Remember
I remember nothing.
Not a single thing.
I look up in the sky past the dark green leaves of the trees, only to see dark clouds moving at a slow speed. To me it almost looks like a storm is underway, but the winds have yet to really imply that. I recently just woke up, being carried by a nearby river to who knows where. After awakening and crawling out of the river I began to make my way through the thick shrubs, some I could tell were quite thorny, but it bothered me none.
Why?
Now, I was just a soaking wet naked mess. Walking on a literal dirt road that I found. I hear around me creatures screeching and the wooden trunks of the trees groaning in unsettling ways, but yet I felt no fear.
Why was that?
I look at the sun past the branches, trying to indicate any form of direction. East? West? How do I know what those are? I must have been taught them, but by who? Why can I remember that, but not my own name?
Strange.
If I had to guess, I’d say I was heading north. Base on the direction the sun seemed to be setting towards. Sun was also decently high, meaning it wasn’t too late in the afternoon. Yet somehow, the light from it doesn’t reach quite well in this seemingly large forest I find myself in. It remains very dim, leaving me with a sorta creepy atmosphere. But yet as I said before, I have yet to feel fear.
This ground doesn’t exactly look to soft either, I see pebbles and tiny rigid rocks everywhere. Shouldn’t this hurt my feet? I feel like that would be the normal thing. I also understand that I’m wet, so wouldn’t it also be normal to be uncomfortably cold. It does feel a little cool, but the temperature is not uncomfortable to me. For some reason I find that is unusual.
*snap*
I continue walking even after hearing that. Something large has started recently following me. Stalking me. Like I was prey of some kind. Still, I felt not an ounce of fear. Deep inside of me I had a feeling that whatever it was, it could never compare to me.
Was this arrogance?
No, no it was much more than that. More like an instinct. An instinct telling me that this creature of whatever kind is just inferior to me.
I take a glance back in the trees, I could tell that going off the path and into the tree line it was very dark, but if I focused a little that darkness faded quite fast. And I could see the animal. It was bigger than me, a lion hybrid of some kind, with a tail of a scorpion and wings like a bat. I walk as if I saw nothing. I want it to strike first, so it can feel the hopelessness of being overtaken after attacking me first.
I wait.
*CRACK*
There.
I peer over my shoulder only to see it charging at me, bearing it claws, and spreading it wings. It pounces. The creature that was once on the ground was now in the air, it’s jaw wide, aiming for my neck most likely. Faster than even I knew I could move, I turned around, the creature was moving in seemingly slow motion for me. I truly had enough time to observe it’s positioning before it ever even got to me. Both its front paw spread outward, claws extended, and teeth exposed. It was the picture of the perfect predator. What does that make me then?
I smile.
I move myself under my lion friend faster than it could probably perceive me and in curling my fist, I punch that son of a bitch right on the side of its torso. Feeling my hand breaking through its bones.
The creature makes no vocal sounds as it flies off towards the left tree line skimming off the edge of a tree only too completely break through a much smaller tree further behind it. The smaller tree comes crashing down, making a lot of noise. All types of bird startle and start to fly off in every direction from what was once probably their homes.
I walk off the path, towards the creature, stepping on twigs, leaves, anything that allows the creature to know I was coming. I begin to feel something, something coming off of the creature. I have no idea what it was but it made me feel good. As I was coming closer, I hear it begin to whimper as it tries to crawl away from me. I step on its tail, making sure it knows that there’s no escape.
*SNAP*
The creature, wait, actually you know what, I’ll name him Bob. Just so I don’t have to keep calling it “the creature”. Bob roars in pain as I just recently broke its tail near the end. It was so damn loud, I’m sure the entire forest could hear that. I quickly move and grab the back of its head, shoving it in the dirt, snout first. No more kitty noises from Bob.
I laugh as Bob struggles.
Now time t-….wait.
“TWILIGHT!!!”
I turn back towards the path only to see six…. I don’t know, horse women? Two with yellow and purple fur looking down at me and Bob, the yellow one is like hiding behind the purple one I may add, while four others with pink, orange, white, and blue fur are coming up behind them. The purple one has a horn on its head aimed at me, with an alarming purple glow to it.
Uh oh.
Before they knew it, I was up off of Bob and took cover behind a large tree about 15 feet away.
