, he climbed into the RV’s passenger seat, shotgun resting on his lap.

Pops fired up the engine, and the RV rumbled to life.

Trixie, sitting beside Dan, nudged him. “You okay?”

Dan’s jaw clenched. “I’m not losing anyone else.”

She grabbed his hand.

“You won’t.”

Dan exhaled.

Then—

The RV tore down the Mexican highway, their next stop uncertain—

But they were ready for whatever came next.

Meanwhile, in Equestria…

The enchanted mirror shimmered, showing the gang’s secured convoy rolling forward.

Twilight sighed. “At least they’re safe for now.”

Rainbow Dash grinned. “Dan is serious now.”

Applejack nodded. “He’s got somethin’ to fight for.”

Celestia, watching closely, murmured,

“They all do.”

The mirror flickered—showing dark shapes moving ahead on the highway.

Something was waiting for them.

And the journey was far from over.
