"Lets see here... No... No... Ah, here we are..."

Well, well, well... Never did a journal on paper before. So lets start with a name. My name is Patrick Fertic. Friends used to call Rick, but that was long time ago. I came to Russia to escape from the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple and decided it would be a good idea to lay down in Chernogorsk. Got a hotel, unpacked and fell asleep... So why did no one tell me that the world would lose it's collective shit, and suddenly people who die aren't staying down anymore. No one really knows how it started, some point at the government, others point at a terrorist attack. Me? I say just wrong place, perfect timing. I come to this conclusion for one simple purpose: Russia is the biggest country on the Earth, yet next to it is China, and channel away is Alaska, leading into Canada and by default, America. So someone let out a Bio-bomb and flew over Russia, it must've lost fuel too fast, plummeting into Russian airspace, exploded, now Russia turned into a Zombie hotbed and I, and about 50 other nobodies, got stuck in between the Shit Sandwich.

Of course, this is a speculations. I have no proof of this, and for all I know this was already happening when I got here.
It been.... A week I think, since I had started to scrounge around for food. I've been hunting game, deer and pheasant, but I got needs to. Some of them being more... Liquid based than food based. Scotch ran dry, and I'm tired of vodka, maybe I'll find some gin or rum? Drinking habits aside, I've made a camp in Cherno, near the deli. It had a backup generator in the basement and after I convinced some nut-heads that I had a working meat freezer, they gave me enough gas to turn the thing on. Soon I was making a business; those nuts had taste I'll give them that. They came with moose meat, something I wasn't too unfamiliar with just... inexperienced.

I took it though, stored it, made sure nothing got into it. Check it for Typhoid things like that. I was giving out meat, raw and cooked to everyone until...

"Aw fuck, c'mon Ricky... you can write it down..."

...Until some schmuck naming himself 'Odin' came into the picture. Now, Odin was, and still is, a character beyond saving. This is a man who, in a single night with nothing but a spear, killed 50 zombies all the while screaming incoherent Russian. The whole time, never bit once. Some people called him Rasputin reborn, others (like myself) call him homicidally insane. He's brash, cares about nothing, and when he wants to make a point you best believe it... Cassidy was 8 months in. Now she's six feet down.

Odin told us our little community of strangers wasn't going to last, and he spied her. 'Take her, for example.' he said with a ~~fuckig~~

The pen clattered out of my hand as I instinctively reached for my handgun. "He's not here... He's not here..."

'Oh, I'm not?'

*BANG*

I was breathing heavy now. I heard that. It wasn't my head I know I heard it this... Nothing. No one there. Fuck. I got up out of the chair and looked at the wall I shot. 9 millimeter hole right there in drywall. Oops. I gave a small snort and sat back down to look at my journal.

.......Ah fuck it, it can wait. Shutting the book I hopped out of the chair and grabbed my crossbow, backpack, and other essentials. The gun is for defense, the crossbow is for hunting... Doesn't mean I had to it the other way around though. Deer were getting harder to track, but since mating season was almost here, I figured some pheasant would do for now. Exiting my bunker, I locked the door and head for the forest. Looking at some traps I had set up earlier, I saw a rabbit trap was triggered. I took him off, and stuffed him in a sack. Looking further out I saw another rabbit trap, this time though it was fox. Poor guy, I took him too and put him in with the rabbit.

As I go to investigate the other traps I had set in various parts of the area, I hear a snap from a twig behind me. I turned around, pistol at the ready. "Oi, whose there? C'mon, tell me who you are and things wont get messy," I said slowly creeping up to a tree. I heard a small sound, a sniffle. It's cold, but I didn't think it was that cold. I'm against the tree now, and slowly circling it. I see something that almost broke my heart. It was a girl, a naked girl at that, shivering and wiping her nose. She looked at me with big blue eyes, her skin was a dark tan, and hair was black with a pink and purple stripe running through it. She was frightened by the pistol and she slowly ducked her head down with her arms covering her head.

"D-d-don't hurt me... Please..." She cried. I holstered the gun so fast I nearly dropped it. I took off my coat and pulled a spare pair of jeans out of the backpack. I picked her up off the dirt and quickly gave her the coat, and she snuggled into it. I fanned out the jeans, and held them out. Carefully she stepped into them one leg after the other, and she snuggled back into the coat. She still shaking like a leaf, she must've been out here for a few hours, almost the whole day I would presume.

"Hey, you okay?" I said. Normally this would be weird, but this was survival here. I got behind her and slowly hugged her waist. "Sharing body heat is an easy way to heat back up, just don't give me a cold." I joked, and she only nodded. Maybe she didn't get it, or was simply too weak to laugh. She was kinda wobbly, now I that I think about. She was pretty... SKINNY! Pretty skinny. "Stay here, I need to go check on something and then I'll come right back, okay?" She nodded again.

The last couple of traps were empty, leaving me with only a rabbit and a fox. I'd give her a bigger portion, if anything to curb her malnutrition. I came back to the tree and found her there, head to the side. I checked her pulse, it was there, albeit a slow, a beat or two off of normal. I reached down and held her bridle style and began walking back home. I can hear her speak as she talks. I hear speak of a 'Spike', 'Pinkie', some names are weird like 'Rainbow Dash' and 'Rarity'. A question for tomorrow I suppose. We reach the door and being very careful not to drop her, I fish out my keys and open the door.

I lie her down in my bed as I do a quick bang up skinning of the rabbit and the fox and store them both in the freezer. I hear a small meow at my side, and I see him, my little bundle of joy, Rufus. I pick him and bring him into the kitchen. I took out a small can of tuna and set it down for him and he meows thankfully, and I give him a quick pet. I move into the cupboard and grab a small can of spaghetti. I pulled out a small knife and opened the can, warmed it up on the hot-plate, and started chow down with my feline friend. Once supper was down, I went into my room and stripped into my boxers... then put my pants back on as soon as I remembered that I have guest in my bed. She was still shivering, so I did something I knew I was gonna regret in the morning. I pulled up the covers and hopped in bed with her, and while I wanted to sit back to back, she shivering enough to shake the bed, so I rolled over and held her close. The shivering started strong, but it eventually died down and her came back out from under the blanket.

I don't know why, but it was just enough to make me fall asleep too.
