Luna was pretty angry i didn't tell her i was new to this job, she did calm down after i pointed out she didn't ask my past experience before hiring me so it ended alright. After our discussion she told me the city was to be abandoned, they simply didn't have the mean to keep it or the population to keep it active so we would leave through the walled road with the taurus and grandeen leaving ahead of us, the wall are actually a creation of a mare named sunset shimmer. when a city is disconnected it unbuild itself and the materials from it are slowly sent back to the connected city still in use along the roads wall, from what i understood its possible using a special source of energy that while not nullified is severely weakened and when before it was some almighty defense tool it now only can power their city defense, they also don't want to risk putting them into a mobile suit and lose them in battle so instead they are kept hidden into a city called ponyville, the new capital of equestria.'

"Hey! mercenary, you ready to move?"

'i turned to the lieutenant named rainbow dash, she was far from nice with me but i did mess with her when we first met so i'll let her poke me for a while.'

"I am ready lieutenant dash, will i still be flying over head to have a clear line if view?"

"Yeah, we couldn't repair my daughtress so you are our eyes for this, don't. mess. this. up!"

"Aye aye lieutenant~~"

She grumbled and left to her daughtress while the guards near us laughed.

-advice, antagonizing our newest allies may not be a good idea.

'don't worry hack, it's just family friendly stuff.'

I moved outside soon followed by the damaged daughtress of lieutenant dash, the vertigo of princess luna and the three daughtress still operational who pulled all that would be kept from the city, weapons, damaged MS. The pilots who had lost their MS would drive the grandeen home ahead of us since the city we moved toward was aware of the situation and would let them in without luna. beside they had wounded people with them and they needed health care in fear their situation aggravated. I thought there was no one left alive aside of us inside the city but turn out that while a part of the citizens had left those who were assigned to the wall defenses stayed, equestria didn't use to have an army beyond the guards and relied on draft. The drafted citizens had to be formed and it was done by posting them on the safest military posts, the walls. From time to time they would train to pilot MS but with equestria limited machines only the bests were picked.

We passed the gate and after walking a few minute i looked behind to see the wall surrounding the city crumble and slowly retract on itself.

"*whistle* princess, even after you told me i had a hard time believing it but it's true, the wall seem almost alive."

"This is the greatest accomplishment of head researcher sunset shimmer, it's why our wall never truly fall, they are damaged but if too much damage is taken the wall can literally escape and leave an empty city easy to retake later, not that we are at this point yet."

"-ingenious, but can the wall be reformed later or do it need to be built by hand?"

"It can, but it need balises to know how and where to expand. We also need to dig out the space for the weapons to be placed using special tools."

'cool, this wall is impressive, hacks do you think it's possible to replicate this technology?'

-negative, the wall control system, material and even source of energy is either not in the scanner range or too alien.

'bummer, I'm actually surprised they have technologies we don't but use MS from gundam...'

-correction, they are using MS looking like the one from gundam but their inners workings is very different, the bertigo of princess Luna seem to be the most advanced despite being the oldest pointing toward a loss of technologies along the years and even then It seem to have used a system of gems sending informations from the cockpit to the limbs probably using magic but it was short-circuited and now use simple cables.

'so they used wireless technology to control their MS? Don't seem to be a good idea...'

-affirmative, It probably wasn't and and still isn't, their rework of the MS Control worked but the motor are not used to receive such direct and strong order and it make precise control a nightmare. Combined with the low output of the reactor used by equestria it's not a surprise how even the bertigo of the princess had such trouble against just three Taurus and a handful of aries.

'wait wait wait! The energy source isn't the only problem? Then my gift won't solve the problem! Luna count on me to solve her problem with the ultra-compact fusion reactor...'

-i advise asking the princess to meet the equestrians responsible for the MS development.

I nodded,"princess, who is in charge of MS development? Hacks and me have noticed a default inside your MS basic conception."

Luna hummed in thought,"while I am mostly a woman of battlefields and know only a few non-military government employees personally I know the head of the development is named golden-age, a woman of high birth and renewed for her deep knowledge of the MS from equestria golden era, she was fascinated by my bertigo even if she called it 'non-standard', she is sadly expert of post nightmare moon era MS used by the old sun guard, they are her favorites."

-....

'its bad right? Like really bad, they handed development has in creating new stuff to a conservationist and now I have goosebump without having skin, so it must really be bad.'

-it indeed does not bode well, the chance of this 'golden-age' impeding the development with her conservative point of view is 83% even if involuntary.

Alright, just need to stay calm, it may not be that bad, I can still salvage that boat....I hope.

