Cards of fate
Legomena, what is said
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“My fate?” Ocellus asked.
Jinai nodded, “Yes, your fate,” He replied as he disappeared and reappeared above the deck, “Let me demonstrate.” He finished as he looked down towards the deck.
Ocellus watched as the deck floated up towards him. “Reveal to me, Deiknumena, Dromena, Legomena.” She heard him say; watching as the three cards of her fate floated in front of him. He laughed at what he saw. It was silent in the room for a few seconds. Until, Ocellus finally found her voice.
“Hey,” She began as she was struck with a sudden realization, “I though you said I was the owner of the deck. So, how are you using it?” She asked him.
“Yes, you are the owner of the deck,” Jinai confirmed his eyes staying glued to the cars in front of him, “But, since I am the former owner. I can only see the owner of the decks fate,” He explained finally turning his attention to her, “And, if you want I can give you the eyes of fate. The only thing I want in return is your fate.” He finished with a chuckle.
Ocellus grew confused, “What would you want with my fate?” She asked.
Jinai looked back at the cards; only to lift his hoof and pointed it at the first two, “Really, these two I'm not really interested in,” His attention then focused on the last one, “It's this one I'm actually interested in.” He finished.
“Why only that one?” She asked.
“You see,” Jinai began to explain, “These two cards represent past and present,” He said while motioning towards the first two cards. He then fixed his gaze on the last card, “But, this card represents the future. Your future to be exact.” He finished.
“My future?” Ocellus said in confusion before her eyes widened in realization, “You want my future!?” She almost yelled.
Jinai chuckled wickedly, “Yes, I can give you the eyes of fate. Only, if you will give me your future.” He replied while giving her a sinister smile.
Ocellus had to think about it for a little while. The eyes of fate would help her read the cards much better. But, she had a feeling there was something he was not telling her. Something that was possibly very important for her to know. She then shot him a glare.
“So, why would you want my fate?” She asked him.
“Lets just say; even fates hate what they have.” He responded with a chuckle.
To say she was confused would be a complete understatement. But, what he just said, she finally noticed something. Why would fates hate what they have? She thought about it for a while; until a idea popped into her head. She faced her desk and took out a piece of paper.
Jinai watched as she called for the three cards. He really didn't care about what she was doing. All he cared about was her Legomena. Eventually she faced him again; only this time she had a serious look on her face. She then motioned for him to step closer to her. When he was close enough; he saw the three cards that lay in front of her. All of the cards were cup cards. The first was the five of cups. While as for the middle card it showed a mare with her back turned; walking inside what looked to be a caved with a river. Behind her were a set of cups neatly placed on a rock. The cards name was the eight of cups. He then looked at the last card. It was the image of the inside of some families home. It showed a stallion and a mare, cuddling happily together. Along with a small filly in between them. The mare was also hold a small foal in her arms. Next to them stood a pair of older ponies; possibly the grandparents. All around them flowers hung amongst the rafters. On the floor around all of them though were cups. The card was the ten of cups.
Jinai looked at her, “So,” He spoke as a smirk stretched across his face, “You figured it out.” He said with a chuckle.
Ocellus wanted to punch him but she restrained, “It was thanks to that little hint you gave me,” She responded before looking back towards the cards, “As you said even fates' hate what they have. So, they are willing to switch their fates with anybody who takes the deal,” She continued as he stared at her, “So I decided to try something and it worked.” She finished as she looked towards the cards.
Jinai then appeared directly above her; he looked down at the cards with her, “So, who does this fate belong too?” He asked.
Ocellus responded, “My teacher,” She sighed a little in sadness, “Miss Pinkie Pie.” She finished.
“But, do you know what they mean?” Jinai asked.
Ocellus knew he would asked that. Obviously the answer was no; there were two new cards she never saw. But, there was one familiar one. She looked at the five of cups and studied it carefully; hoping the image on the card itself would tell her. The mare was in front of a destroyed home; behind the home was a forest burnt to the ground. Her hooves were held out; almost like she was begging for help. While the tears on the mares face ran down like endless rivers.
“This card. It's a good example of sadness,” She though to herself as she continued to study the image, “But, that is way to obvious. There's no way that card just represents sadness. Maybe, it means more than one. But, what is it?” She continued to say in her mind.
She turned back to the desk so she could lay her head down. She thought hard about the card; remembering she had only pulled the card the other night. The card was meant for Sandbar; so what happened to happened to him? What did the card say was gonna happen? Here eye's then went wide as she was suddenly hit with a huge realization. His parents had kicked him out and his father had called him a freak. Possibly, because he had told them he was in love with Gallus. That would be a good example not only of sadness. But, emotional loss.
“Sadness and emotional loss!” She suddenly shouted as she turned to Jinai; who was reclining in the air again.
“Say again.” He responded.
“The five of cups,” She said the name of the first card, “It represents sadness and emotional loss.” She finished.
Neither one of them made a sound. Jinai just stared right at her; while she waited for a response from him. Hoping that she was right. Her answer his sick smile; which flashed his fangs. It sent a chill down her spine.
“You got most of it right.” He replied.
“Most of it?” Ocellus replied in a shocked tone; surprised that she was close. But, also upset that she hadn't got it right yet.
Jinai then appeared on her bed, “You're correct that card does represent sadness and emotional loss,” He spoke before holding up his hoof, “But, there is one more emotion it represents,” He chuckled again as he watched a look of worry appear on his face, “I'm feeling a little generous right now. So, I'll tell you all three.” He finished.
Ocellus smiled happily after he said that; only to back away in fear as he suddenly appeared in front of her. His face inches away from hers. She ended up falling out of her chair and onto the floor. She then started to crawl away from him. She only stopped when her back had hit the wall. She watched as the three cards floated off her desk and in between them.
“Deiknumena, five of cups, emotional loss, sadness, suffering,” He revealed before looking at the middle card, “Dromena, eight of cups, emotional progress, a spiritual voyage,” He then moved to the last card, “Legomena, ten of cups, happiness and harmony with those you love.” He finally finished as the cards flew back to the deck.
Ocellus had a smile on her face and tears falling from her eyes. Her teacher was going to be okay. Miss, Pinkie pie was going to get better. Jinai then crouched down in front of her; making her shake in fear as he got closer to her. So, close, his maw was next to her ear. She had to turn her head away. Just so that she was not looking at him.
“Next time you want to know what the cards mean,” He said while he slowly breathed out. Making her tremble a little as his warm breath moved down her neck, “You're going to have to take the deal,” He continued but then another sickening smile stretched across his face, “Or, you can give me something else.” He said.
Ocellus slowly turned her head back, “What?” She asked.
That would be a question she would regret asking. For, he moved his maw closer to her ear and whispered something. Something, that made her eyes go wide in horror. She then looked down and saw his tail slowly rubbing against one of her legs. Slowly, getting closer to where her legs met her body. She screamed and threw one of her hooves forward. Only to miss him for he had teleported somewhere else. She breathed heavily as she looked around for him. Before slowly curling up onto the floor. His words still sounding off in her head.
“Letting me mount that changeling a.”
She screamed again before leaving her room and running for the gym. Hoping, Coach Rainbow had forgotten to lock the doors again. She was in desperate need of a very hot shower.
