Portrait of a Ruined Country

It's been a few days since my arrival, i finished the weapons for the deathscythe and handed the blueprints for the wing gundam to maud, we talked for awhile about the gundam and its features and maud actually asked to add some of the equestrian technologie, namely a technologie based teleportation device for the pilot to escape if the unit is lost, its unstable so the unit left behind always go full black hole and collapse on itself but i considered it a bonus, it would prevent potential lost units to be stolen. Afterward i asked to see luna to have some questions answered and it lead to a very, very long explanation by twilight sparkle who invited herself into me and luna's conversation. She was actually here to ask me questions but this woman love to share knowledge. After they had left to 'check on the preparation', i made sure to go through what i learned and remember it since it was common knowledge in this world.

I learned that in the past, meaning a few years ago, equestrians could bring out their ancestors abilities depending on what kind of tribes they were the closest to between unicorn, pegasus and titan(earth pony wouldn't fit into the more serious lore '^^).

The unicorn like twilight sparkle would be able to gain control of the surrounding magic and use spell by spawning a incorporal horn on their head, the stronger the connection to the ancestor the more defined and corporal the horn, twilight for example could spawn a physical horn just like sunset.

The pegasus like rainbow dash from luna's say can form wings but instead of being incorporal they are more or less defined and the size vary depending of the connection, rainbow for example had small wing but very defined meaning she had power and agility but lacked endurance while fluttershy had large wing but looking more like frail butterfly wings partially shredded at the tip since they were unstable, while she could fly for a long time she but had little strength, from the description it looked a lot like my wing of light.

The titan are a different matter at all, they are the only one still able to actively use their abilities, while the other two powers could be affected by the surrounding since they needed generating a new body part the titan rely purely on empowering the existing ones making dispeling it impossible, they can literally increase their body mass and muscle ratio, they also can harden bones and skin to metal level of resistances. When wars started spawning all over the world and equestria was assaulted the citizen of the titans tribe was the one who prevented its immediate fall. Even here in ponyville there was a man named macintosh who fought three MS barehanded and won, he didn't survive the aftermath, namely because of blood loss and torn apart muscle till the bones showed but he is dearly remembered. To think i have its sister and cousin piloting two of my gundam actually made me proud, i'm talking about applejack and pinkie pie, it also explain why they lack wounds contrary to the others, also make me scared of what happened to maud since she is said to be the most connected equestrian to the titan bloodline in history.

In the end it leave the alicorn princesses, in the rock-paper-scissor mechanics that the other three kind were in the past, the unicorn unable to put down a titan who was serious, titan unable to reach or defend against pegasis assault and pegasus lift being dispelled by unicorn magic, the alicorn were a pickaxe, they have the three but they each boost the others, forget about incorporate body part, they had true wing and horn and still have dammit, they just don't wear it all the time because it would be a waste of energy.

Still the most important thing is...

'they move the sun and moon...or so they say but at this point i could believe anything. I'm a human mind living inside a gundam body with an i.a inside me and i was sent into another planet filled with anthropomorphic old Greece mythological beasts by a probably almighty space and time being who's only activity is going from one nerd convention to another and wanted my old life to hideout from mortal humans, yeah immortal being controlling the sun and moon? Meh ah'm not impressed mate.'

'oh yeah sure i'm fine, i think i've just gone fully numb at this point, i'll just wait here for the princesses to come back while meditating on the fact my original world was the most boring shit ever created and i was actually far more unlucky than i thought on a universal scale than just on the human scale. Wait scratch that, humanity as a whole got a shitty start, no magic no super strength or power of flight and certainly not immortal benevolent rulers who could say fuck to gravity at a stellar scale either.'

"Yes it was!"

"What was what?"

I turned to celestia followed by luna and twilight.

"Nothing, hacks and me chatting, what bring you here princess celestia? And shouldn't you two be checking some kind of preparations?" I said pointing Luna and twilight.

Luna grinned,"We did and everything is done, kshatriya, would you do us the honor of visiting ponyville?"

"Really?! I can? I was sure I was too big to enter the residential area..."

Yes because since coming here I was staying at the hangar, it's the only place constructed with MS moving around taken into account.

