(Chapter 7 The Battle of Two Hills)
Previous ChapterNext Chapter(The battle of the To Hills)
A gust of wind blew my cape to the left as I stand on the walls of Breifne. One more day and it will be my second month here in Britannia.
Our scouts have reported that Aileach had made peace with Ulaid and had suckered in Airgialla to declare war on us. Airgialla is another Orc kingdom.
My hand clutched tightly on the rail guard nearly snapping it. How much more have to die until they realized that there is a better way. I don’t even know what that is but I know there’s another way instead of blood and Iron.
Every kingdom is pulling as much troops as they can for what the men are calling The Final Fight.

As it look on the map to see where the best spot would be to have our last defence take place.
I noticed a couple of hills just a little bit South-east from Breifne.
If we make it there now we can have a great defence to propel even a greater force then what they have.
It will take Aileach and Airgialla A week and a half to get to this particular spot.
If the new king Rupert is a fool he will attack before his reinforcements arrive. If he’s not a fool he will wait. It’s a win-win scenario for me.
I get the attention of the other kings and we set out immediately.
xxxxxxxxxx
As we arrive to the hills I noticed the biggest one and got to work.
Breifne citizens wanted to help before the enemy arrived considering we liberated them.
With my mindset we get to work.
Day 1
The hill we decide to put our base on didn’t have the trees like it’s brothers.
I didn’t want the enemy to use the trees for cover so I ordered them cut down and used for later.
At the exact same time I had guys build a trench all away around the hill hopefully to ease the coming battle.
Day 2
The second day we were halfway done with the trench and most of the trees were cut down.
Day 3
Scouts have reported that king Rupert army from the south is slowing down and waiting for its ally.
The trenches are almost done and all of the trees are cut down.
Day 4
With all the extra dirt from the trench we piled up behind it and use the wood from the trees to make sure it stays there.
The trench is 4 feet deep making the wall of the trench 8 feet tall.
Day 5
The Breifne had went home to be with their families as we finished the work.
Most of the trench is finally done and we have put rusty nails in the boards facing the enemy so that when they tried to climb up it would be brutal.
we have ladders to easily get over the trench, but soon we will have to remove them.
Day 6
The trench is finally complete which the men are calling the “deathtrap”.
We have some remaining dirt so I decided to make a ledge so that the Ballistas have an easier time firing.
We put the scorpions on little 7 foot makeshift towers to have a better range
Day 7
We mostly rested but a few of us made a month stock of water and food. The only problem is there’s not much place to put it so we secretly hide it on other Hills.
Day 8
We hunt down every animal and cut off the river so that the enemy will have no supplies if this is to last long.
Day 9
We was mostly resting until our scouts said that the enemy will arrive at around midday tomorrow.
Many were scared of the upcoming battle but I was confident that our defences would hold.
Day 10
I believe it’s around 11. Men ready for an earlier ambush lined the walls. Spirit, swords and axes ready to begin the “Final Battle”
We start seeing The enemy crossover the other hills some of them have shock looks as they take a look at our admitably fine wall.
One hill particular is where I can see several Kings and one particular goblin.
He was leading them all and was sitting a few chairs to watch the battle. I could not wait to see the look on his face when we hold back there hoard.

A few hours pass by and each group making sure to stay away from archery fire stand a bit away.
The sun is starting to beat down on my head and with all the fur I have, it’s kind of cooking me alive.
As I am watching for the enemy to make any sudden moves I noticed a book to my right on the wall. It had the title “The Lost One”.
I remember this was the exact same book that I had read before on the train. It looked a bit bigger than the last time I saw it. I was a little bit intrigue so I started to continue on… even though it scared the fuck out of me last time.
I read a few chapters a notice that things are starting to get interesting. I just finished chapter 8 and I was read to read chapter 9 until I heard something ahead of me.
I look up for a second and see. "Oh shit! an arrow!" With lightning speed and grab it before I could hit my eye. A second any later and I would not be ready to hold...
“Incoming!!!” I heard one of our men say.