*Boom*
I knew it.
The ground next to Bob apparently was shot by some type of unknown energy, creating a small purple explosion.
Cool.
“What the?! Where did it go?!” The purple horse lady said.
The yellow one rushed towards Bob, looking very much worried for its health.
“Why in tarnation are ya shootin ya magic at a manticore now Twilight?!” The orange horse lady says going beside her looking shocked.
Nice accent.
“No, Applejack, I swear to you, I saw something over the manticore, it was about to kill it!” Looking towards her yellow friend she pointed, “Fluttershy saw it too!”
The yellow one weirdly stroking the “manticores” red mane turned to her orange companion and nodded.
Wait a second, I can understand them.
This is wonderful! I can communicate with them! Wait, what should I say? They don’t really seem to like that fact that I almost tore Bob apart. I look at them again, the rest of them all caught up, looks like they’re altogether. Most of them looking confused by the scene before them.
Well, it’s now or never I guess.
“Umm…I promise I only did it in self-defense!”
*gasps*
“Who’s there!” the one named Twilight calls out, getting in front of her friends while looking in my general direction.
I put myself in the open with my arms up.
Still naked.
“I mean you and your friends no harm.” I say to them.
“Show yourself first then!” Twilight says.
What?
“Umm your looking right at me ma’am”
“How come we can’t see you then?!” she exclaims.
“I don’t your probably just blind then, I’m right here!”
Oh my, I just realized that the reason that they don’t see me, is because I didn’t want them to see me. I actually must be invisible to them somehow.
“What?! Hey, you don’t talk to my friend like that you big meanie!” The pink shouts at me getting in front of her purple friend, her noticeably large breast bouncing as she did so.
Heh heh, nice.
“Hey shut up!” I say.
“No, you shut up!” she replies.
“No you!”
“No you!”
“No you!”
“No you!”
“Pinkie!” the blue one with rainbow colored hair yells to her.
“Yes, Dashie.” She turns and replies all chipper like.
All of them staring at her in confusion.
“Please stop.” She sighs, looking drained by our encounter.
“Okie dokie loki!” She replies as she skips back to her group.
Wow, that was all it took?
“Ok now that that’s over, after thinking about it for a second I realized that I'm probably invisible for y'all. Which is probably the best case considering that I’m naked.” I explain to them. Now realizing that if they could see me, they would probably also see my dick swinging around.
A couple of them blush at that.
Right after I said that, Bob began to whimper again. Blood can now be seen pooling in its mouth, trickling down into the soft soil. Fluttershy still comforting it by petting its mane.
She turned looking at my direction even though she can’t see me.
“Why did you do this?” she asked me. Giving me a serious look.
“Well like I said Butters, I was defending myself, that thing tried to kill me and I fought back.” I say to her, but she still doesn’t look pleased.
She ignores my mis-use of her name.
“No, he was already down and injured. You even had enough time to break his tail. How is he going to hunt and feed his family now that he can’t move?” Her face saddens.
Who cares?
“He should have not attacked me then.” I told her.
“If your magic was strong enough to knock him through a tree I’d say you could have just warned him and I’m sure he would have left you alone.” Twilight butts in.
Magic?
“Well I don’t think I have magic like you sweetie. I can’t project energy like the way you did, all I did was punch it once and that happened.”
Her eyes widen and so do her friends’.
“You punched him?” she asks as reassurance.
“Yep that’s what I said.” I tell her.
The blue one once called Dashie steps up.
“That’s impossible!” she tells me. “You can possibly be that strong, even a earthpony or a minotaur would have trouble fighting some like a manticore with their bare hands!”
She must have saw me from a distance earlier I guess, otherwise she wouldn’t have been able to come to that conclusion.
“Well good thing I’m neither then.”
They stand there shocked. Deep down I could tell they didn’t believe me, looking down at my body I see that I’m pretty built, but I don’t exactly look like the strongest individual. I wouldn’t believe it myself to be honest.
I’m kind of tired of not having clothes on while they do. If I can turn myself invisible, could I possible put some clothes on me? It may not happen, but I might as well try.
I concentrate. Closing my eyes.
I begin to feel something wrap around my body.