"Beside, you will meet the whole search team, i can't allow a modification as big as you propose without professional's output, the replacement of the fusion reactor does not fit into miscellaneous modification but do tell, what kind of problem did you found?"

"A big one, the control systems of your MS were hastily adapted and it only allow rough control with too strong or too little response from the limbs, felt any of that while piloting your bertigo?"

she slowed down,"I did, i thought it was only the power source who was unstable, sometime producing too much or too little, do you have a solution?"

"Two choice, rework all the existing MS frames which will cost less resources than option two but take more time since we'll have to build part then disassembles the MS and rebuild them. Option two is i hand you the plans of a few new models of MS to build."

She stopped making the whole group stop,"you would give us the plan of your people MS? Just like that?"she said in a 'what the fuck way?!' so brilliant i almost burst out a vessel holding back my laughter.

"Depend, do you have the resources to build them? The manpower to make them? What kind of MS you need? I have hundred of schematic and plan available even without counting the weapon and the things that could be weaponized, its those i don't want to release."

She stood there a bit before she resumed walking, "thank you, equestria has not seen or even received goodwill for a long time, we missed it."

"No problem, i pride myself over being woman of enjoyable company" i said in a joking high and mighty voice, i waited a bit, i then did a full reverse and continued in a snarky voice,"being a dick would be a dumbass thing to do to uphold that ain't it?"

It got laughs and chuckles out of everyone, even the princess and rainbow.

'not all is bad, they still got motivation and a sense of humor so nothing's lost yet, who's the boss? i'm the boss!

-kshatriya, i detect hostile approaching, 12 taurus in flight mod and a modified leo-r.

"Tch, princess we got 13 enemy coming, 12 taurus and a special MS, a leo-r, is it perhaps a leader's unit?"

Luna sped up,"dammit! It's probably princess gilda's unit, she's the child of emperor blackbeak and the one in charge of the equestria conquest, the grandeen probably sent them the info that i was understaffed and she brought all the taurus models they had in the area."

"No need to panic, i can easily destroy them you know?"

"But you won't! the only reason equestria as yet to fall is thanks to gilda being in charge of the invasion, she isn't liked by her father and siblings, the former mostly giving her the oldest model of MS and MA the griffin empire has and the latter sabotaging her effort to build a true attack force by sewing disorder in her army ranks, if she die or fail too badly one of her sibling will replace her under blackbeak order and with them the more advanced units of griftania!"

"So not kill or destroy the pursuers? Damn i don't have many non-lethal weapon you know?"

'i guess i have the mega particle disperser in my arms, i could unleash a weak burst to force them to lands, and they still wouldn't know its a short range weapon either. Hacks can you use the data from the taurus we faced to evaluate the amount of mega particules amount needed?'

-affirmative, i am loading the left arm now.

I flew backward to look at the enemy closing from behind, the taurus were all a deep black but the leo-r was a light brown were it was originally light blue and white were deep blue, the hair were purple like the eyes and she wielded a heated spear instead of the plasma spear, she also had a whip at the right hip. I couldn't study anymore after a scream reached all the canal.

"Come back here you bastard! Give me back the grandeen and the taurus and fucking die!"

'oookay~~she's insane~~nope nope nope nope.'

I pointed my opened left hand toward them, the arm glowed red and four rod came out from the wrist and rapidly heated up.

"Sorry crazy girl, you represent too much risk to fight."

"you coward!"it's the last thing she said before i unloaded the radiant wave, it exploded with green light instead but worked just fine, the taurus lost control and halfway transformed before crashing followed by the leo-r who skidded and actually landed right despite the perturbed controls she must be experiencing. she still fell to her knee right afterward thought.

-the burst was powerful enough to destroy most flight and communications systems, we will reach the next city in 25 minutes at this speed, the chance of them attempting assault again are null.

"well done kshatriya, you stopped them and showed just enough cowardice to prevent gilda to lose her position of leader in the war against equestria, we will probably still see an increase in griffin incursion but not a new more supported leader appearing." luna said with cheer.

"i'm not a coward! it's called deception."i snapped.

"sorry to break it to you mercenary but it doesn't sound better."rainbow said with a -i bet- shit eating grin.

'oh~~you want to play chicken?'had someone looked at me they could have sworn i had a vein pulsing on my forehead.

simple chapter to set up some character appearances, the first act will include a few basic character, if everything goes as i plan the next chapter will have some 'pie' in it, it should have been in this one but i already have reached the ~2000~ max words i set for a chapter, i don't like long chapter since it allow for less ellipse and just casual conversation doesn't really add to the story this early with not enough settings.

so next chapter is reaching ponyville and meeting a few more main characters and add more to this equestria lore.