I look back up and I see more arrows come flying at me. Without thinking I use the book as a shield and was able to protect myself from five different arrows.
When I looked back at the book and pouted a little bit, noticing that my new favourite story was ruined. Then before my very eyes it vanished.
Deciding to worry about the book later I look back at a horde that was coming towards us looking bigger than it actually was.
I look back at our group noticing a few injured and Dead. Our men started firing back shots but it was an organize charge that would never break by simple arrows.
I noticed an Orc that had fallen over in the commotion. I could see another valley of arrows from the enemy making its way to us.
I rushed to the Orc grabbing a wooden plank along the way and covered the Orc and I from the valley of arrows.
I turned to him. Had a look of amazement on his face. “No time to be amazed we have more coming get ready” I say to him. By now I can hear commotion at the wall knowing that the enemy is trying to climb over and get to us.
“Those arrows are going to be the end of us. Get to king Ea and get him to grab a group to take of those goddamn archers“
He nods his head then asked “what if he doesn’t listen to me?”
I look around me to see if I have anything to identify that it was me who sent him. I look at my tail and rip some black and purple fur and give it to him.
He takes the fur and runs off to see if you can fined King Ea.
I make my way back to the wall noticing that they are using ladders 'Danget' I thought as they use them to get over the wall. It still didn’t have much of a factor but those ladders were still dangerous.
I draw my sword as I noticed a goblin nearly getting over the wall. I used my sword and hit him in the eye. As I pulled the sword out I see an orc trying to get up next.
I quickly use the blood on my blade to splash him in the eyes. He screams in agony and falls over into the deathtrap.
As more come and go I could see arrows overhead. This time they were aimed at us but towards the enemy. With the archers decimating them many of them start to fall back.
Wave after wave after wave of arrows fell upon the enemy as they tried to retreat not many missing there mark.
I planted my sword into the ground getting rid of all the blood on it.
I see fire spirit beside me I grab them at the shoulder and tell them. “get me a…" I take a breath holding a ladder is harder than I thought "damage report” he nods his head and goes to find a damage report somewhere on the hill.
I look over to my left to the West and see that the sun is a bit over the horizon.
(King Rupert POV)
I continue to look at my map. How could we feal so easily they were barely defended. I ordered my general to be executed well I take over the lead. Luckily the new weapons had just arrived. It will be a night of flames.
(Alex POV)
It is a Full Moon Tonight and torches are all over the place to make sure that the enemy knows that we are still here. As I read over the report it’s not good.
About 500 dead or wounded, but about 700 dead of the enemy in the deathtrap, and 200 outside of the deathtrap. 50 prisoners were taken.
Luckily there artillery was too far out of range and did no damage to our defense.
I get on one of the makeshift towers that hold the scorpion and look at the enemy camp.
There’s a few torches but it seems like they’re gonna be settling down for the night… no... something's not right...
I grab a nearby torch and decided to toss it into the field. As it landed it shown nothing but if it wasn’t for my better eyesight I wouldn’t have noticed a Blackfoot.
“Battle stations!” I yell.
instantly men lined the walls and arteries take positions. Men that were looking out jump onto the scorpions and ballistas.
All is quiet…
“Archer!” I shout at one in particular. He stands at attention. His dark burnt stone indicating that he was a fire spirit.
“Shoot a fire arrow in the darkness.” I commanded.
He does sell in as zips over the ground many orcs with their dark skin can be seen.
Admittedly I give the command “Archers! Fire arrows! On my mark!" I wait to make sure we're set. "Fire!”
hundreds of arrows shoots through the sky letting it up as fire arrows at the ground in lighting it up or hit bodies and make them fall.
The Orcs full on charging now. I hurried to the wall repair into the Fendant like last time.
Eventually I start seeing Orc giants goblins and fire spirits come into the fray as well.
I can see both sides fighting violently but are both tired with the lack of sleep. Men trying to climb over the ladder to get to us fall into death trap without getting hit. Some of us haven’t even stuck in down enemy yet as we are too tired to wield a sword.
