The Electric Defender
A Short "To Do" List, and a Therapist
Previous ChapterLogan looked around him for, what he counted to be, the seven hundred nineteenth time. The darkness quickly drove him insane; to keep himself from going to full shutdown mode, he began looking at things differntly. He smiled to the darkness as it was everything to, and for him. One would think the darkness could only break an individual, but instead, Logan let it build him up. Something so shunned and simple, was also the most peaceful, inspiring, and comforting.
The darkness was everything to him. The simplicity of the darkness became familiar, and made him feel at home after a while. The darkness was there when he fell asleep, and it was there when he woke up. It always remained pleasant, suttle to wake, yet urged him to sleep. As the time between rest and wake passed he would feel lonely, so the darkness comforted him and kept him company, wrapping it's arms around him in a warm hug.
The darkness told him to make the best of things, telling him if something seemed bad it could be made better. He just needed to appreciate the things he had, even if there weren't that many. Though he did his best to stay positive, there were moments when positive attitude fell through, but just for a split second. This split second seemed like nothing at first, but slowly that split second added up to a full second, which added up to a minute, which added up to an hour. When his positive mood fell, his sanity slowly fell with it.
Each time he lost a small piece of his sanity, and sooner or latter, those pieces would make a whole. In short, the sane would eventually become insane. To keep his mind of his situation he did the one thing he could do in this darkness: exercise. Push-ups, sit-ups, running and others that didn't require equipment. It worked better than he expected, when he was done he would usually fall do the one other thing he could do: sleep. Since his body stayed on his internal clock, he could count the days.
And so he fell into the repetition, wake up, admire darkness, exercise, go to sleep. It was his "to do" list for every day; it didn't bother him all that much, because he didn't have to expect anything different. Some might say it was boring, he would say it was orderly and calm.
But was it really all worth it? He knew eventually he would go insane, so why was he doing this? Just so he could delay the inevitable? He thought about the question. Probably because he wanted to savor every moment of his sanity. He better enjoy it now, because based on the fact that he was already asking himself a question, his sanity was going faster than he thought.
Logan sighed as he finished the last of his exercise and lay down on the cool, black ground. Hopefully he would keep exercising even after he went insane. It was a good thing the darkness kept him full, but he still missed the taste of even some of his least favorite foods. Another plus was that the since the darkness kept nutrients going, the exercise he had been doing was begining to show. He could tell the his muscles were getting bigger, not by alot, but noticeably bigger.
Logan snapped himself out of his train of thought, if he countined he might throw of his internal clock. He could continue his thoughts tomorrow. After all, he had eternity.

Celestia paced back and forth in the throne room, her brow furrowed in frustration and worry. She put her head up for a moment, and for a second her secretary had a glimmer of hope she had gotten over her troubles. This hope was quickly wiped away when Celestia put her head back down and continued pacing.
"Come now Princess Celestia," her secretary scolded, "This worring isn't healthy."
"For both me and my sister," Celestia said quietly.
"Please princess, worry not about your sister. I have been in your place before."
"Really?"
"Yes, in fact it was just a month ago my sister lost her husband. He left peacefully in his sleep." paused and frowned at the floor, "Poor girl, she just stayed in their bedroom, staring at photographs of him. She kept herself holed up for two and a half weeks, but she came out smiling. All she kept saying was, 'he's in a better place now' but it was for the best."
"Luna is different. Loosing such a good friend to her is hard, especially when she only has her personally guards as her two other good friends."
The secretary sighed, "I know, everypony is different. This, however, has gone on far enough though. I think you should get Princess Luna a psychologist, or a therapist of some sort to help her."
"It's bold of you to make a suggestion like that to me," Celestia said, "Why did you say it though?"
"Because when one Princess is sad, the other is too. It's like your one pony with the same emotions in two differnt places. And when a Princess isn't happy, I'm not happy."
"Thankyou for your concern, Miss Quill." Celestia said, "I think a therapist would do Luna some good."
A week later Luna was rearranging a section of the night sky on he balcony when she heard a knock on her door.