Celestia advanced,"we made some arrangements and a few road were repurposed for MS travel, you won't be able to move all over the town but you should be able to visit it, we also started to prepare the duel spot and build the gundam, maud decided to focus on yours since the development team of golden age want to build there new model themselves."

I clapped my hand, "awesome I can finally see what an alien town look like!"

They looked at me for a moment before twilight reacted, "ohhh that's true, for you we are alien just as much as you are for us." she then tensed, "so what is about to happen is the first extraterrestrial assessment of equestria living arrangements! Princesses were not ready, all my book show that first impression in cultural interaction is very important and-"
"It's fine twitwi, I know your not at you best I'll take it into account if it help, but honestly the building themselves Don't interest me, the peoples do."

It seemed to ease her nerves a bit and the princesses did a small bow of thanks, "since all is said and done, why don't Luna and I show you the way?"

I stood up and nodded, we walked to the door and they opened slowly, I walked out behind the equestrian, and observed the town, it was closer to a city with how many buildings there was. The city was built upward, the walls covered with buildings either sculpted into the walls or dangling from bridges passing through the empty space and connecting different hangar doors to outside allowing MS to leave the pass through the city and defend the city on every side, in the middle was a tower reaching the ceiling and giving the bridges a middle point support.

"T-that is one big city."

Celestia smiled to me as she climbed on a floating platform with the luna and twilight, the platform flew them up to eye level and stayed in front of me guiding me forward along the road, "we are very proud of it, it's presently housing more than 350 000 equestrians. From bottom to top is the mining facilities and the factories, next is the MS and weaponry storage where we are right now. Higher is the residential area reserved for the military personnel and even higher is the civilians residential area followed by the government official's living/working area."

She pointed each level when presenting them but i noticed sh didn't point at the highest level, "what the last one? At the highest level."

The princesses just smiled and it was twilight who answered like she was saying a motto, "at the highest point is the most vital necessities for all, the farms and food productions."with a finger raised and eye closed.

"-truer words were never spoken princesses."

"I agree with hacks, it's the most basic yet vital element needed. And the roof is the only place where the sun could reach the crops."

"I just wish the noble would agree, they are less numerous since canterlot fall but actually prove to be even more picky on their privileges."

I couldn't answer before my attention was drawn to the side of the road, i frowned internally as i saw equestrians in damaged cloths and a little too thin to be healthy.

Luna followed my eye and looked down sadly, "we try to provide for all but it prove to be harder everyday, some are bound to slip between the crack and suffer more than we'd like. They are not beggar and all have works, but the rations distributed are still too small and nutrient lacking."

'hacks do we have anything on the colonies?'

-affirmative, we possess all knowledge of the colonies sirius, may i inquire why?

'they had limited resource and space so they should have means to produce healthy food fitting for our situation.'

-checking data base..... I found the required technologie, should i start printing them through the nanites?

'yes, we'll share them with the princess for free, i am not nearly greedy enough to earn money on the back of starved peoples.'

-very well kshatriya.

I turned to the princess, "hacks is printing a few thing to help you produce more nutritive and abundant foodstuff. Free of charges."

Celestia eyes widened, she bowed followed by luna and twilight. "that..is a welcome gift kshatriya, we will be sure to repay your kindness in kind one day."

"No problem princesses, let's just change subject, what happened with the grandeen?" i said eager to divert the growing attention of the equestrian who looked at us with wide eyes after the princesses bowed.

The three girl noticed the peoples around and twilight answered while the princess waved to the peoples around with smiles to show all was alright. "the grandeen was in good condition but still damaged, we decided to rework it instead of just repair it."

"Will it become a full original work? Maybe even a custom units?"

She nodded, "custom units, the crew and commander are decided but top secret."

"Will it be fully operational for the next operation?"

She started to be uncomfortable,"no, too much repair needed. It will be able to help but will be completed at 75% at best and lack most of its secondary weaponry. The main one should be ok for a few shot."

"Ok, i won't ask more if it's top secret, what about the gundam wing?"

She breathed in relief,"it's almost complete. Its only missing the new reactor and the outer plating. The testing was made using the old reactor and could only operate one limbs at a time."

