The Light

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The underbelly of the city was teeming with the undesired, unlike the pristine of the upper class the slums of the city held no rules, ponies did whatever they wanted when they wanted, no pony cared for anyone but their own well being, so much so that another new pony in the slums wasn’t big news.

The small stallion though he walked slowly as though he was still getting used to the limbs. No one paid any attention to him as he took in the world around him. Soon he came upon a small gathering of ponies with one standing on a wooden box and was speaking loudly about a new religion.

The pony stopped at looked on, it thought for a moment, if it was going to find the light it would need to have some of these ponies under his control. He didn’t move as the other ponies started to walk away and soon he was standing in front the preaching pony. When it was finished they looked over the dwindling crowd and smiled.

“You are the chosen,” the pony said stepping down the box; he approached the few phones who remained “brother and sisters you wish to be enlightened?”

Those who stayed all looked at the pony with eyes of excited foals; the head pony looked at them all his smile growing as he did.

“Follow me and you will be enlightened,” the pony said as he turned and walked, the other ponies followed close behind, the small stallion followed as well the thought of using these ponies came to mind

As the pony now calling himself Reverend Light, he led the new followers deeper into the slums of the city so far that the city’s concrete structure started to change landscapes to that of make shift structures and tents.

The ponies followed Reverend Light till they came to a wooden entrance; he had not said a word since he left but his smile never faltered. As they neared the wooden entrance the ponies that stood at guard bowed and looked as he passed.

“This is the sanctuary our home,” said the Reverend “here, you will learn it all you will be enlightened.

The ponies entered into a dark area, illumined only by the flickering lights of strategically placed candles.

“This is really scary,” a mare whispered as she followed him

“Don’t worry all will be answered soon,” explained the Reverend as he was joined by two other stallions dressed in red cloaks, they placed another cloak on the Reverend “you shall be reborn in our blood pit; you shall be our breather and shall learn our scriptures.”

“But,” began one of the ponies but was stopped when they entered into a large open hall

Many ponies dressed in the same red cloak lined the room and were humming a chant. To the centre of the room a pool filled with a red liquid. The new members stopped in the center of the room confused all, except the small stallion who stared at the pit.

“My brethren,” began the Reverend “today is an auspicious day, today we have the new enlightened ones, the ones who will walk with us into the light, they shall be reborn into our ranks.”

The cloaked ponies said nothing the silence of the room was deafening, from the other side of the room they placed it on the floor in front the ponies.

“Now, walk into the pit and be renewed as one of us,” said the reverend in a loud voice that made the cloaked ponies hum in agreement, his smile grew to an uneasy smile, he walked up to the pit and spun dramatically “you will be filled with light!”

The small stallion twitched at the word, he stepped forward and jerkily walked up the steps, his smile grew as he looked up at Reverend Light, first it started as a chuckle but then it grew to a full blown laughter.

“Yes, yes,” the Reverend exclaimed “join us in the light, what is your name young stallion.”

He stopped, suddenly, his laughter stopped and he looked at the Reverend’s smiling face. The stallion stared at him his eyes growing wide as his smile grew as well.

“L-Light,” the stallion stuttered “Light”

“Light, your name is light,”” Reverend exclaimed in so much glee that he twirled happily “you are destined to be a part of our ranks.”

The stallion’s head tilted as he began to chuckle again and in seconds he was standing in front of the Reverend, the room of ponies gasped as they watched the small pony move at insane speed.

“Give me the light,” the pony twitched

“What is it?” asked the Reverend

“You have the light?” asked the stallion

“T-the light will be-“ before the Reverend could finish the words his throat was bitten out with the strike of the a snake

“N-no light,” the stallion said in his shaky voice, he screamed suddenly making the area shake, the ponies in the room screamed in fear as they all lay witness “no…light”

The ponies tried to turn and run but the stallion noticed and teleported himself in front of them. His smile was unwavering as he looked at them. The cloaked ponies in front the crowd of escaping ponies were suddenly decapitated by the movement of a hoof.

“I am not at my full power,” the stallion said as his voice become even more stable than before, he looked at the ponies in front him “bow to me and you will live, decline and I will feast on your flesh.”

The ponies readily bowed their head as the small stallion’s eyes turned red, his smile never faltered as he as he walked through the ponies and walked up the stairs and kicked the dead body of the reverend into the pool of red dyed water.

“We shall raze this world,” he crackled “we shall find the light, and I will be free.’

“Master we don’t know where the light is,” said one of the ponies, the glare he received from the stallion made him flinch “b-but I think the princesses will know more.”

“Princesses?” asked the stallion

“The rulers of Equestria, Celestia and Luna” explained the pony

“Then,” began the stallion “they shall be the first to fall”

At that moment the stallion vomited a black ocean of blackness, the ocean covered the ponies all around, their sudden screams died immediately. As he did from the black ocean the arm of a large black creature shot up. Many more limbs shot up through the ocean.

“Good, my power is weak but soon,” the stallion said as his eyes glowed “princesses, I’m coming for you.”

The creatures pulled themselves from the ocean that receded into the stallion once again, the creatures of all shapes and sized but all bore fangs and claws, bowed to the stallion.