"It's open," Luna called. She quickly turned her head to see her sister, and then turned back to her work.
"Are you feeling any better, Luna?" Celestia asked. Luna paused for a second then continued.
"I don't want to talk about it. Okay?" Luna said in a monotone.
Celestia paused for a second, "Luna, are you almost done with the stars?"
"Just one more thing... done." Luna declared.
"Good, you have somewhere to be." Celestia levitated a small piece of torn paper of to her sorrowful sister.
Luna looked at it in puzzlement, "What is '106, Cornfield lane'?"
"The place you need to be in an hour," Celestia said, "You can go there and not say a word, or you can let the pony do his job and help you." She left before Luna could speak.
Luna looked down at the writing again and mouthed the words as if they had a deeper meaning. She sighed and, instead of flying, she decided to walk. Hammer and Anvil followed her down the hall, but she waved her hoof to dismiss them for the night. She walked the rest of the journey with her head down in silence: only looking up to check street names. She stopped at fairly large building with many windows, all of which were completely dark with the exception of one on the second story that was dimly lit.
"Must just be getting up," Luna said to herself. She walked through the front door which lead to a main lobby. there was red carpet, plants in the corners of the room and a large 'Y' shaped staircase. She walked up the stairs, that were also red carpet, and turned left down a hall with green carpet and black granite tiles at the edges. Doors were mostly glass with a wooden frame painted white. Each door had a set of white alminum blinds, easily retractable with a thin rope and could be folded closed by twisting a plastic rod.
Besides the dimly lit hallway one other room was brightly lit. There was a plastic slip-in sign with black letters next to the door.
Room 16
Doctor Peaceful Joy
Luna Raised an eyebrow mildly suspicious of the name; never the less, she opened the door and quietly. She was now in a room with two lamps and a light on the opposite wall. There was a couch and and foreleg chair cornering a dark brown coffee table with an unlit candle in on top. The walls were brown with designs of diferent shades of light brown in verticle merging lines, and the carpet was a deep red. The first room lead to a small hall with one door at the end and another at the begining of the hall. A mare unicorn mare stepped out from the closer door; she had deep blue eyes, a very dark purple mane and tail straight with a curl at the end, and to top it off, a purple coat a little darker than Twilight's with an ancient equestrian symbol, meaning healthy mind, life, and future, for a cutie mark.
"Hello," she said quietly with a smile, "My name is Peaceful Joy, but you may call me what you feel comfortable with."
"I am Luna, but please leave Princess out. Besides I do not deserve to hold the title with my current state."
"Nonsense, you are much better that you think. Please, come in." Joy motioned into the room she came out.
Luna had to admit it was cozy, the carpet was down to a deep green but wall was the same; however, the room was dimly lit which made it feel very warm, like a second home. There were two light brown foreleg chairs next to eachother and a deep red felt couch with one large seat that was buttoned in a grid pattern. It was rounded, like tub that was missing one side, with two cotton circular pillows: both of which had a button in the center. The two foreleg chairs both of which were blocky in shape but rounded on the seat and foreleg rests.
"Please, have a seat and relax." said Joy.
Luna took up her offer and layed belly down on the couch, while her unicorn therapist seated herself oposite on the foreleg chair.
"I just want to make it clear that I don't have any problems about him." Luna said.
"About who?" Joy said confused, "I was told that your job may be stressing you out. Your sister sent me a picture of the stack of papers on your desk when she sent me the scroll."
"I'm sorry," Luna apologized, "I just thought it was about something else."
"Well a breakup isn't that bad when you realize what good came out of it." Joy replied, "And this stallion wasn't good enough for you. Good riddence."
"Well it wasn't really a breakup, or a pony." Luna corrected her, "I lost him to the universe." Joy paused, a look of confusion rested on her face.
"Oh," she said, now somewhat aware of what happened. "I'm so sorry." Peaceful Joy saw a lone tear rolling down Luna's cheek. "Oh I didn't mean to upset you."