I nodded and looked around, the city was simple but brightly colored, equestrians were walking in the street and stopped to look at me in wonder, couldn't blame them. I was the biggest MS ever made from memory, the kshatriya was already bigger than most MS and i was 1.5x time bigger and with my ominous black and green color i also understood the slight fear in some passerby.

We reached a bridge and walked on it, i wasn't worried about my weight since the bridge was made for MS anyway, it was big enough for 3 MS side by side and still had more room on each borders for 10 pedestrian to walk side by side.the bridge railing was MS size probably for MS not to fall on the lower level in case of accident or mechanical mishaps.

I looked down over the railing and saw the usine, my question about the lacks of smoke was answered when i saw the pipe going from the factory to inside the walls,

'they probably redirect the smoke away from the city.'

The factories were mostly foundry and industrial forges but also what looked glass workers but using jewel. The princess and twilight explained that those factory mostly 'grew crystal and then converted them to steel and other metals by breaking them to powder and melting them together through very precise mix.

-fascinating, i recommande asking for informations about those mix as one of our future payments.

'agreed.'

We reached the center tower and took an elevator , we passed the military personnel area and even the civilian area but the elevator was slow and my sight outstanding so i could easily see the street of each.

The military area was filled with wounded and people with prosthetics, i swear there's was probably more artificial limbs then biological one and that was the case for men, woman, young and old. The varieties of shape the limbs took was also clear to see, some had very natural looking one and other were simply shocking, i saw a woman with sword instead of legs from the knee down and a boy barely old enough to be called an adult with two arm splitting at the elbow into four and moving on a grafted wheelchair at the hips, wich explained the four hospital i found thanks to the the red crosses.

'what kind of war lead to barely adult boy being hurt so much...'

The equestrian civilians were better off but not spared either, many were wounded and this time some didn't even had prosthetics. The level was made with practicality in mind and even with the many color the equestrians used it was still clear the place was just unnaturally sad. I also noted at least eight potential orphanage into one look over, most resident were girls strangely, the army was 50/50 so it wasn't conscription.

"Princesses, why is the gender ratio is this flawed?"

The three stiffened in anger. Celestia answered with a voice of cold hatred. "among our enemies, some are targeting male with the intention to force the remaining womens, to surrender to preserve our species thanks to their males."

Luna growled, "disgusting waste of breath! All of them!"

My eye disappeared, "what enemies?"

Twilight was the one to answer since the princesses were brooding, "the saddle arabian, zebra, centaur and changelings. Until now the centaur and saddle arabian are the worst. The zebra have a matriarchal society and simply see male of other species as worthless, and changelings simply tend to overuse male to increase their numbers."

'hacks put the saddle arabian and centaur on the blacklist and the other on the watchlist.'

-done kshatriya, what are the specifics of each list?

'black for total destruction of any leading powers, and watchlist is self explanatory.'

The mood didn't stay sour too long, we soon reached the government executive's level. It was a fairing a lot better than the other with more decorations and useless feature like fountain and statue, even flower pot along the windows showing outside, the first i have seen inside the city. In the street was mostly scholars and high ranked military, some messenger and finally what easily stood out as nobilities members.

'figurs golden age taste in clothes would be from her noble origins.'

-kshatriya, i lack any kind of data on clothes aside military one and still find those to be hideous, should i scan my preceptor for problems?

'nope hacks, you just got common sense, something most rich-from-birth peoples simply does not have or worse look down upon.'

"We need to make a short stop here, i have to check on the legal side of the 'friendly' duel between the wing gundam and the daughtress neo."celestia said.

I grinned internally, 'the neo ah? If it's the same as the one from gundam this duel will be closer to an execution.'

"While we are talking about that, i heard they refused to use your new reactor for...belief reason."

Luna snorted, "belief?! 'to not give you any saving grace when they prove you inferiority' they said. they are simply so full of themselves, they preach the golden age of equestria but are far from seeking to start a new one. The sky know we could use one."she whispered at the end.

Twilight smiled at princess luna, "i heard you asked for the prototype of the new reactor to be put inside the reworked bertigo princess, how was it?"

