"Mommy, mommy, look what daddy and I made!"

It was a warm summer's afternoon, the sun just now beginning to lower over the Fillydelphia cityscape. In the calmer suburbs of the city, a trio of pegasi lived in a small cottage, living their lives like every other family around them.

The young colt, being around the age of 5, was scampering through his home's living room and into the kitchen, where his mother had been cooking dinner. His name was Astro Wolf, and at the moment, he was still a blank flank.

"What is it, darling?" the mother asked softly, looking down at her son.

Astro beamed. "Come look in the living room!" he then quickly darted away, prancing excitedly.

The mare nodded, following her foal into the other room. As she entered the room, the colt's father was laying on the floor, with building bricks littering the floor. But what truly stood out was the structure they had assembled in the center of the room. A nearly perfect model of the royal castle of Canterlot stood amidst all of the strewn about bricks.

"Oh my stars... It looks absolutely amazing, boys!" the mare clapped her hooves together in glee. "It looks just like the real thing!"

The father smiled and sat up, ruffling his son's mane. "Well, we were trying to decide what to make, but it was our little Wolf who wanted to make the castle in Canterlot."

The young Astro's face was practically a glowing orb of excitement. "Look, mommy! I even made a princess Luna!!" he trotted over to her, holding what was clearly a pony-shaped creation, made from the same dark blues and blacks that made up the real princess's appearance. Of course, being made by a four year old, it certainly wasn't perfect. It had enough detail to be recognizable, though.

"It looks wonderful, honey!" she exclaimed, picking her son up and nuzzling him gently on the side of his neck. Giggling, the colt began squirming in her grasp, attempting in vain to wiggle free from his torture.

After several seconds, she finally released him, giggling softly as he dropped to his stomach, panting heavily from a short of breath.

"M-mom! You know I don't like that!" he pouted, soon sitting up and rubbing his cheeks with his forehooves, his wings fluttering at his sides a bit.

The mare just smiled and winked at her husband before turning for the kitchen. "Come on boys, you'd better get cleaned up! I just about finished your favorite meal! We have to celebrate for your father's new job!"

"That's right! Tonight is my first shift as the new night guard at that pizzeria," the older stallion nodded, using his wings to push the miscellaneous bricks into a single pile. He then grabbed the container and began scooping up the pieces.

"Daddy, will you promise to protect the ani... Animal..." Astro started, clearly struggling with his words.

"The animatronics?"

"Yeah! You'll keep them safe, right??" the colt asked, helping his father clean up the last bit of bricks.

Once finished with the clean up, the older pegasus lifted Astro onto his back, nodding. "Of course I will! I will do everything possible in order to protect your robot friends!"

"Okay, come on, boys! Dinner's ready!" the mother called to them, setting three plates of her delicious lasagna onto the table.

With huge, dorky smiles on their muzzles, and anxious to eat, Astro and his father trotted over to the table.

Once the sun had been lowered by Princess Celestia, the moon was soon raised to take its place. The silver, glistening light shined over the home, illuminating the room with a soft light.

"Daddy, can you please tell me one of your stories before you leave?"

The father sadly shook his head. "Not tonight, buddy... I have to be at work early in order to get ready and learn the basics of my new job..."

"Aww..." Astro huffed, wrapping his forehooves around his Power Pony Zapp plush and squeezing gently.

"But I'll tell you what. Tomorrow afternoon, after I get home and rested, we'll go see a movie. Just me and you!" the stallion sad with a smirk on his muzzle.

That certainly got Astro's attention. His ears perked up as he sat up, wide-eyed. "Can we go see the new Power Ponies movie?!"

His father smiled, ruffling his son's mane once more. "You bet my wing feathers we can!"

"Yay!! I'm so excited and I can hardly wait!!" he then squeezed his plush even harder, bouncing up and down in excitement.

A gentle hoof on his shoulder, however, ended his actions. His ears were then met with his mother's soft, but stern voice. "Now, now... You gotta get plenty of sleep first, mister... And you can't do that if your super duper hyper!"

