Chapter 2: My Daddy's Task
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Mr Harmony? Oh Mr Harmony?" called a female's voice from outside of Mr Harmony's house.
The house was covered in all kinds of colours. Blue, pink, green, you name it. Those colours splatted on the walls of the outside of the house. The house was also of a bizarre shape.
A cheerful voice answered from inside the house. "Who is it~" it said as the door opened. "Why hello, Pennie. How are you this lovely day? A lovely lady like you shouldn't be out on such a hot day like this." said Mr Harmony.
Pennie had the half top part of a pony's body and the half bottom part of a snake's body, along with the tail of a rattlesnake, her scales red with a hint of black. She had the head of a pony, her mane pink with two lion paws. She slithers around instead of walking. She was the daughter of Mr Endersen.
Pennie was flustered.
"Oh, Mr Harmony. You flatter me. Anyway, I was just checking in to ask if you gave the tasks that Hemphis had listed out yesterday to the others of the council. Daddy said that he haven't received his task yet." said Mrs. Endersen. Adezen immediately tensed up.
"Uhhhh...." he thought of something to say. He can't say that he forgot about them, he already has a record of messing things up or just forgetting about them. "Uhhhhh..... yea. Y-yea. Yea. I already passed them out. And, oh no," he said in fake shock. "I forgot to give your dad his task? I'm such a clutz." he said as he facepalmed.
"Oh, that's okay. Well, I guess now I just need to know what his task is then." she said.
Adezen chuckled nervously. "O-okay. Just um....just wait a minute!" he said as he slammed his door shut and rushed to his office to retrieve the list that Hemphis had given him yesterday. He quickly went to his drawers to look for it. "Where is it? Where is it? Where is-"
"What you lookin for pap?" asked Asziel.
"Just lookin' for my ticket to 'survive this mess' town. Agh, where is it?!" he said, frustrated while digging through his drawers and tossing things here amd there, making paper fly everywhere and messing his office up in the making.
"Who was at the door?" asked Asziel again.
His father sighed in annoyance. "Look, I don't know. Uh, Aunty Pennie- look, just run along now. I'm trying to find the list." he said.
"Run off to where?" he asked again.
He then grumbled in annoyance as he stopped his search expedition. "Agh, I don't know. Play outside or something or- talk to Pennie! Yes, r-run along now." he said as he carried his son, put him out of his office, and closed the door.
Asziel looked at the door and sighed. "....meanie." he mumbled as he walked towards the front door to talk to Pennie and maybe play outside.
He walked towards the door and opened it. Behind the door stood Pennie. Pennie looked up, expecting for Mr Harmony to show up, but was confused. She then looked down and finally noticed him.
"Oh. Hey there, Asziel. What's taking your daddy so long?" asked Pennie as she rubbed the side of his head. She giggled as he began to rub his back against her paw back. She took note of it as she took her paw back.
"H-huh?" mumbled Asziel as he realised that the head rub was over.
"Where's your daddy?" asked Pennie again, giving him a sweet smile.
"Oh. Daddy is messing up his office by making paper fly everywhere." he replied.
Pennie tilted her head in confusion. "What do you mean?" she asked.
"Want to come inside and see?" he asked her as she then nodded.
Mr Harmony was still digging through his office. His office was now a complete mess.
"Where is it? Where is it? WHERE IS THE DAMN LIST?!" he shouted in frustration. Until something shiny caught his eye.
He looked down at the shiny thing that had attracted his view on his table. It looked like a piece of rolled shiny paper squashed underneath a book. "Is that..." he then lifted the book up and took the paper. He tossed the book aside, unrolled the paper. "I found it!"
Hemphis purposely made the paper shiny in case something like this did happen.
He then quickly ran towards his office door. "I found it! I found it! I found-" he was then, face first, slammed by the door as it flung open.
"Heyyy pappa!" exclaimed Asziel as he looked around, only to find no sign of his father. "......pappa?"
Pennie too looked around, only to hear a faint groan coming from behind the door. ".......Mr Harmony?" she said as she pushed the door a little, and her suspicions were comfirmed as she saw him behind there, slammed onto the wall.
"Ughhhh......" he groaned. Pennie covered her mouth in shock.
Asziel looked at his father, bewildered of his pain, and smiled widely. "Oh. There you are, pappa! I was just showing Pennie what you did to your office."
Mr Harmony was now laying on a couch in her living room, with a bag of ice on his head. "Are you okay, Mr Harmony? We're really sorry."
Mr Harmony sighed. "It's okay, Pennie. I know you two didn't mean it."
"What do you mean by 'we two'?" asked Asziel as he smirked, the smirk going unnoticed by Pennie.
Pennie looked at the list on the coffee table that was in front of the couch. "So these are the tasks?" she asked.
"Yep." was all that he said.
Pennie looked at the list. The list was listed with tasks and chores. "So which one is my daddy's task?" she asked.
He sat up, holding onto his ice bag with one paw while the other one grabbing the list and looking through it. "Mmm........ he should gather the plants and flowers needed for the ritual. He's good at that kind of stuff, so yea." he then snapped his paw and made a list with names of plants and flowers on it. "These are the flowers and plants that he needs to find. Give this to him and my heartfelt apology for forgetting- I mean, the late arrival of the knowing of his task." he said. "You should be going now. Don't want others thinking that you were at the cuckoo's house, would you?"
Pennie smiled. "I don't think of your family that way, Mr Harmony. Although it's a little...... how should I put this.... crazy? Sorry of that sounded rude but, even so, you and your son are good people. Don't make others make you feel otherwise" she said as she walked towards the front door. "But, are you sure you'll be okay?"
"Like I said, I'll be fine. Go home and give your father the letter." he said as he gave her a warm smile.
Pennie looked a bit hesitant at first, knowing that she had really injured him, but nodded anyways as she opened the door and went out.
Mr Harmony chuckled. "She's nice. Unlike somebody...." he said as he glared at his son.
"Come on Pap, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it." he said as he jumped onto the couch and rubbed himself against his father. "Pappaaaa...."
Mr Harmony resisted the urge to give in. "No. Stop it."
Asziel stopped. But then faced him, laying beside him. They stared into each other's eyes before Asziel gave him the thing that he dreaded the most, puppy eyes.
Instantly, Mr Harmony tensed up. But he still fought the urge to give in. "N-no! Stop! Gah!" he shrieked as his son started nuzzling his neck.
"Pappa...." he said. He then stared into his eyes once more. He then started to rub his cheek against his father's.
"Hmnn....." his father groaned. He tried, oh how he tried to fight it. But it was too much as he gave in and pulled his son in for a hug, causing his son to shriek in laughter.
"Fine. You win. You cheater."
"Since when do I cheat?"
"Ever since you started cheating." he said as they both cuddled and fell asleep.