This goes on for hours some men even passing out on the spot. Then the enemy begin to retreat. The enemy barely inflicted casualties on us for their surprise attack was completely destroyed.
I hear huge Footsteps. It’s behind me as I see Gabe coming close.
Gabe yawns and it becomes contagious.
The sun is just over the horizon now and we’re both smiling knowing that we have one and that our defences have hold. There was nothing they could defeat us now.
Me and Gabe both chuckle to each other Venice face automatically turns to shock. He’s not staring at me anymore and is looking behind me.
I turned around to see goblin his left hand has a fireball in it and in the other is a small case with some black powder inside.
I all of a sudden get a memory of this black powder but I am still not sure what it is. This black powder is all over the dead bodies some of them getting up and holding even more black powder.
Then I remember it’s-“your majesty get down” I hear Gabe’s voice yell as he gripped my shoulder and throws me to the hill.
As he throws me I see the goblin light up the gunpowder! There is a huge explosion blowing up the wall and Gabe, like many others, is engulfed in the flame.
I feel my head connect with something but that was all as everything went dark
xxxxxxxxxx
I can hear screams in the darkness. Some are grants some are roars pain. I can feel my vision come back to me.
My head feels like it made contact with a train. I hit rocks before but I was always able to prepare and put up a small magic shield before hitting it and save some of the damage.
But when I put my right hand on my fourhead I was met with a warm liquid. I move my hand back to see it’s covered in blood.
I get up my ears are ringing loudly.
I looked back at the wall seeing that it’s completely torn up. Men That look like a blur to me cover the field. The second attack was supposed to fail. how much men did they have in reserve.
I look around thinking that I forgotten something. I have my sword and my bow but what am I missing… gabe!
I quickly stand up making my way over to battlefield. I trip over and noticed my leg. It seems badly bruised but luckily it’s not broken.
I start crawling I need to find Gabe. The men are starting to look like actual beings instead of blurs. Our lines seem to be falling as their reserve unit well rested.
I stand up again as I make it to the line. As a goblin tries to cut off my head with a sword I quickly grab it not caring for the additional wound. I yank the sword from his grasp and use it to cut him in the stomach.
He drops riving in pain so I just move onto the next. Even though I’m exhausted I cut down my enemy is trying to get to Gabe. Hasn’t even occurred to me that I’m using enemy sword.
My men are starting to push the enemy back to the wall that’s when I noticed a body.
I wouldn’t have noticed it if I wasn’t familiar with his face. His chard and flaming skin as Gabe laid on the ground.
I rush over to him, he’s missing his legs and his magic is gone. I quickly check a pulse but… nothing.
The battle rages on and I am dumbfounded now realizing that I have lost a great friend.
I can feel tears running down my eyes... I need to pull myself together there is a battle to be one. but I stay there. I can feel my vision going a little bit black. Was I passing out.
I can feel dark imbrace me like it did the first time I arrived here in this crazy world. I slowly begin to fall asleep but there’s something odd about this darkness this time. I can slightly see red.
Author's Note
As I’m working on the book I hear a knock from behind. I can already guess who it is and I’m slightly not pleased. How the hell was I supposed to explain this to him.
“It’s open” I yell
In comes moon from “The Lost One” (go check it out) with a smile on his face.
“So how did Alex enjoy the book?” He asked as the smell of blood and smoke fills the room
“He really enjoyed it” I said kinda concerned.
“Well anyways, I need to finish work on it so do you mind if I have a back?” Moon asked slightly dusting something off himself.
“Well... you see” I say as I slowly bring of the book.
His demeanour changed as he saw the book. Immediately he yanked it out of my hand and says.
"nooooo my book *Holds up a book filled with arrows and sighs* might take awhile to get back to mint condition..." He looks at it sadly holding it like a child "My book..."
“Anyways I am sorry, and I kinda have to get back to the book so do you mind if I can have it again later?” I ask.
He gives me a glare stands up and walks out of the room.
And quickly comes back in grumbling about cartels and not letting someone ride him again and gives me the book before vanishing wherever the door leads to