I open my eyes to see literal smoky darkness engulfing some of my body, and before I knew it I saw black boots, a pair of jeans, and a brown long sleeve shirt on me. No underwear, but still an improvement.
Amazing
They group of horse women seemed to take a defense position, looking directly at me this time.
“Well looks like you all can see me now.” I tell them.
“Yeah, but what they hay was that?!” The one named Applejack says.
“I was just putting on some clothes. Nothing terrible.”
Every one of them eye me up and down, taking in my features. Almost like they haven’t seen anything like me before.
“Well if you ask me, I’d say that taste is kind of bland darling.” The white one says to me looking taken back by my cloths and might I add very slightly disturbed.
“Good thing no one asked you then huh?” I smile at her.
Humph she says as she looks away pointing her muzzle up.
“Well we can’t just let you go now.” Twilight says.
“Huh? And why is that?” I say crossing my arms.
“Because you just mortally wounded an endangered species! Under Equestrian law that’s a crime!”
My eyes widen.
Damn I fucked up.
Wait if I’m being convicted, that means that they have to take me back to wherever they came from. There’s questions that I need answered, like about their culture, where I am, and if there’s anyone of authority I can talk too.
I begin to slowly walk towards them, giving them a bit of a scare.
“How about this, I help you get that thing to a doctor, and if you get me something to eat, I’ll allow you to convict me of whatever crime I have committed.”
At this point I was up in her face, although I was like a full head and a half taller than her. She tries to toughen up and gives me her serious face, narrowing her large purple eyes at me. That feeling, radiating off of her, it’s the same as when that manticore tried to get away from me. I know what it is now.
Fear.
“Do we have a deal…Miss Twilight?”
She looks back at her friends, most of them with worried expressions, except for Dashie and Applejack, looking in my direction all types of threatening.
She looks back at me dead in the eyes and nods.
“Deal.”
Really giving me the silent treatment huh?
I thought having these females with me on this trip would make life more interesting, but they’re not saying anything! After our little “deal”, Twilight made a makeshift gurney by collecting a bunch of twigs and branches using her magic. Which by the way is very cool. Also, that literally took like 10 seconds.
The gurney was simple and sturdy, with two branches on each end sticking out to act as handles. I made a witty remark saying how that was impressive for a purple horse lady, only to be corrected by her saying “I’m not a horse, I’m a pony.” Pony? Horse? Same difference, right? Anyways, she practically stared daggers at me while saying that. Really got to her I guess. After that, our blue friend was about to take up one side of the gurney, until her orange friend Applejack intervened, grabbing her arm saying, “No let me,” and whispering in her ear “In case he tries anything, you got to be ready.” I smiled at that, thinking about why I should even be afraid of either of them?
With me and Amplebutt in position, Twilight lifted Bob off the ground using her magic, Bob really did not like it though, he moaned and groaned the entire time she put him on the gurney. Twilight kept on frantically apologizing, as if that would make it feel any better. With that, we lifted Bob up and began our journey to …ummm … Ponyland? I actually don’t know where we’re going, I’ve been in the front of the group for about 10 minutes, and they haven’t really said much. Like at all.
“Sooooo…where are we going?” I asked, turning my head to look at Twilight.
“Ponyville.” She replies, looking straight ahead and not at me.
“How much further is it?” I ask, smiling at that very stupid name for a town.
“Around 10 more minutes.” She says, expressionless.
“Ok then.” I nod.
Silence.
Nothing can be heard but the soft patting of our feet…and hooves.
I turn back around, “I have another question.”
“What is it?” Twilight starts again.
“Oh, sorry purples, not for you.” I say right before turning my head towards Fluttershy, “What size bras do you wear?”
I felt Applejack cease walking, stopping me along with her. Fluttershy on the other hand, looked very shocked with a blush beginning to form on her face. I mean, come on, someone had to ask. I didn’t realize how big they were until right now, she’s even wearing a large green sweater and I can still make out the entire shape of those two. They grow them big out here in Ponyland I tell you what.
I move my entire body slightly to look at Applejack, scowling at me with pure relentless anger.
Smiling I asked her, “Why did you stop?” knowing fully well why.
“Ya think it’s funny to make fun of mah friends?” She asked me, still looking angry and as serious as I’ve ever seen her.