"I know, I know, but I wanna go right now!" Astro said, letting out a loud huff as he slowly got back under his covers.

"I know you do, buddy, but it's too late tonight, and I have work. I'll be home before you wake up, okay?"

Astro let out a yawn, his eyelids slowly getting heavier by the second. "Okay, daddy. What... Whatever you say..."

With a soft smile, both parents gave their son a quick hug and kiss. Silently, they both left the room, closing his door.
Little did Astro know, this night is gonna be the night that changes his life forever.

The next morning seemed just like every other morning for Astro. He woke up to the beautiful sound of birds chirping outside, the sun shining brightly into his room.

With a quick yawn, the young bolt sat up, looking over at his wonderbolt poster. Smiling, he stood up and made his bed, trotting into the sunlight to stretch. He started by stretching his forelegs, one at a time, until view felt loose and relaxed. He then repeated with his hindlegs, sighing in satisfaction when one of his joints made an audible popping noise. Once finished, a certain, muffled sound caused his ears to twitch.

As he stood in silence, he noticed it sounded like somepony was sobbing. Curiously, he trotted over to his window, only to find that nopony was out there. That's when he noticed that it was coming from downstairs.

"Mom?" he called out, trotting up to his door. There was no answer, so he decided to slowly go downstairs, being as silent as possible.

The right that came before him upon entering the living room caught him off guard. Astro's mother was, indeed, the one creating the sobbing noises. She was sprawled out on the rug, laying on her stomach. Her wings hung loosely from her sides, resting against the floor, twitching ever so slightly. She had her muzzle buried into the ground, sounding like she was crying her heart out.

Next to one me her forelegs was a copy me that morning's news papers. Curious, he walked over to pick it up, but his hoofsteps must have registered with his mom, because she quickly sat up and pulled her son into her lap. Wrapping her hooves around him, she held him close, resting her head against the top of his own.

"M-mommy? Why are you crying? And where's daddy?" Astro asked, nervous and worried about his mother. "Is daddy still asleep?"

This caused his mother to sob a bit more. After a couple seconds, her sobs turned into audible words. "H-he... He isn't coming home, h-honey... Th-there was an accident with one of the r-robots... It... C-came to life and it... Killed him!!" she suddenly bursts into loud and chokes from sobs. She pressed her muzzle into her son's mane, hugging him tighter.

Astro just sat in his mother's lap, speechless as his young brain took time to process the information of his father's fate. A knock on their door jostled him from his shock.

"C-come in!" his mom choked, tears streaked down her cheeks.

Several of Astro's parents' friends came through the door, a saddened look on all of their muzzles. They all came over, comforting Astro and his mother. They stayed for a few hours until Astro and his mother were calmed down. Once they all left, he got another hug from his mother. He had some of his own friends over as well, trying to comfort him. After a bit, he just shut them out, wanting to be left alone. Not sure what to do, he sat on the floor and watched his mom.

"Honey, why don't you go hang in you're room for a bit? Mommy has some phone calls to make." she patted his head softly before trotting to the phone.

Other than at dinner time, Astro pretty much stayed in his room. His mom tucked him in later that evening, telling him it was going to be okay. Of course, the only thing on young Astro's mind was the fact that he would never hear one of his father's stories again.

Earlier in the day, his mother had offered to take him to the movies after dinner, but Astro quickly declined. He was afraid that he wouldn't be able to focus on the movie after what happened. It just wouldn't have been the same without his dad.

Astro laid in bed for what felt like hours. He just couldn't fall asleep, still in udder shock about what happened. After all, his father was killed by robots he called his friends!

After several hours, the colt did finally fall asleep. He didn't have a single dream, just blackness the entire night. When he did finally wake up, the sun was shining brightly through his window. The birds were chipping cheerfully, and he sat up, yawning deeply as he did his routine stretching. Walking over to his window, he noticed his mother working in the small flower garden. She was humming a cheerful tune.