Luna mood soared again as she slammed a hand in twilight back, "it was marvelous twilight, my bertigo was restored to its full glory and more, when miss pie offered to apply the new modification on my bertigo i was more than thrilled and by my moon we were not disappointed! Right sister?"

Celestia noded with a smile,"indeed, it was your loudest huzza yet lulu."

Luna cheeks reddened,"sister~~, this was a secret!"

"*chuckle* sorry to embarrass you in front of your friends luna."

'friends...'

What a nice feeling, it's been so long since i had a friend...i shook my head and looked at the trio, the two princess where messing with each other like only sisters could and twilight was simply fussing around them a little panicked. It was a simple thing but it made me notice somethings, i recalled my walk up here, the face of the equestrians i saw, the orphans, wounded and soldiers.

'smile, they had smile. The hardship they are facing even now has yet to snuff out hope for those people.'

I chuckled lightly, but with my size it was enough to grab most of the attention around,

*chuckles*

"And what do a the soulless abomination of metals laugh about?"

*sigh* i turned to the newcomer, "what do you seek by insulting me today rotten eggs oops! I mean golden age?"

Her eye narrowed, "i am here to see what retarded our beloved princess from our meeting."

While none voiced it i think all four of us noted the princess not being plural.

Celestia turned to luna, "why don't you take twilight and kshatriya to the roof, i'll join you later."

We parted way and even if celestia was smiling i couldn't help feel like we were leaving her to a bunch of parasite infested scavenger.

The rest of the visit was spent without seeing celestia again, she only sent word that she was hold up by more noble swarming her court. i tried to sheer up luna along twilight but even her was affected by celestia being absent. instead we walked along the orchard and farm spreading under the glass dome making up the roof, the white pillar along the edge and supporting the roof were also letting the wind and sun pass and it made for a beautiful scenery, even with the canon every few meter and sentry along the edge observing the distant for possible attack. but in the end i couldn't take my mind off celestia and the nobles.

'right now it would be to dangerous with my precarious position but when my place among equestria is secured i may have to clean up the nobility rank, you know? weed out the political field.'

-i recommend learning the laws of equestria before going down this pass, one must first learn the rule to play.

'you got it.'

after returning to the hangar i started working on my "micro secondary bit body project" or MS-BB for short, it was basically a smaller sized remotely controlled bit, hacks had done most of the planning and i just had to personalise it to my preference, it still lacked the sex-add on but i have hack working on it using other franchise technologies.

"i can't just make a small sized me, its too energy consuming, i want at least 24 hours of autonomy between charges, solar panel? that could work, maybe the..." i was interrupted in my mumbling by rainbow dash bursting in at the handlebar of a hovering motorbike.

"kshatriya! the wing isn't ready and golden age pulled string for the duel to be tomorrow!"

*shigh*"fucking bitch can't even play fair until the combat. alright, lead the way to wing gundam, maud is probably with it trying to finish it on time, she is aware of this news right?"

dash hovered in front of me, leading the way. "off course, she the one who told me to call you, she said you finished the weapon for shy in barely two day."

"yep, not that hard but i was only able to do that because i was doing nothing else, take a lot of focus to build stuff with nanites. also cool bike dash."

"thanks, twilight and pinkie helped me build it, i couldn't let something like the entire world magic going crazy take my title of fastest flyer ever!"

used to her boasting from her regular visit to ask me question on the wing i just shook my head with a chuckle."i don't doubt it dash but does it have more than speed to it?"

"you bet, the blade can actually be heated, i already took down four MS with it!"

"now that is awesome!"

the rest of the day i helped finishing the wing, it didn't have its grenade launcher but honestly the blade was already overkill against the daughtress, i also asked dash to put on a show for me, i even asked her to pull out one of my fantasme finishing move to use, she was more than happy to oblige after testing the wing and loving every second of its fast almost instant response time, she didn't get to try flying with it but i can recognize fangasm induced arousal pretty easily, and dash was pretty moist leaving the wing gundam, can't help to poke fun at her when she actually reach the sky with it, in both sense.

'And tomorow, she'll get to try it out. this will be fun.'
