'Where am I? Who am I? And... What happened?' A single being asked as its eyes slowly opened to a bright world. One which it was not ready for. The being was massive, a dragon of course would be, but he was on a borderline giant of one, even by their standards! His height exceeded 150 meters, with a wingspan of 175 meters and he weighed over 70,000 tons! His golden scales were gleaming in the moonlight, as though they were made of pure gold, with bright red eyes on all 3 of his heads, which contained eastern dragon-like horns on the backs and sharp teeth like diamond in strength and a razor in sharpness. Strangely, he had no arms/front legs, only two back legs for on-land locomotion. His two wings were properly proportional to his body and had no imperfections in terms of design. He also had a pair of tails which were connected to one central limb at his end.
The being looked around as he saw that he was in some kind of dark forest at night with no further explanation or any further signs of life. He decided to try to get somewhere and flapped his massive wings, his instincts allowing him to fly quite easily. It seemed as though he flew for all of his life, for how long it really was, the being had no idea. He just cleared the tree tops and he changed to moving forwards, towards a small town. When he arrived there, he saw that it was surprisingly empty, nothing seemed to be there except the buildings themselves and a few stands as well. They seemed to be of medieval aged construction. The style which was forgotten to man was now in front of the massive dragon. He had no idea as to how he knew that, but he didn't bother to question it at all. The massive dragon didn't want to attract undue attention, thus it managed to quiet his footfalls to the point where they were silent. It was hard to do, but he managed to accomplish it.
He searched and searched the place, hoping to at least find something, anything that would indicate life forms other than himself. He did eventually find one, that was, as it turned out, the central building. The being kept going quietly as he looked in through a window, making sure he wouldn't be seen. What he saw wasn't what he was expecting at all. He was looking at small quadrupedal creatures, equines called ponies if he knew the term correctly. He wasn't sure if he was on an influential substance, in a dream or something else, because he wasn't exactly certain if he was hallucinating, dreaming, or if this was reality due to the fact that he was reasonably sure that they weren't multicolored. He just shook his heads to clear his heads as he kept looking into the windows. A pair of curtains had concealed something for some reason before they drew back and revealed... nothing...
'What?' The dragon demanded mentally in bewilderment before he noticed some wisps of blue smoke and dust rising from the cracks in the hard wood floor of the stage. He just kept staring as he saw an extremely tall mare appear out of it from seemingly nowhere. Her black coat seemed to absorb the very light of the room, her teal eyes like the slits of a feline which complimented her overall appearance. She wore from fetlock to her horn pure light blue armor which had a fleur de lis design chest plate, boots which almost went up to her knees and a helmet which covered her horn. Her mane was like none of the other mares in the room, it flowed like there was wind where there was none. It even sparkled at times with small white stars, which made her mane seem like it were a piece of the skies itself. She laughed and said that she was glad to see her subjects after so long.
One wanted to fight her, but another held her back, a third tried to guess her name, apparently failing. Then, there was one more which said that the mare on the stage was, apparently, named Nightmare Moon. The mentioned mare then reared back as she said that the night would last forever and then laughed. A couple of ponies in golden armor then attacked her, but were blown back by a blast of some sort. The dragon noticed however, that the source came from the horn itself, something it stored in its memory for later. He then watched as the mare turned to dust and flew off into the distance. The dragon thought that if she was powerful enough to transform herself, then maybe she could help him. He spread his wings as he took flight and followed the mare in the general direction she was going, not realizing he had been spotted.
(Twilight's P.O.V.)
Twilight was in a state of pure panic. All of the signs were coming to fruition as she had just seen the golden dragon of the legend which was said to have followed Nightmare Moon's release. She had expected that it would look different from the artistic drawing and same with Nightmare Moon. The mere sight of it however, was something she was never prepared for. The legend made it seem like any other dragon, however, this was simply not the case. When she first laid eyes on it, she froze. It was far bigger than she could have imagined, the teeth made it look more terrifying and its red eyes were even greater incentive for her to run the other way. The mere presence of it held power, power which was unlike any other before, one which was merely the tip of the iceberg that could crush anything in its path. Its size was also a great indicator for pure strength as was standard to the legends of great dragons. Regardless of all of that, she ran as fast as her legs would carry her directly for the library, hoping to her mentor Princess Celestia that she wasn't too late.
Author's Note
AN: That was my first attempt with a Godzilla/MLP crossover. And what a way to start. If you haven't figured it out yet, I am using the big bad of the Godzilla series; King Ghidora in his Grand King incarnation. This incarnation of King Ghidora however, has been altered to my preferences for two reasons. 1; I genuinely love the Rebirth of Mothra 3 Grand King design, but its abysmal height of 60 meters among other measurements was something I didn't really like as much as the other ones. Instead, I decided to go with Heisei measurements. Why? Because the king of terror, good or no, deserves to be massive and fearsome like one would imagine him to be. I hope you won't criticize me too much for this and hope you enjoy this fanfic.
