I woke to the sound of gunshots. I scrambled out of my room, I sighed when I saw Sonata playing some stupid game on the TV. I would be angry at her except she is technically working, she is a a well regarded game tester and this is the latest game she has got. I stare at the several notebooks full of notes on the game, Sonata just finished the game for the fifth time in the past couple of days. Sonata sniffled “I’m so sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up again, I’ve just been so busy. I have to get a a few friends over to test the multiplayer system.”

She shoved a huge box full of candy into her mouth and chugged a large coffee, her eyes, bloodshot from lack of sleep. I sighed as I made myself breakfast, Sonata’s job has kept the roof over our head after I lost my job due to the building collapsing in an earthquake, my arm was injured in the incident, it may never recover fully , I sighed.

Sonata joined an online beta testing program 6 months ago and did so well they hired her. I have helped her manage her money, still with the increasing busyness of her work she barely has time for recreation, she also attends school with me and Aria. Speaking of which, Aria was coming down the stairs as she moaned “Urghh, what’s for breakfast.”

I said plainly “Eggs on toast.”

Aria moaned “Come on, we are not poor anymore. We can try something different.”

I snarled “Sonata is running herself ragged, I have even considered getting her counselling. Do you wonder that energetic girl that we called our sister went and then was replaced with the sister we have know.” I turned to see Sonata typing on her laptop as her body shook from the caffeine and sugar she costumed.

Aria said snidely “I think it's an improvement.” The clock saved Aria’s face from my fist, I always knew they were in conflict but that was just cruel. I knew I could beat her even with my one good arm.

I said “Sonata, we gotta go to school come on.”

Sonata shuddered in my arms as she begged “Please don’t make me go, they are going to flush my head down the toilet again.”

Aria sneered “Come on, whiner.” I glared at Aria as Sonata burst into tears, Aria needed some attitude adjustment.

I gave her a hug and whispered “Please I know it’s hard but we have to keep going, with the girls somewhere else we have to rely on ourselves, officially we’re teenagers and that means school.” Sonata cried as she put on her uniform.

I let Sonata go first, I pulled Aria aside as Sonata kept going. I asked angrily “What is your problem?”

Aria said “Come on you know as well as I do Sonata was too silly all the time. I know it annoyed you.”

I snarled as my right arm shook “It did but I would rather have that Sonata back than this, she is an emotional wreck.” Sonata put on a small smile when we arrived but I knew better, she was screaming inside. We all had different classes so we had to split up.

I could feel the ugly stares, I kept walking until I bumped into a huge boy, his yellow eyes were filled with anger. He grabbed me and lifted me up, I felt his grip on my weak left arm causing my damaged bones to scream, I gritted my teeth as I asked “Rover, stop this please?”

Rover roared “I am not a dog, I will not listen to you after you treated me like one!” I felt my insides tremble from each blow to my gut. I heard the sound of running and to my surprise I saw an amber coloured fist slam into Rover’s jaw. I fell to the ground on my side.

I exclaimed as I stood up and nursed my bad arm “Sunset, you're alive.”

Sunset smirked “Yes, I am, dying gives a interesting perspective on life and its importance.”

Rover roared “Get out of my way!” He delivered a huge haymaker which to my shock Sunset easily blocked with her finger. Rover than swung multiple blows only for Sunset to easily block all of them. I couldn’t believe her speed and strength, she blocked all those blows with her finger. I was about to ask how when a ball of cotton candy with one of Rover’s friends, Spot in it, rolled into the wall and then his other friend, Fido, flew down the hallway.

I turned around to see Aria standing next to Twilight and Pinkie was standing next to Sonata was busy crying as she ate a Taco.

Sunset stared at Fido who was bloody and broken before looking back at Twilight. Sunset asked concerned “Why is he like that, I thought we said no hurting?”

Twilight cried “I’m sorry I just saw him shoving Aria into her locker and I snapped, that had happened one too many time during my freshmen years, I lost control.”

I said “I’ll leave this to you, me and my sisters are already late for class.”The nodded at us. We split up again hopefully not getting attacked again. I looked at my locker in shock, it had a rude picture of me being dead on the locker under it had (Flash Sentry was here) doodled on it. Now I understand why the old Sunset went out with him, he is a total d**k.

The day went past uneventfully although Sunset was studying hard, she was gone for a year. Just as we were about to leave Sunset said “I have something to show you.”

I asked “What is it?”

Sunset smirked “It’s a surprise.” Sunset guided us to the school lab, this is a project I have been working on since you returned we gasped, our gems were reformed on the table but glowed with a blue light. Sunset said “I took Twilight’s old amulet and using some of it’s tech, I was able to reconfigure and repair them. They feed off positive energy now.”

All 3 of us felt tears in our eyes we thought we were separate from our old selves forever. We smiled as we carried our reforged gems home.