Slowly pushing his window open, Astro went to speak, only to stop when he noticed movement on the sidewalk just down the road. Squinting, he could barely make out the outline of a purple stallion. Not recognizing him, he watched with curiosity as he came closer to their home.

His mother also seemed to notice, because she stood up and looked at him. Astro was surprised when she spoke to him as if she knew exactly who he was.

"How dare you show yourself at my home after what you've done!!" she shouted, waving the mini garden rake she held in her hoof towards the stallion.

The stallion, in response, held up his hoof in defense. When he spoke, his voice was deep and gravelly, as if somepony had scratched up his vocal cords. "It's not my fucking fault your damn husband had to go snooping around my establishment! I gave him very specific instructions to stay in the office!!"

Astro's mother was standing tall, the furs on her back standing up. "You fucking killed him! Had one of your creations kill him on the spot!!"

This time, it was the stallion's turn to growl. "If his stupid ass had followed orders, he would've been able to come home to his bitch of a wife!!"

The stallion then looked up, staring directly into Astro's eyes. The colt shrinked back in fear. "Oh? And you have a son, yes? I'd hate for him to lose both of his parents."

His mother gasped, stepping back. "Are you threatening me?!? You'll go to prison before you could do anything! Once I win the lawsuit, you'll be done for, Mister A--"

Just as Astro came back to his window, the stallion jumped. A knife appeared in his hoof as he pushed his mother to the ground. His mother let out a blood curdling screech - right before the knife was plunged into her chest.

"This is what happens to ponies who get into business they have no right to be in!!" the stallion roared, twisting the knife before yanking it out and stepping back.

"MOMMY!!!" Astro screamed at the top of his lungs. He watched in udder silence as the stallion stared up at him once more, before running off down the road.

Astro lept out of his window and glided down to the ground. He raced over to his mother, who was having trouble breathing. The young colt sobbed, collapsing down next to her, watching in horror as blood poured from his mother's chest. Instinctually, he placed his hooves against her chest, only to get his small hooves covered in his mother's lifeblood.

"Mommy, no!! Please, no!!"

The mare was laying on her side, wheezing and whimpering. Off in the distance, the faint sound of sirens could be heard. Astro's mother opened her eyes to look at her son. She barely managed to lift her hoof up to his cheek, which was now covered in tears.

"M-my little W-Wolf," she croaked, coughing up a bit of blood. " Sw-sweetie, I love you..." another cough and her body twitched. The sirens were slowly getting louder.

"Mommy, don't go!! Please, stay with me!! I need you!!! I can't lose you and daddy!!"

"Honey, w-we're always with you..." This was the last thing the mare ever said to her son before her life ended.

The little pegasus colt burst into tears, wailing loudly, continuously screaming out for his mother to come back. He buried his muzzle in her mane, the lifeless body of his mother unmoving.

When the authorities showed up, Astro was no longer laying over his mother's body, nor was he crying. He just sat a few feet away, staring in shock as the area was taped off for investigation. At first, one of the officers tried to get Astro to move, but was quickly shot down by his chief.

At some point, his parent's closest friends came by, hearing the horrific news. They managed to pull Astro away from the scene, comforting him. He had blood stains on his hooves and chest, and the first thing he was promised by his soon-to-be new family was a warm bath.

It was in these moments that the colt promised himself two things. First, he would do everything possible to protect the songs around him. Second, he was determined to bring his parents' murderer to justice. Lastly, he would not let himself get distracted until there goals were accomplished, by any means necessary.

Author's Note

This is my newest story. It's essentially my oc Astro Wolf's backstory. Hopefully, it does well. Later on, I will probably have some smut involved, but if that changes, the tags will definitely be changed.

Criticism is welcome, just don't be too harsh on me!

Also, there are a few tags that I didn't include. For example, I referenced Five Nights at Freddy's. However, this is the only chapter that will reference it, so I didn't deem it an important aspect of the story.
