Twilight Gives Fluttershy a *Special Shock*
Chapter 1
Load Full StoryNext ChapterTwilight Sparkle sighed to herself as she sat in her castle library. She looked around, seeing nobody around and nothing to do aside from try and reorganize her books. She had read through all of her books, again, but none of them had really managed to give her any kind of reaction anymore. Months ago, she had learned to read a couple of different mature stories, but they didn't really give her the spark that she needed either. Frankly, she was beginning to wonder if just about anything was able to give her some kind of spark these days.
"Ugh" Twilight groaned as she stopped slumping around on her seat, hooves tapping along the floor as she looked around the various books that she had to offer. She scanned along the individual titles among the different spines as she contemplated spending some time with her friends, but then, she remembered the exposition that was needed to start the story properly, so she began remembering who was doing what for a couple of days.
Rainbow Dash was out doing some jobs in Cloudsdale's factory, Rarity was out in Canterlot to tend to her boutique personally, even having dragged Spike along with her, for some reason, Applejack was on the road with her family, even Pinkie and Maud headed back home to the rock farm to visit their family. All that left was....
"Fluttershy!" Twilight exclaimed, thinking that she could do just about anything to help give her some level of entertainment. Sure, Fluttershy was pretty lousy at entertaining guests and all, but when that's all you've got, it was better than doing the same thing you've been doing for a long time now. Without even knowing it, Twilight had managed to get out of the castle and into the streets of Ponyville with a little bit of cheer in her steps. Surely, Fluttershy would be able to end her boredom, wouldn't she?
She was wrong. She was just flat-out wrong. You could easily manage to look at just about everything to analyze this situation, but simply put, Twilight was wrong about Fluttershy.
The purple alicorn stood outside Fluttershy's cottage, looking to see the yellow pegasus standing around her chicken coop, carefully watching each of her chickens as they exited the little house for them and started clucking around. Each and every single one of them wasn't really doing much of anything aside from that, sometimes pecking at the ground once or twice, sometimes flapping their wings and digging their talons into the dirt, some of them even looking at Twilight every now and again. Twilight expected something to happen, something that would actually give her something to do.
"Uh.....Fluttershy?" Twilight asked, only to quickly get shushed by the other female. Fluttershy just pointed with her wings towards the chickens as they all suddenly looked over towards the two ponies, looking confused as they tilted their heads. The silence hung in the air for a solid minute before they returned to their clucking and pecking at the ground, each of them focused simply on doing chicken things.
"So, what brings you to my home, Twilight?" Fluttershy asked, being much more comfortable with everyone as she looked deep into Twilight's eyes.
"Well....I was a little bit bored and wanted to come over to spend some time with you" Twilight answered, though she couldn't tell why she felt as though she were nervous during this moment. It felt like she should've been able to have a casual conversation with Fluttershy, but somehow or another, she just wasn't able to think of anything better to say.
"Ah. Rainbow Dash comes over here for the same reason sometimes, I'm glad to know I can help with this as well" Fluttershy giggled happily as she started heading towards the door to her cottage, inviting Twilight inside before she headed to the kitchen to make some tea and snacks. That just left Twilight to lounge around in the couch.
Fluttershy's house always had a more rustic feeling than most houses in town. Perhaps it was because of how it was so far out in the woods and managed to stand out among the clearing? If anything, it seemed to be in need of a new coat of paint or anything, but she supposed it wasn't as important of a detail right now. Why bring it up then? Because Twilight needed to have something to think about for this particular scene.
Thankfully, Fluttershy came back out of the kitchen mere moments later with some hot tea and a plate of cookies, all miraculously balanced on her back. The tray looked as though it was about to tip over on one side or the other, but her wings had managed to keep it settled perfectly fine. Twilight decided to play a grateful guest and used her magic to levitate the sweets onto the coffee table just before the couch, smiling peacefully as Fluttershy smiled back and got to business.
"So, what is it that you wanted to do?" Fluttershy asked right away, taking a dainty sip of her tea and smiling peacefully at the warm sensation.
"Honestly? I don't really know. It's just that nobody else was around and I felt like you'd be nice to talk with" Twilight answered, looking into Fluttershy's eyes with a straight face.
"I hope you're not saying that because I'm the only one left?" Fluttershy said with a little worry in her tone, but Twilight just shook her head, against the very thought that led to such an idea in the first place.
"No, I think I still would've chosen you. Being honest, it feels like you're more rounded than the other girls are sometimes" Twilight began saying, only to hear playful little giggling coming from Fluttershy in return. The pegasus had a big blush on her face as she tried to play it cool, clearly having spent a little too much time around Pinkie.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Twilight, I just couldn't resist. You should've seen yourself" Fluttershy giggled, making Twilight giggle as well.
"Didn't think that you were the type to make a prank. I mean, after that last one and all..." Twilight drolled off, thinking back to one particular....moment and all. She mentally shook her head and simply pushed that bad memory out of her mind.
"Well, I thought it might make it a little bit easier to be around others if I got them to laugh....Well, okay, Discord thought that would be a good idea and all, I just thought that it could help" Fluttershy then answered, giving a more realistic answer than Twilight was expecting. Perhaps it was time she start learning more about her friends instead of simply making expectations based on what she knew before.
"Well...that does actually work for you, in that case. Still, I guess I was mostly just expecting you to...On second though, never mind. Let's just go and do something together" Twilight then told her, blinking her eyes and making a cute little squee noise like the stuffed animal she practically was. Fluttershy just gave a similar response as the two then started thinking about just what it was that they could do together. It didn't take long before they ended up realizing just how little there was to go out and do.
While Fluttershy enjoyed going out and shopping for various herbs and such, Twilight never really liked shopping at all. Twilight suggested checking out the movies, but Fluttershy already knew what they were playing this particular week and didn't want to see any of them. Since the two of them had to do something, they needed time to figure out just what they had wanted to do together. The two of them put a hoof to their own mouths and thought about it a little bit further, staring out into space for another minute or two before Twilight suddenly thought about something.
"I know it isn't really something you like doing, but would you consider maybe helping me test some magic? There's always spells that don't really work unless there are multiple ponies, but there is one that I've wanted to actually look at for a while" Twilight then asked, thinking it might just work out for the two of them. Fluttershy seemed to give it a little bit of thought and then eventually nodded her head with a little smile.
"It won't be anything that mutates my body or anything, will it?" Fluttershy then asked, a little bit of awkward caution in her voice.
"Of course not. What we're doing is something different" Twilight answered, a little bit shocked that Fluttershy, of all ponies, was asking her that. I mean, Twilight's never actually had that problem when it came to her magic (Bats!)....Her magic had never really been anything like that. Naturally though, Twilight just had to shake the feeling from her head, and as the two of them had headed off to the castle, Twilight thought about just what kinda spell to test on Fluttershy. Just as Fluttershy finished locking up the front door to her house though, Twilight suddenly knew just what it was.