"You know what? I think I do need to talk about it." Luna said.
The unicorn took out a pencil and paper, "Start from the begining."
"It was about a month and a half ago. A strange thing crashed into the Everfree Forest, that strange thing was summoned here, to Canterlot, by my sister. It was attacked and defened itself and other ponys from the maws and claws of the timberwolves. I heard this and from there I thought of this thing as either a great and powerful creater, or a vicious repulsive beast. Latter, I was awoken from a ruckus downstairs. I was in a daze and didn't realize what I was looking at, and zoned out trying to remember what was going on. I remembered my sister said that the creature was dangerous, called a human, and that it was much different than a pony. I put those three things together and paniced. I charged my shot and fired. He went from in a dent to a deep hole in the wall. I regained my senses waiting for it to emerge, my magic ready. Out from the hole, the human came, and it looked so ridiculous." Luna began to giggle with tears starting to roll.
"What?" Joy said confused.
"Picture this, his skin was light and pale white in some places he was wearing a shirt that was like a 'T' and baggy jeans that had tears and holes. He was about 5' 5'', a few inches shorter than me. His hair was brown with a small hint of blond and it was about an inch or so long, all messy, and stuck up in the back a little. Best of all, he had the most stupid look on his face; he went from shocked to supprised and other odd faces." Luan snickered, "I kept my laugher in until he started making jokes about my sister."
"So, you liked him?"
"Oh, very much!" Luna giggled.
"So what happened to him?" Joy finally asked, "How did he go?"
"Well, because he took down the changeling queen, I did soften her defenses, Pinkie Pie decided to throw him a party."
"Please tell me he got to enjoy his own party."
Luna shook her head, "Sadly the remaining changelings used him to bring back an old enemy. Ironically, this Leo that came back, was nothing like Logan. It's like they were complete opposites. While Logan was mildly quiet and goofy looking, Leo was much more strong and loud. He had black, long flowing hair, with great muscle tone. He really looked serious, he had brown eyes and determination was in them. After an the excruciatingly painful process of using Logan to bring back Leo, they swirled Logan up into a magic tornado and ripped him into oblivion."
"I'm so sorry," Joy said.
"I'm sure he's happier now," Luna said. "But I still am having trouble getting over the loss."
"Well, it's clear that after so long with out loosing a friend. This has the same weight of looing the first friend. Luna, have you ever heard the phrase 'With old friends comes new friends'?" Luna shook her head, "What it means is that when old friends go you make new ones."
"I don't think that will work since I can't really make many friends."
"Your sister says you always have had two with you at all times. Two in armor." Joy hinted.
"Oh how could I forget my two ruffians?!" Luna smiled excitedly.
"You were fine before Logan was here and you can still be happy even after he's left."
"Yes... you're right. Thankyou Miss Joy. Now, there is still the problem of his belongings."
"What's the problem?" Joy asked, confused.
"Well old things tend to give me some nostalgia." Luna said, "And his belongings could be considered precious artifacts, so I can't throw them away."
"Why don't you just look through them and then just put it away, this, also, will help you move on."
"That sounds... okay." Luna said unsurely.
"Don't worry you'll be fine. It may seemed flawwed, but trust me it works."
"I'll come back to you for some help if it doesn't," Luna said standing up. She shook Peaceful Joy's hoof and walk out.
As she was heading home she noticed a few stars out of place. Luna felt the peace of the night come to her, and cut out the sad memory of Logan and bring it to those stars. She moved them into place to fit with the night sky: each seemed to protest the change. But, Luna looked at her work and thought the sky looked beautiful and better than before, and any other pony up that night would agree.

"My lord, we have found it."
"So, what's the problem? Why tell me? Just do it!"
"Well the passage is blocked by a rock and..."
"Where are we now?"
"The gem fields, my lord."
"Dig under it you fools. Make a tunnel. In fact, connect it with the main."
"Yes, my lord."
"Once that water is secured, nothing with be able to stop me. Not the Purple one, not the blue one, not even Celestia."
