Prologue: What lies at the end of the tunnel
Breathing slowly, i try to settle my heart to a more stable rate. This was “Official” First Contact with them, a whole room full of em’.
“I Don’t know if i can do this.” my hands are shaking, my knees bouncing with nervous energy.
A black chitinous hoof touches my shoulder from my hunched position.
“You’ve got this Z. Don’t forget, we’re right here if you need us.”
I glance up, seeing my friends.
Charma, a changeling. Her body a sleek black chitinous outer with blue eyes and a light blue underside. She wears a smile for me, though i can sense that she is nervous -even more so- as i am.
Bulk, a minotaur. His upper torso a deep brown tan with Grey fur. His arms are crossed in the usual fashion, and a grim look on his face.
“If any of them hurt you in anyway, just call and i'll pummel em.”
Prim, a griffon. With fur a bright white and plumage a black inky colour. She sits on her haunches, with a suppressed smile she tries to hide. Fidgeting all the while.
Keenwa, a cat person. His coat an olive brown. Sits beside me, a supportive arm over my shoulders.
“You’ve got this. We all believe in you.”
And finally. Pebble, a breezie. His body a light green and dark red. Stands perched atop my head. Looking down into my eyes.
“Stop, being, a wimp, already, and, get, out, there, already.”
These are my friends, been that way since i first met all of them. . . with the occasional bump (more like roadblock).
I am Zero, a human with white skin with a short cut black mop of hair. My eyes a brilliant blue surrounding a white iris.
“Thanks guys. . . alright, i think im ready.”
With a few more supportive pats, hugs and the one kiss i got from Charma, i walk over to the doors separating me from 30+. . . other humans.
Stealing myself one last time, i nod to the “Guard” and he clicks the radio in his collar.
“He’s ready.”
The chattering and babble from the room ahead of me deadens, and the doors open from the inside.
Calmly walking into the room, keeping my vision to my front. I walk up a small set of stairs onto a platform towards a stand. . . at the very front of it.
Reaching the stand, i tap the microphone twice.
“Is this on?”
After a moment, i clear my throat.
“Hello, people of earth. My name is Zero, and let me be the first to say. . .”