I pretend to look shocked and hurt, at all the angry faces eyeing me down, except Pinkie, I see her giggling in the back.
I like her.
“How DARE you Applejack,” giving her my hurt voice with a drip of sarcasm, “I ask our dear friend Fluttershy a good honest question, and you insult me my saying I’m verbally assaulting her? Don’t you have shame?”
I feel her begin to settle down the gurney, “Why ya little- I outta drop ya righ-” “Applejack!!!” Dashie says putting her hand on her shoulder, stopping her friend from doing something stupid.
“Let it go, he isn’t worth it.” She tells her friend, eyeing me down.
“Thank you Dashie, I appreciate you defending me.” Giving her a slight bow with my head.
She walks towards me face to face, “Your lucky that our first priority is getting this manticore to a doctor.” She practically spat at me.
“I guess someone’s looking out for me then.” I tell her, full of hidden contempt.
She gives me an even more angrier look.
“And my name’s not Dashie, it Rainbow Dash. My FRIENDS are the only ponies I let call me that.” She tells me before walking away.
Scary
I chuckle internally.
It remained quiet for a bit until I decided to break the silence.
“Well, let’s get going then.” I say to the group. Taking a glance at Fluttershy looking down at her hooves before starting our walk again.
It wasn’t long, I was able to see “Ponyville” within a good 15 minutes. That name is still pretty dumb I think, why would you name a town after the species that occupies it? I don’t understand. Anyways, as one could probably guess, walking into town wasn’t exactly peaceful, many of these ponies looking at us while we took the manticore through the streets. Some were looking at me, and some were looking at Bob. I even heard a “look mommy” from a little filly while passing by with her mother.
While thinking it over a bit, since these creatures are actually ponies. It would only make sense to call them as what you would call ponies, right? So, from now on I now know them as mares, stallions, and foals, and if I’m not mistaken, “filly” is a term for a young female pony. Seems like it makes sense.
Its only the late afternoon, not quite night time, so I’m assuming most the ponies have already retired home. Which makes it better for me, I don’t really like all the eyes on me. The streets are mostly clear, with a few exceptions. Most of the ponies passing by looked shocked, but there are some that look intrigued, curious about me instead of Bob. Those are the ones I really can’t stand for some reason. Looking around I see that some buildings have hay or something similar as roofing, and some have just a normal structure with normal roofs.
What is normal?
I don’t understand, what is my sense of normal? Where did I get it from? I don’t even know what my face looks like…or even my name. Yet, somehow, I have a sense of normality, and can understand a language that ponies speak. It does make me wonder. Where in this world am I from?
“Hey!” I hear someone yell behind me.
“We’re here, you can stop now.” Says Twilight. I must have been so lost in thought that I wasn’t paying attention.
The building was quite normal for the area, had two stories, made out of wood, a brown door, some windows, and the roof of course was made of hay.
“Yes ma’am.” Me and Applejack put down Bob and then I gave her a salute fit for a soldier.
I could see Pinkie laughing and snorting in the background behind Fluttershy.
She gets it.
“Ok, come on Futtershy, I need your expertise with Doctor Fauna.” Twilight says as she begins to pick up Bob, who I just noticed is still awake. He didn’t make any noise as he was carried off by Twilight’s magic. Instead he looked at me, in fear of something. Maybe it thinks that after it gets put back in the forest that I’ll come find him again and finish him off, or maybe that I’ll sneak in and make it look like an accident. I can’t be too sure, but I may actually try to do that.
“Will you girls be ok?” She asks her four remaining friends who aren’t going with her, definitely referring to me as I put my hands in my jean pockets.
All of her friends give her a nod, smiling.
She then takes a glance at me before nodding back.
Twilight, then along with Bob disappeared behind the large brown wooden door of the building. Fluttershy soon followed after, but before she entered, she looked at me with sad and timid eyes. Those eyes, it’s as if she’s looking down upon me.
For me and my perception of time, this as what is probably a quick glance for her, lasts a lot longer then it should for me.
No, I was wrong.
It’s as if she feels...sorry for me.
I stand there confused, before she disappears behind the brown wooden door to meet up with Twilight.
Wait, what were those on her back?
I wave it off as my imagination.
