Twilight Gives Fluttershy a *Special Shock*
Chapter 2
Previous ChapterNext ChapterTwilight and Fluttershy entered the castle and slowly began walking off towards the library. Twilight began thinking about it a little bit further, wanting to make certain the exact spell that she wanted to use was really the one that she wanted. The two of them adventured into the library and Fluttershy took a seat among one of the many sofas placed in it. Rarity always did have an eye for interior decorating. Sometimes, Twilight had to wonder just where Rarity may have ended up, had she not been involved in fashion her whole life. Perhaps a thought for later though. For now, she began the casual search for the spell that she wanted.
The spellbook section of the library itself was fairly thin, hardly having much magical merchandise to be a merchant with. Still, she made with what little that she had, looking around the tomes inside and out to make certain what she had was there. For all she knew, she may have even dreamed it up. Thankfully for her and the plot of the story, however, she eventually stumbled upon the spell within the third tome she was searching.
"Aha!" Twilight exclaimed happily, her wings unfurling in glee as Fluttershy looked over in curiosity. "This is what I plan on trying out today, if it's alright with you?" Twilight then asked as she laid the book upon a small table, letting Fluttershy crane her head over and look at the contents.
This spellbook seemed to be filled all manner of different arcane ideas, most of which simply flew over her head as she tried her best to understand them. Unfortunately though, being a pegasus, Fluttershy didn't understand almost any of it, and just stared at it awkwardly. Seeing the confusion in her eyes, Twilight decided to be nice and actually give a legitimate answer to just what questions were forming in her friend's mind.
"It's basically a spell meant to link information between an individual pony and another object" Twillight simplified. Fluttershy just nodded her head and made an "ah" of understanding towards her. Of course, being the individual that she was, Fluttershy still had a few questions forming in her mind at such a thing.
"So...You're going to have me understand how something works with this spell?" Fluttershy asked, her head tilting just barely to the right to try and understand the spell's design a little bit better. Twilight just gave her a 'bless you' sort of smile and then began the process of explaining it further.
"It'll link you and another object together so that you can experience all manner of different things that I do with the other one" Twilight then added, thinking that it would be for the best to keep it simple. Fluttershy was by no means dumb, she just needed a little bit more of an answer that a pegasus would understand is all.
"It sounds like an....interesting spell, but I'm really unsure just what it'll end up doing" Fluttershy mused, looking over how the spell was worded and trying to figure it out in her head.
"Honestly, that's what I had been wanting to test out. There are all kinds of different things that can happen right now" Twilight mused, looking over it again and nodding her head in understanding. It looked simple enough for her, but she always felt as though things were simple whenever she was looking at different spells and such.
"Well...It seems interesting enough, I suppose that I can help you with this" Fluttershy then smiled happily, a little bit curious herself as to just how things would look through this spell in particular. Why, if it allowed her to feel things from a distance, without actually being involved in it, it would be something else entirely. The yellow pegasus thought to herself further about it before returning her attention to Twilight again.
"Alright then, let's get started" Twilight answered, giving a cheerful, happy smile as she looked over the details of the spell once again, thinking it over and then looking around for...any real random object available. It didn't have to be anything particularly outstanding, but it did have to be something that could work without requiring additional effort to keep it running how she wanted. Eventually, Twilight came across an old closet filled with various items across her time spent in her castle. Little things, mostly candles and such that didn't really fit anywhere else. Twilight stepped inside and lit up her horn to try and find something when she noticed an old rod-shaped object randomly sticking out. Twilight hadn't spent much time in there, so of course, she couldn't really be bothered to remember whether or not it was there before.
"I suppose this can work" Twilight mused as she grabbed hold of it with her magic, taking it out and setting it down on the table proper. Fluttershy, understandably, raises an eyebrow to the rod, questioning exactly what it is in her mind.
"What is this?"
...And out loud, as well, apparently.
"Well....I don't really know exactly how to describe it. I just sorta found it in the closet and it looked right, somehow" Twilight shrugged her shoulders. "It's not exactly like it has to be something specific to test this out or anything, right?" she then added, thinking that it wasn't as important as it seemed. A lot of it seemed as though it was just trial and error, same as everyday science.
"I guess you have a point" Fluttershy mused, not really sure how else to think about it herself.
"Well, better get started now" Twilight mused, having Fluttershy stand a specific distance away to make certain she could make the spell do what it was meant to. Fluttershy just did what she wanted and stood to the side of the rod, holding herself unusually still. She started to feel a little bit nervous about just what had been going on already, but she couldn't just let her friend down or anything. She repeatedly told herself in her mind that things weren't nearly as bad as they seemed, taking deep, slow breaths to keep her heart calm, and before she knew it, she could see Twilight readying the spell to be cast.
"Let's hope that this does....something" Twilight mused, her horn lighting up as she shot two individual beams right onto the subject of her little experiment and the rod, both it and Fluttershy glowing a bright purple color for a few short seconds. Fluttershy held still for a bit, a little bit nervous as she started to feel tingly all over. She could tell that something was happening, something magical, but she couldn't for the life of her tell exactly what it was that she felt coming across her body. It was like being touched, but...weird. It felt unnatural, bizarre, all kinds of different things went through her mind in the mere seconds that felt like hours. Eventually, she was set back to normal mere moments later, a little bit sweaty and breathing heavily.
"Well....How do you feel?" Twilight asked her carefully. Fluttershy seemed as though she were on fire or feeling something weird going on, but after taking a deep breath, she suddenly felt...nothing.
"I don't feel anything" Fluttershy commented blankly, not really feeling as though there were anything going on.
"Nothing? I mean, considering just how sweaty you are right now, I'd assume that you must be experiencing some kind of reaction?" Twilight casually commented. She was expecting a lot more, but then eventually sighed as she could hear something else running down the hallways, a little pitter-patter of little feet against the hard crystal floors. Eventually, she realized it was Angel Bunny running in, carrying a letter in his mouth and running up to Fluttershy.
"What's this?" Fluttershy wondered aloud as she started looking over the letter. Reading it carefully, it looked as though something were happening, her eyes going wide in shock as she gasped. "There's an emergency going on at the sanctuary! Twilight, as much as I hate leaving you at a time like this, I need to go!" she told her purple friend, Twilight just looking surprised in general.
"We can continue this part later, right now, you should go and help them" Twilight mused, watching her fly away as she then looked at the rod again. She couldn't tell exactly what was going on, but she could of course just find another thing to mess around with in the meantime. Little did she know though, there was a lot more to this than she had first thought.
