Pipsqueak’s New Home
The Next Painful Morning
Previous ChapterNext ChapterPinkie Pie walked into the hospital the next morning with a bright smile. She had voluntarily offered to entertain the sick ponies today, and nothing felt better to her than other ponies’s smiles. Her first sight, however, wasn’t a pleasent one.
Pipsqueak was sobbing in the sofa in the waiting room. Pinkie remembered him from Nightmare Night all those years ago, and decided to check up on the little colt.
“Hey Pipsqueak, what’s wrong little buddy?”, Pinkie gently asked the colt.
Pipsqueak, Celestia bless him, was a mess. His mane was ruffled beyond belief, and eyes reaked of fatigue and tears.
“P-Pinkie Pie? What are you doing here?”, the little colt confusingly asked.
“I came here to cheer up sick ponies; although right now, it seems like you need cheering up more than them”, Pinkie said. She then sat next to the grieving colt.
“Pip, I’m not going to ask you what happened; I can tell that you’re in tears. But, I’m going to be here for you. Nothing breaks my heart more than a pony in pain”, the party pony said supportively.
Just then, Nurse Redheart appeared in front of them.
“Hello there, Pinkie! I’m sorry, but I’m afraid that we can’t have you entertaining today. There’s a bit of a stomach bug, sorry”, the nurse said.
“That’s fine; Somepony else needs me right now”, Pinkie said, nodding towards Pipsqueak.
Redheart’s eyes lit up. Pinkie didn’t know WHAT he was sad about. She tried to find a way to explain it.
“Pinkie.....Do you know why Pipsqueak here is sad?”, Nurse Redheart asked.
“Well, no. I just thought he needed somepony to comfort him”, Pinkie said.
“You could say that......See Pinkie, Pip’s parents have..........passed away”, the nurse said gently.
Pinkie was in shock. Pipsqueak’s parents were really nice! She had welcomed them to Ponyville all those years ago, even before Pip was born. They were extremely nice and hard working ponies. How did they die? How COULD they have died?
“Oh......Oh my”, Pinke said in a rare moment of speechlessness.
Pipsqueak’s little cries were growing a little louder. Pinkie looked into his eyes and saw something all to familiar. When her Granny Pie has passed, she was left in a state of pure sorrow. She knew what little Pip was going through.
“Nurse, is there anyway that we can help Pipsqueak?”, Pinkie pleadingly asked.
“Pinkie, Pip’s family was the last of their name. He’s going to have to be put in and orphanage if nopony claims him”, Redheart said.
Pinkie’s mane had now decided to deflate a bit. She had to do something.....But what could it be?
“Nurse, is their anyway I can help?”, Pinke asked.
“Well......The only way that anypony can really help him is adoption. However, because there is no adult family left, that’s highly unlikely”, Nirse Redheart sadly said.
Pinkie then took the biggest chance of her life with just three simple words.
“I’ll adopt him!”, Pinkie said.
“A-Are you sure? I mean, no offense, you don’t exactly look like a mother”, Redheart awkwardly said.
“Images are deceiving, Nurse. I’ve been taking care of foals for years, and so help me I’m not going to stop now. Pipsqueak is a charming little colt with a huge heart, and I’m not going to sit here and let him be torn away from the town and friends he loves. Now, where do I go to adopt a foal?”, Pinkie Pie said.
Now, the whole waiting room was staring at the party pony with both awe and fear.
“W-Well, orphanage is right down the street. I suggest waiting a day until going though. In the mean time, how about you take Pipsqueak home? It could be beneficial to him to be surrounded by happiness”, Redheart suggested.
“Alright, Thanks nurse!”, Pinkie said.
Pinkie tapped Pipsqueak on the shoulder. The young colt looked around and saw a gentle smile.
“Pip, I’m so sorry for what has happened. I want to make you feel better, but I need your permission. Do you wanna come stay with me?”, Pinkie asked the foal.
Pipsqueak thought about it for a bit, and finally looked up to Pinke Pie and shyly smiled.
“I-I suppose so. I mean, I wouldn’t want to be a bother to you”, Pipsqueak said.
“Believe me, little buddy, you will never be a bother to me”, Pinkie said before wrapping him in a hug.