I quickly gang my composure, and after a moment, I look at the white pony next to Applejack and Rainbow, who are just standing beside eachother crossing their arms with both their eyes on me.
“So, I never did get your name.”
She looks at me, not with anger, but with more of a slight annoyance, “Name’s Rarity darling.” She tells me in her fancy accent.
“Oh, nice name.” I say being genuine. It really was a good name, at least I thought so.
“Pinkie wouldn’t happen to be a nickname like Dashie, would it?” I ask now facing pinkie.
“Nope.” She says, shaking her head with plenty built up hyperactiveness, hopping up and down for some reason.“Butimgladyouasked.MynameisPinkamenaDianePie,buteveryponynomatter whotheyarecallsmePinkiePieforshortcuzyouknowPinkamenaDianePieisverrrylonganditwouldbesuchahass-”
“Ok, we get it Pinkie we get it.” Rainbow dash tells her friend who now has their mouth by her hand.
“So, Pinkie Pie, nice to know.” I smile at them. I could tell pinkie smiled back even though her mouth is covered, while at the same time giving me a thumbs up.
“So, what’s yer name?” Applejack askes me.
I look at her before giving her the honest truth, “I don’t have one.”
All four of them turn towards me, shocked.
Applejack shakes her head, looking a bit sad for once, “Ya got ta have a name, everypony does.”
“Not me.” I say.
“Are you ashamed of it?” Rarity asks me.
“Maybe, I don’t know.” I shrug.
“How can you not know?” Rainbow dash butts in, looking very frustrated about my answers.
“I can’t be ashamed of something I’ve never had or can’t remember Miss Dash.”
Her face drops and begins to be one of pity. I don’t want their pity. Names aren’t that special anyways. Although, it might be better to have one sooner then later.
I could hear a series of flapping coming from behind me, I turn to see a couple of birds on a pole in a nest. They nuzzle eachother lovingly as they have now probably been reunited after a long day. I kind of just stand there for a moment, admiring them at a small distance. Until I hear the door of the building crack open.
Still looking at the birds, I hear Rarity say, “Is the poor dear going to be alright?” all concerned and what not.
“Yep, Dr. Fauna says that he will have to have surgery to fix a broken disk in his spine, but other than that, his recovery should be around a month with magical oral treatment.” Fluttershy explains, relieved.
There was a very slight pause.
“So, what’s next?” Applejack asks.
I most defiantly could feel them all look at me, even though I wasn’t even facing in that direction.
“Well…” Twilight begins, “I think It would be best to head to the castle now.”
“With him?” Rainbow say referring to me, not annoyed or angry, but just genuinely curious.
“Yes, I think you should all spend the night. That way we can all keep an eye on him.”
“I'm right here you know?” I say as I turn.
And I see it again, those things on Fluttershy’s back, I see them barely from my perspective, but they’re definitely there.
“Miss Fluttershy,” I start off my question, “What is that on your back?”
She looked shocked that I called for her at first, and then confused as I asked my question.
“Y-Y-You mean my wings?” She asks me, as if I knew.
Intrigued, I ask to clarify, “You have wings?”
She turns around slowly, extending them, putting them on display. They were just as yellow as her coat, but they were huge, somewhere around 8-10 feet in length.
They can fly.
I admire them for a moment before she retracts them to the middle of her back once again and turns around.
That was amazing.
I just stood there for a second before saying, “You have very beautiful wings Fluttershy.” Complimenting her, giving a beaming smile.
She instantly blushes, hiding her face behind her hair.
“T-T-Thank y-y-you.” She tells me.
Some of the other girls looked surprised by my compliment. Their eyes wide. Twilight looks very curious.
Applejack just looks a bit irritated, “Hey, what are you playin’ at?”
Looking at her, I say, “Applejack, I may make a bunch of stupid jokes, and I may have harmed an endangered species, but…when I made that compliment…I meant it.” For the first time, I gave her my serious face.
Her face softens, and I see a bit of regret wash over her. After a good 10 seconds of nothing being said, Twilight breaks the silence by clearing her throat.
“Well the sun is about to go down,” Twilight off starts by saying, “we should get going.” she tells us before walking past me.
I turn to follow her, only to see a pair of wings on her back as well.
What is she I wonder?
And just like that, we made our way to the castle they spoke of.
